You are Dixie Davies, and your dad’s Western-styled theme park has just gone haywire — literally. All the animatronics and robots that usually work the park seem to have short-circuited and are staging a coup! Dixie must take them out one by one, across all three main areas of the park to make it safe again.
The Copper Canyon Dixie Dash has a sweet steampunk-style aesthetic, with its bright colors and dusty Western town setting, its easy to fall in love with the design. The three main areas of town, canyon, and mines have major personality. As a relative newbie to the shooting game genre, I liked exploring the nooks and crannies of the world around me between waves, relishing in the simplicity of navigation and the lack of the tedious side quests that I’m so used to in the games I usually play.
Controls are simple, with twin stick shooting controlled by the trigger buttons and movement with the left joy-stick. The right stick will aim, and pulling the triggers will fire within the cross-hairs. You can jump and move behind cover to avoid enemies, and shots aimed at health packs will restore your own health. Picking up the sniper rifle will allow you to fire more precise shots, and busting off a rusty head or two will make short work of these wired wackos.
Navigating the three level course isn’t terribly hard, and there are no rewards or collectibles to worry about, so gunning for objectives is fairly simple. Most battles are fought in waves, with a score being kept for shots and kills. This keeps gameplay clean, but doesn’t give a lot of replayability in the end, leaving me with nothing more to really do and no real reason to pick the game back up.

The Copper Canyon Dixie Dash has a great premise, and its a shame that the game is so short. With what we are given in this bite-sized adventure, there’s a lot of promise, its just a shame that there’s so little of it. This game would definitely shine with a few more added modes and perhaps some real reasons to go out and explore the levels.
