The best point and click adventure game on the switch and a return to the classic feel of the genre i love. Though i did figure out the ending about 2 hours in.

I enjoyed Thimbleweed Park's nostalgic visuals that reminded me of playing Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis. LucasArts were fantastic at creating memorable game worlds and characters. I say almost-distinct because even though their backstories and motives are different, they all have the same lines of dialogue when it comes to interacting with mundane world objects which just comes off as lazy. They’ve already payed the voice actors to record those lines, at least spice it up a little.

The story itself is pretty good but like most pretty good adventure game stories the ending can disappoint some people; i know i felt that at the end. Here we have this great conspiracy and what does it all build up to? A meta joke with no payoff.

But this was not a deal breaker for me, just a bit of a let down. The nice pixel art, the (overall) good writing, the interesting cast and the puzzles made me enjoy the journey a lot more than the destination. It’s worth saying that the game also has a “light-puzzle” option for those of us less capable, but I would advise against using it because it takes out literal bits and jokes of the game. You don't even need a walkthrough since the game has a hint system. As for the jokes, they're not that good but they do help maintain the quirky atmosphere.

As for the switch version it’s great. The controls are good and handheld is lovely. You also have a quick help chart with the controls if you forget, something which i think every console game should have.

Brings back the 'point and click' memories. I gotta say i was a bit skeptical when i bought this game. Skeptical that i would enjoy it. I was definitely wrong. The game is very fun. Point and click adventure with a fun storyline. Brings back memories and certainly does the job of filling in that nostalgic urge. If you enjoyed maniac mansion then this is a must buy.
I found using the controls a bit too time consuming so I switched to just playing it in portable using the touch screen. This doesn’t make it any less of an enjoyable experience.

Thimbleweed Park is a very good and retro style point and click that is akin to the traditional style. If you're looking for these types of games on the Nintendo Switch, I don't think you can go wrong by picking this one up.

I love old PC point and click game. This game brought back nostalgic feeling and memories. However, it's not as good as many classic game in the genre. It's entertaining enough to keep me playing for 3-4 hours. I don't see any benefit of Pixel graphic. I would love the game much much more if the graphic is better.

The first half of the game was great. In the second half, the puzzles stopped making sense, the plot stopped making sense, and you had to coordinate too many characters. I almost quit when I had to manually walk every character to one location for the plot to progress.

    - Many red herrings in this game. You can pick up many objects that are never used, which is disappointing. There is a fetch quest that once you complete it does nothing. Many interesting details in the story and objects in the world that do nothing or are irrelevant. Many plot points left unexplained.

I think this game needs a few extra chapters where things go off the rails a little more slowly and more loose ends are tied up.

Honestly very very standard point & click, with a bit of humor. Disappointed, because I was expecting more clever puzzles and less linear storytelling. It doesn't make me feel like I wanna go to the point & click nostalgia anymore...

I admit: this is my first journey into point and click, and, well, the impression that Thimbleweed Park gives me of the whole genre is just okay. The detective work is fun. The meta-humor veers between cute and "Jesus Christ we get it." The Twin Peaks trope is fine, if you like Twin Peaks.

But some puzzles are pretty stupid. You will get stuck because every objective requires some mundane object that cannot be found in any of the logical places nor in most of the illogical ones. Like, I need to make printer ink from scratch so I can print a job application? I need to hunt for the only dime in town so I can use the pay phone? I'm an FBI agent investigating a murder and I only brought one piece of film for the Polaroid? And this is considered "adventure"? Never mind the side objective that is a literal pixel hunt. Luckily, there is a hint line that helps you overcome these blatant attempts to waste your time.

Get it when it's on sale.

La nostalgia no es suficiente para hacer de esto un buen juego o que esté a la altura de lo que esperaba. i hate the story. everything you did was pointless because of the story. the game is more comedy than anything else. the graphic art is amazing and game mechanics. In the beginning its a murder mystery/fantasy but story ruined it which basically isn't mystery or wasn't focus about it.

Summary: Thimbleweed Park is a love letter to classic point-click adventure game lovers made from the acclaimed Ron Gilbert, the creator of Maniac Mansion and the Monkey Island saga. The game is very good: long, deep, and with tons of reference to the classics of the genre. It is way better than what you usually find on iOS game and it gives a lot of value for its price.

Thimbleweed is exactly what it looks like: a point-click adventure going full on the retro/nostalgic side of things. And it is a very good point-click adventure for all standards. Thimbleweed also does many great things on the aesthetic side, both on graphics and sounds, so even though it looks retro you actually enjoy your senses every minute you spend on Thimbleweed. This is worth noting because many retro games do not do this right, and it also a great choice from the creator since it is certainly a good arthistic style for the genre.

However, although Thimbleweed is definiteley a great game (even more if you consider it can be played on mobile devices) one is forced to compare it with its predecessors and the masterpieces of the genre. And this is no easy task. Thimbleweed certainly stands his ground firm on many aspects when it is compared with the classics, but one must admit that Thimbleweed falls behind on story, dialogues, and characters. Since graphics adventure rely on story telling and clever puzzles instead on horse-power the device they are running on, it is not so surprising that almost 30 years after the start of genre games like Monkey Island I & II and Day of the Tentacle are still the pinnacles and the top of the their class. To put it plain and simple: although Thimbleweed is certainly very good, it will not fill your memory with unforgettable moments as those three classic games I mentioned before.

Humorous dialogue and endearing characters. Starts off strong as an interesting murder mystery but the overall experience is marred by an outlandish final act that twists into the overwrought trappings of meta hijinks. Doesn’t reach the heights of its LucasArts forebearers, but there’s enough here for genre fans to appreciate.

-The organization of the objectives: some of them have to be completed only latter in the game. Why putting this objectives from the beginning of the game?
-Some puzzle solving is just ridiculous : if it was not for the hint hotline ( wich sometimes it helps , most of the time it’s useless)the game would be even more confusing . I had to used the walkthrough a couple of times wich takes all the fun out. -Some of the voice acting and script are good ,some are not and some it’s just terrible.

It’s Pros: -story is kind of interesting and funny

Thimbleweed Park brings back the point and click genre for a fun and well developed effort full of good sense of humour and interesting puzzles to solve. While it feels like it would be a big improvement if it could be played in a way more akin to the games it's paying tribute to, Thimbleweed Park will leave no one disappointed.

Apart from the PC version, which still wins thanks to mouse and keyboard controls, this is the best way to experience the ironic masterpiece called Thimbleweed Park. Don't let the old school vibe turn you off: thanks to the Casual mode, this is a timeless classic that should be played by anyone who was born and raised between the late '70s and the early '90s.
