You might lose motivation in the long run, but it is a tasty treat for the few hours it lasts.

Totes the Goat is a simple clone of Q*bert but one that has its own charms and more importantly, is much less frustrating.

Totes The Goat takes one of my favourite retro games, and does a decent job of modernising it. The developer would have benefited from the actual Q*Bert license, and some creativity of their own so that the game didn't seem like such an earnest attempt to cash in on one of the biggest and most influential mobile titles, but yes, Totes is genuine good fun, and I imagine I'll get many months of play out of this one.

Totes is a modern day Q-Bert, that's perfect for a quick pick-up and play session.

There isn't much to the game, you move title to tile, avoiding enemies which results in an instant death. Once you hit every tile, you are onto the next platform. With three lives, try to get a high score.

Totes has a decent carrot-on-a-stick mechanic, where collecting in-game coins will allow you to unlock one of many different character skins, from Monkey, Cat, Hat, and even other Atooi franchise characters like Grannie from Mutant Mudds. The character skins also change the sound effects from your player, as well as the colour scheme to the level.

This game isn't deep, it doesn't have power-ups from what I have played, it doesn't have any Rumble, Video Capturing, or online leaderboards, but it's very affordable at $5.99 CAD.

If you're looking for a pallet cleanser between games, Totes the Goat is worth your time.
