Looking at this as a standalone set apart from the SAO IP we have a solid 3rd person shooter that rewards a little patience and exploration. The game feels like some of my favorite PS2 JRPGs. The big wins here are customization, replay value, and the relatively open world with a hub. Highly recommend even to fans unfamiliar with the series. Expand

Non posso confrontarlo con l'anime perchè non lo seguo, il gioco ha una trama decente ma è sviluppato grossolanamente, con un combat system sufficente ed una grafica scarna. Mediocre nella sua totalità

I recently bought it on Switch during a 75% off sale, and this is what I got for my money:

-A very enjoyable, gameplay-wise fluid, quite unique mix of third person shooter (with gyro aiming with a decent amount of options) and action rpg. Decent, nice, but still limited character customisation for two of the many characters that can join your party, and lots of looting and weapon

Decent, nice, but still limited character customisation for two of the many characters that can join your party, and lots of looting and weapon customisation.

-A lot of trying to be interested in the "story", but even if I had prior knowledge of the characters and lore, I doubt that the way it's presented and the lack of depth and abundance of slow-paced melodramatic yet very static conversations between loads of characters standing around, each having their pointless lines,.. would have ever managed to hold my attention. Luckily most of that can be skipped. But even then, it may take a while (and a lot of loading screens and "skip, yes" confirmations to actually get to the next gameplay part.

So basically, as an action rpg third person looter shooter, it's a great experience, really. Everything else had me bored or frustrated (when for example, you die immediately after skipping countless conversations, sitting through countless loading screens, only to see you're back in town and have to wait-skip-wait-skip-wait-skip-wait all over again, only to maybe fail again. The part I'm specifically referring to is optional though, yet arguably the most "interesting" part of the "plot").
Short version: great gameplay, terrible piece of media, overall depends on what you're looking for. I wanted a tps arpg, and the demo and sale convinced me to buy this one on Switch, and I'm enjoying it as just that, nothing more. Had they left out everything "more", it would have been a better game for it, in my personal opinion. But I can't speak for anyone else, let alone a fan of the series.

Technically, it works. No more, no less. It doesn't look good, nor does it look really bad, and I had no other issues. The times the game "rebooted" by itself, were actually part of its "story", as it is about a VR MMORPG environment, in which things happen (that I won't spoil) that get "the server" corrupted and every player -you included- kicked out, so while it was weird when skipping most of the dialog, it was actually a nice touch. Just "log in" again, and the story picks right up where it was, with the players discussing what may have gone wrong.

I love this game. I put the most hours in this game. It's an interesting plot and the characters are great as usual. I love the level of customization here. As a “Complete” Edition, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet offers tons of content in a single package. Yet, its bland combat and repetitive universe won’t have much appeal unless you’re a really faithful fan of the series.

This hybrid title between role-playing and third-person shooting loaded with fanservice lands on Nintendo Switch with all its additional content but with many of the same problems present in the previous game.

Fatal Bullet isn’t the best entry in this franchise, but it is a very enjoyable game. On top of that, we get a couple of interesting new features for the Switch, which makes it a good addition for Nintendo’s hybrid console.
