The story is bad and not very well executed. I couldn't really connect with the protagonist the connections between the characters feels very forced. On the combat side, is very very basic and becomes repetitive really quick. The powers don't feel satisfying, they lack impact.

The game is pretty solid, does some great fan service for League of Legends Players. However, the exposition, story, and enemy types all get very stale by the end game. It feels silly that there is even progression involved or sidequests when the boss fights barely take any actual strategy and in essence you just have to beat down the meatballs and dodge watered down bullet hell mechanics. The game is pretty solid, does some great fan service for League of Legends Players. Would not buy again. Would definitely recommend if you do buy, to wait for this to go on a $10 or $5 sale as that is what it is worth., No replayability, can't get 8 hours of my life back.

Do not recommend. DLC on launch scamming more money from customers with this extra content not even available/accessible until late/end game. Convenient how they skipped over that little condition in the game sale page instead just saying it’s after mission x.

The game has more bugs than acceptable for a Riot backed/associated IP game. So far first 2 hours I’ve ran into: 1) button

    1) button remapping fails to trigger action after remapping requires game restart 2) in/game mechanic janky (frustrating kind) where certain objects you need to hook on to do not trigger hook function unless you move/pan screen manually.

    3) game failing to register hitbox with certain stolen spells on enemy (resulting in nil registered hits on enemy target even though animations trigger). At this stage I ding even know if this is by design for certain spells that are invulnerable to targets you stole from. I don’t think so.

It tries to force a cast of original characters and several weeks of events into a part of Sylas' story that was already finished. They then try to make these characters impactful by completely changing Sylas' character from a lone survivor to a cuddly warm revolution dad. This could have been easily fixed by just continuing Sylas's journey in Freijlord.

The gameplay itself is enjoyable and complex enough to not get boring over the short span of the game, but also nothing that would make a replay or additional challenges worth it as it fails to deliver the precise combat of such titles as Hades.

Overall this game falls short in many ways compared to the expected high quality Riot Games is getting known for outside of their main titles in stories, comics and spin-off titles such as Ruined King.

Even if you are a fan of the Runeterra universe or a fan of indie titles such as Digital Sun's first success Moonlighter, there are simply better, and cheaper, options for both.

Bought this because I play a lot of LOL.

Pros: I enjoy a good lore dump and some interaction with champions from LOL. I enjoy the visual style. Spell stealing and element counters are fun. The combos around recruits, spell stealing, chain grapples etc are awkward at first but then very fun to pull off. Cons: Fairly one dimensional boss fights that you just beat after 1-2

    Cons:
Fairly one dimensional boss fights that you just beat after 1-2 attempts even in the hardest places. Parts are clearly not thought out, like Garen sundering the ground then he tried to path towards you if you switch sides.. wtf. More thought put into the champions using their lol abilities then the fights feeling interesting. Often you have to spell steal bosses to get some high damage move but the game doesnt really tell you when you can do this as at other times you cant steal anything from them. Sometimes its not obvious at all what the spell you've stolen does (I still dont know what the wisteria barrier looking thing does).
Repetitive as fk, half the levels are the same, even the main mission ones.
The roguelike side missions are bad, uninteresting and repetitive. Might have been good with more time.
Game runs like ass on switch, the sound gets slow/glitchy in places, the game crashes multiple times a night when I play, Ive died and been stuck at 0 hp without being able to move..
Honestly the dialogue is weak, Sylas is a **** one moment then the next hes nice. Any emotion thats meant to come across doesnt.
    Linear, very very linear.

This game is mediocre and should have released several months later.

A really solid pixel art hack n' slash. It can get repetitive through out but the boss battles more than make up for it and are easily the highlight of each mission.
I recommend people just start the game on Hard. Normal is too easy, Hard is pretty damn challenging, if there was an in-between difficulty to start out, it' be ideal.

Riot Forge and Digital Sun created a good title with "The Mageseeker". The storyline is fun and motivates to keep playing. The battles with the magic are well done and are fun at the beginning. In our opinion, the price is also a bit too expensive for the scope. Nevertheless, "The Mageseeker" has become a good game for your platform. Give the game a chance!!! Expand

As a fan of League of Legends, The Mageseeker has proven to be a true banter for lore lovers.

There is also a hidden champion as an optional Boss that I won't say to avoid spoilers.

In terms of gameplay the game is excellent, at first the commands left me a little confused but I quickly managed to adapt to them, Sylas has his moveset updated with each new type of champion he finds thanks to the mechanics of copying enemy skills.

The stages are very beautiful and detailed, combine this with the soundtrack that matches the environment very well and you can have a good immersion, especially during the boss fights.

The Mageseeker is a good example of an indie game and would love a sequel.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story expands the League of Legends universe and whets your appetite for a story that is still being told. It lacks a bit of optimization, but it's pretty fun even though it's so linear.

The Mageseeker is an enjoyable ARPG with some interesting insights. Unfortunately, a mission design not up to the standards and some technical issues prevent it from aspiring to the Olympus of the genre.

While the lack of voice acting is something that really disappointed me with how good other aspects are, I still recommend The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story to anyone looking for a quality action RPG with great music and lovely pixel art. As someone who loves Moonlighter, I hope Digital Sun keeps delivering on games like it and The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story going forward.
