Jul 22, 2019The Mario Party format will always make it a favorite for friends gathering together. However this was one of the few Nintendo Switch games that I felt did not live up to its predecessors. This game does not add anything of significance new to the series, and offers a disappointing 4 total maps. This iteration feels like its missing a significant DLC update.

Oct 28, 2021While this game is flawed, it's still very fun and enjoyable. After 5 games, they finally listened to us. The bad things about this game are that it only has 4 boards and you can only use joy-cons. Despite that, this is the first Mario Party game that I can actually call good since DS.

Feb 27, 2022A decent but flawed party game in the Mario Party series. It got a bit better after Nintendo updated it to support online play.
PROS:
- A boatload of minigames.
- Accessible and fun.
- Nice motion controls.
CONS:
- Just a few boards.
- Requires one joy-con per player.
- Nintendo didn't give it much support, and already replaced it with another Mario Party game on the Switch. -
Nov 19, 2018Weak and dissappointing, mostly due to few minigames being played in a standard game and a small selection of minigames.
The rhythm games section is the best part, and being able to play the tutorial for minigames without entering some kinda special practice mode is a great idea. Hope they use both in the next installment, where the game is actually fun. -

Jan 16, 2021The game itself is fun, but only like one hour straight. There is not a lot of mini games and it soon get a bit boring. The main game mode is very random. It's nice to play sometimes with friends, but that's all.

Jan 8, 2022Sorta fun, but can get boring after half a game. I would rather play the new Mario Party: Superstars.

Oct 5, 2018The game has agreed to abandon the garbage way of the cart, but some things are missing that has to be sorted by updates, 30 or more boards for all boards, the stars have to be 20. If they do that, it makes the game more fun...Free Dlcs

Jul 20, 2020while super Mario party looks like it's a return to form, it's really not. the boards are pretty bad, and there's only 4 of them. but hey, at least they got rid of that stupid car.

Mar 4, 2019A decent but disappointing Mario Party game. The boards are meh, and there's only 4 of them. The game's items are also boring and it is too easy to get stars. The minigames are great though, and it does a better job at living up to the N64 Mario Party's than 10.

Mar 6, 2019Super Mario Party goes back to its roots and delivers just like it should. The vast number of different modes, really prevents any to shine the brightest, but the entire game is a small step back that greatly leaps forward. It makes us only more excited for the next entry. Something we haven't felt with the Mario Party series in ages...

CD-ActionFeb 13, 2019Both players and critics agreed that in the last couple of years Mario Party’s quality has been dropping. Nintendo decided to go for broke this time and I hope slapping “Super” in front of the title heralds the restart of the franchise, because SMP finally delivers what we expected. [12/2018, p.51]

Game World Navigator MagazineDec 21, 2018Complex and unpredictable board game, numerous mini-games and being able to play as your favorite character – those are the three pillars of Mario Party’s success. Neither of these elements was polished to perfection over the years, but together they offer a very enjoyable experience. [Issue#234, p.72]
