Aug 26, 2020This game for me was an extraordinary experience. The atmosphere is top notch, the gameplay very satisfying with elements of investigation and by my book pretty solid combat. It sticked to my mind like few games I played. The switch port in handheld that I played it is excellent except from occasionally pop up that you don't notice very much while playing. A gem for me.

Apr 10, 2021In the battle of Lovecraftian games Call of Cthulhu VS The Sinking City I honestly loved The Sinking City a lot more. The game does have issues. There's quite a few bugs like floating people, pop ups, poor draw distance. But what it does right is an immersive environment, fun detective goals, an interesting story and a challenging pace.

Oct 15, 2021I really enjoyed this game after i beat it and kinda sad. Sad becuz its alot of fun and i wanted a few more hours. Things moved pretty smooth for the Switch. It looked pretty good also just a bit blurry but not that bad. Great story after the 1st 5 hrs (story has to build up) Not much combat but when there is its fun. Great game.

Jan 2, 2022I've played a lot of games based on and/or inspired by the works of HP Lovecraft, and The Sinking City is probably in the top 3. I'm a fan of survival horror and certain parts of this game were incredibly effective horror. Things fell apart a bit later in the game (repetition became impossible to ignore), but I'm gonna give it a solid 9/10.

Sep 13, 2019Awesome game for all H. P. Lovecraft fans. Game looks great and work without any bugs or FPS drops

Sep 12, 2019This game was more improved such as better shooting mechanics and new visual effects and texures, and the story overall is good along with interesting characters and strong lovecraftian lore. This game also has extra mission and quests so this is overall a good port.

Sep 21, 2019I played this game on a friend's Switch. Thank God I didn't buy it! I love H.P. Lovecraft and I want to love this game but I just can't. With a bigger budget and six more months of development, it might have been a gem...maybe. The three reviews that give the game a 10 are total scams. "[F]ixed performance issues." Really? Where? The game's a buggy mess.

Sep 17, 2019sinkin city has great premises but it falls flat inside its own openworld mechanics feeling poor and empty and too many times f*cking boring , laggy and buggy! what a disappointment!!!:(

Feb 15, 2022Story: Good 8/10
Graphic: Great 9/10
Gamelay: Combat very bad 4/10 - no aim assist, seriously????

Apr 8, 2020No matter how frustrating the combat became or how broken the environments turned out to be, I loved doing case work and figuring out obscure deaths or uncovering secret organizations within this peculiar game world. Given all the downsides, this is a game that is difficult to recommend, especially at full price.

Jan 17, 2020I’d say pretty much the same thing about the game now that it’s on the Switch as I did back when it came out on PS4: if you’re into slightly janky detective games, you’re going to love The Sinking City (and as someone who does love those games, I mean that with all the affection in the world).

Nov 1, 2019With an exquisite plot, plenty of intrigue and mystery and very detailed scenarios, The Sinking City can however fall short when it comes to some aspects of execution, namely a control system that doesn't quite feel natural and some visual performance issues, which should not stand in the way of those willing to do some Lovecraftian horror detective work.
