With a game like The Oregon Trail, there’s always the concern that it’s simply a cash-grab banking on nostalgia of Millennials and Gen Xers. I’m quite happy to report that isn’t the case here. While there’s clearly a lot of nostalgia to be found, this iteration of The Oregon Trail proudly stands on its own. With one foot in the past and one in the present, it brings together all the best aspects of the original, and adds modern flourishes to give us a near-perfect game. Add in infinite replayability, as well as several different play modes, and this game is an absolute must-have for anybody who grew up with the original.

The Oregon Trail has been brought to the modern day with mindfulness and a wide-breadth of enhanced gameplay.

Sid Meier once famously said that games are a series of interesting decisions. I think it’s that inherent push-and-pull that made The Oregon Trail a fascinating game then, and it continues to make it one here in its latest form. The game can certainly wear thin if you play too much of it, and the framework of its design sometimes betrays its fifty-year-old origins. But in the end this is a game about making hard choices without clearly correct answers. It’s as compelling as it ever was, and Gameloft has done a good job of updating the right parts of it to make it more palatable to modern tastes.

This was a fun game, especially if you have any nostalgia for the original. However, I definitely don't think it's worth the full price- $30.This was a fun game, especially if you have any nostalgia for the original. This is a good game. There is more to manage in this version of the Oregon Trail - cleanliness, stamina, waging spacing, and so on. But beyondThis is a good game. There is more to manage in this version of the Oregon Trail - cleanliness, stamina, waging spacing, and so on. But beyond that, there are other modes / adventures to play. The main trail also features several missions that provide little self-contained stories too. There are also weekly challenges. Music is pretty good too. If you like the original games, this is one of the better updates. You can easily get 10-15 hours of game play out of it. Full Review »

Terribly boring and easy. It took forever to kill my settlers when I was actively trying. Does not live up to the challenge of the originalTerribly boring and easy.
