Mar 17, 2022While I can’t excuse the frustration I felt playing through The Plane Effect, I genuinely sympathize with the developers, as I can sense what their vision was. I would argue it’s even possible to interpret their work as intentionally draining, as it metaphorically strengthens the theme. Unfortunately, it crosses a line and all I was left with was the urge to finishing the game as quickly as possible so that I could leave it behind.

Nov 16, 2021The effect is actually plain, as under the hood of pretty visuals lies a not so fun to experience gameplay. There are a number of things one can enjoy here, but for the most part it is a journey that will make you treasure your own commute so much more.

Sep 24, 2021As a game it sucks, and I'm being blunt about that because I don't think it matters. To me, a great work of art is one that encourages reflection, has an emotional resonance, and has a strong message and lesson to share. Set against that criteria, The Plane Effect might not be a great game, but it is a superb work of art. That is so much more important to me.
