It's a surprising direction for the studio, but the rolled back presentation allows for the Punchuin's highly enjoyable gameplay to take center stage. The game is level based, with each being a challenge to match different colored blocks together in rows of three, primarily by punching them. I found this to work very well; and this simple style is surprisingly challenging to master. I enjoyed the overall aesthetic charm and polished game design of this title, with my only complaint being the mini-games. I found these to be far more difficult than necessary, and to require more coins to attempt than would be ideal. Apart from that, The Punchuin is a great time, and I'd highly recommend it to those who enjoy puzzle games. Expand

I've played basically every puzzle game worth playing, this game is... maybe worth playing. But the stages are not random so replaying them is dull when you fail, and the stage based play isn't particularly interesting. It kind of ripped off a vIta game called UFO dad, but I like that game better. The mini games are OK, but kind of pointless, the puzzle levels without falling blocks are interesting, and challenging but without time pressure don't particularly excite me. Super Puzzle Platformer is better than this game in just about every way. Only play this if you can name twenty falling block puzzle games you love and want more variety than that. There's nothing really wrong with this game except for lakc of randomness though, that's the biggest issue. Expand

The Punchuin is a delightful adventure where players take a journey through a variety of progressively complex puzzle rooms, meeting eclectic characters, and enjoying the wintery atmosphere. It's a short experience, but it more than makes up for it with just the right amount of substance. A perfect wintery pick-up for all puzzle lovers looking for a charming retreat.

The Punchuin is at its best, though, in its core puzzle gameplay, and it’s worth fighting through the other stuff to see that. Its unique blend of action-puzzle-platforming is really fun, and easy to jump into and out of in bite-size chunks.

The Punchuin undoubtedly delivers a solid match-three gameplay experience, but one that's let down by little in the way of level variety and a severe lack of overall content. The charming writing and presentation highlight the passion and skill of the developers but, in the end, what is here feels more like a lovingly-crafted demo than a full release. If you are looking for a quick and enjoyable puzzler, The Punchuin will deliver exactly that but no more. It's fine, but we just wish this package packed more of a punch, as there are plenty of other options out there with more bang for your buck.
