This game is a ton of fun. Looks Great and playe even better. For a AA game to put out some great content blows my mind. Almost no dips running into battle. Only 2 times in the start of the game but was minor. I am 13 hours into it and i am havin alot of fun. Thank You Nintendo, u still a good job with a 3rd party game. Go and bye!!!!!!

From the outset you are shown the basics , leading to the sexy femme fatal antagonist, that got my attention peaked for this game..There is a satisfying leveling system and you grind you way along leveling up similar to an ARPG..Story is syfy cool and all worth it's price..I would love to see what this studio could do with a big budget as this game is better than most generic, political triple A games released today in the US. How it work on switch? - game runs pretty good with several lags in massive action scenes. Game itself: grate child of Devil May Cry and Nier: Automata that have good graphic part and poor music part.

Insanely good for what it is: an indie-level, fast-paced character action game. Combat gives the likes Devil May Cry and Nier: Automata a run for their money at indie game pricing. Attacking is sleek, fast and fun. The game will have you rapidly switching swords on the fly to use their unique, special techniques like air launching, aoe attacks, counter stances and shield breaking. This gives you great control over your combat tactics and encourages you to experiment with the options available to you. Combined with a hookshot that always ensures you're in the thick of the fight and you're got a top-notch combat system. Worth checking out for its combat alone. Expand

Especially given the continued “unknown date” status of Bayonetta 3, Switch fans looking to beat or slash things up with some intense combat may be feeling a little twitchy. Ultra Age is here to help you work out some of those frustrations, featuring some good ideas married with a reasonable level of challenge. I will admit that as it opened and the focus was a bit more on the game’s story, featuring some of the worst voice acting I’ve heard in quite some time, I had my doubts. However, once everything opened up and I could begin moving between blade types, searching for extra crystals for gear, and tweaking my skills to better suit my slashing style my opinion turned around pretty quickly. I’m hoping not to trigger some Breath of the Wild players but your blades will degrade with use, though the fact that’s put to good use and allows you to do some nasty damage shattering them against your enemies should help make up for it. It absolutely isn’t as refined or polished as the likes of Bayonetta or the Devil May Cry series, but at half the asking price I think this comes out to a fair compromise. Given the fact that, especially in terms of indies, the pickings in this area are pretty slim Ultra Age is an appreciated effort and since there’s a demo being able to take it for a spin beforehand is a great bonus.

With its memorable boss fights, a balanced combat system and a very interesting weapon management mechanic, Ultra Age's gameplay comes out on top when faced against its dated visual environment and lack of an interesting plot. Hack and slash fans will find this a very interesting and enjoyable game.

Ultra Age may not be a complete package, offering little outside it’s compelling combat. However, the moment to moment gameplay is incredibly enjoyable, even if the Nintendo Switch version of the game is noticeably stripped back.

Ultra Age is the sort of game that could have benefited from more polish and a stronger narrative. The performance on Nintendo Switch is disappointing, but the largest problems with the title are with the narrative structure and presentation. If there is ever a future for this franchise, the focus needs to be on building the existing combat into a cohesive storyline, because right now, it just doesn't cut it.
