    one.

A lifeform that doesn't care about the mission. A lifeform that doesn't care about the sophisticated defence systems. A lifeform that only cares about getting its grubby hands on the station's trash.

    A raccoon.

Trash Quest is a compact metroidvania with zero checkpoints, run and gun action and tight platforming.

Navigate an interwoven maze of rooms through this space station destroying robots, collecting power ups and unlocking shortcuts.

Trash Quest is far from a piece of eShop garbage. It's actually a brief but delightful and welcome addition to the Metroidvania stable on Switch. Online leaderboards that track your clear time, among other things, adds a heaping of replay value. Still, it's not much of a challenge to complete the game with a 100 percent rate, so enjoy the experience while it lasts. If you're dumpster diving for a palette cleanser in-between some larger titles this holiday season, do yourself a favor and consider helping a raccoon on its Trash Quest.

The game is polished to a very high level, the art, music, sound design, and functionality are all at a high standard. The devs really seem to have put a lot of hard work and love into this title and it really shows.

Overall I’d say it’s a fun trash filled adventure for the raccoon inside all of us.

A testament to the solid platforming, perhaps, but also indicative of how short it is. Recommending it at full price may be a push unless you’re really eager for more Metroidvania goodness, but it’s certainly one to grab on a sale at the very least. Despite the name, this is certainly more gem than garbage."

While it isn’t very impressive visually, and certainly won’t hold your hand very much, if you enjoy Metroidvania-style exploration as well as some tricky puzzle platforming, Trash Quest is worth a look. Taken as a relatively small, short, and challenging package to fill some time, completing it initially, and then competing on the leaderboard for a quick clear time once you know what you’re doing, for its low price it has quite a lot of value to offer for the right crowd.
