    This game has taken too many hours of my life!
    I may as well review after the final major patch update and I won't be renewing my online account which expires soon.
    I was really looking forward to this game once announced and excited to design and play. With each update the game has grown to something wonderful. I enjoyed making levels and proud on showing the world my hours of work in    This game has taken too many hours of my life!

    I was really looking forward to this game once announced and excited to design and play. With each update the game has grown to something wonderful.
    I enjoyed making levels and proud on showing the world my hours of work in designing. However the game has some issues that mildly annoy me:
    - The main menu interface I feel is not over intuitive. Why my maker profile and my costume selections in completely different areas of the game? Me checking and customizing my profile should be in one spot.
    - I cannot search levels using words like "Bowser" and getting Bowser named levels as a filter option
    - I cannot copy and re-upload my levels if I want to make a change. Have to delete and re-upload the same level with a change instead of having two levels uploaded, really don't like that.
    -No 100 lives challenge. Having endless mode you don't get a finale and your progress seems empty.
    I had fun playing the game but my passion faded as I feel 90% of user levels were... less desirable, but that has little to do with the game itself.
    I recommend buying, playing and learning some mechanics. This game at least upskills you in gaming in general    … Expand

    I’d definitely suggest this to anyone who has a Nintendo switch as it’s a game of creativity and fun! Just the idea of making your own Mario level is like a dream come true

    Muy divertido. muy buena kinestesica y musca incluso original. tiene infinitas posibilidades de creación y con actualizaciones gratuitas que expanden mucho el juego. lo único malo es el Online pero eso es por parte de Nintendo y no problema de Mario Maker.

    Mario Maker 2 is the best game I have ever had on switch. I love the creating part. I played the first and loved it but it was a bit limited. Now I have almost all the tools in Mario history to make my own levels and my own worlds. I also can play other people's creative worlds (With Switch online but its pretty cheap so its fine). Online sucks but I don't play online anyway. With thisMario Maker 2 is the best game I have ever had on switch. I love the creating part. I played the first and loved it but it was a bit limited.     A must have for all switch owners.

    I've put 150 hours into Super Mario Maker 2. I've made two levels. The rest of my gameplay time is literally just playing endless mode and tackling amazing levels promoted by streamers and whatever is popular in the charts. Some level creators know the creation tools inside out and have created some truly marvellous levels. Since it's release, there    A must have for all switch owners.

    I've put 150 hours into Super Mario Maker 2. I've made two levels. The rest of my gameplay time is literally just playing endless mode and tackling amazing levels promoted by streamers and whatever is popular in the charts.

    Some level creators know the creation tools inside out and have created some truly marvellous levels. Since it's release, there have been two free major content updates which has kept the game fresh. You can even play as Link, sword, bow, bombs and shield all in tow.

    As I said before, I've only made 2 levels. So goes to show you don't have to get this game just for the creation side.

    It is an infinite mario maker featuring 5 distinct mario styles from the last 30 years. It completely overshadows the newer mainline 2D games. Super Mario U Deluxe for example, is just stale in comparison and I got bored very quickly.

    There are multiplayer modes which unfortunetely as per usual Nintendo service, laggy as heck. And i've avoided playing them.

    The new addition of the world creator is a much wanted feature Nintendo were kind enough to give to us in recent months.

    Would be a 10/10 but 9/10 due to laggy multiplayer.    … Expand

    Not even can you create your very own unique Mario levels, but you can also create your very own worlds! While this feature doesn't have that many tools to play around with, it basically gives players the option to create their very own Super Mario game.

    This game is a lot of fun. There is however too difficult to find actually interesting levels to play - there are way too many gimmicky levels shared by people, in my opinion, so you need to trawl through a lot of mundane stuff to find the odd good level. Still, the concept is great, and with a better search engine - would be even better!

    Sorting through the not-so-great levels and levels designed to exploit the game make it a bit tough at times, but it is easy to sink hundreds of hours into this game. Easily one of the best titles on the Switch.

    I haven't tried making any courses yet but even the story mode is way better than New Super Mario Bros Deluxe.

    There are many superb levels made by users and it is useful that you can select difficulty. You do have to put up with a load of completely rubbish user levels too though.

    Well worth buying instead of new mario deluxe even of you dont plan to make your own courses

    Super Mario Maker 2 has blown me away! I rate it out of 10 9.5. The reason for this is no ice flower, no 3D making and no help mode. The help mode is an idea made by me. You can turn it off by clicking on it. I enjoyed the 3.0 update very much. - Ollie aged 7

    Impressive what can be done with a pair of pipes and some goombas. It may take a few hours to build a decent level, but the result and the simplicity to create them is the best of the game. Of course if you are like me, more than playing the levels that the community has created than creating them, you will have a more challenging classic super mario with infinity of levels. Essential.

    This is a game that started out ok and got better over time. With new updates, like the Link power up addition and the recent inclusion of many power ups, this game has become a great time.

    However, the online is bad, because Switch Online really f**king sucks, and the paywall subscription crap is annoying

You can create levels, create a world, you can play online with other players in competitive or cooperative, you have a speedrun mode, play online levels and worlds, play the history mode, whatever.     After close to 70 hours on the game, it s a straight 9/10 from me. You only really need two reasons: it's a proper Mario game and it's basically endless. Some of the user levels I've come across are truly astounding (but not everyone is a game designer). This game allows for boundless creativity and re-playability, so a great investment.

SMM2 adds new items, mechanics, online multiplayer, a brand-new story mode with levels made by Nintendo themselves. Although the Story Mode is nothing remarkable or memorable, the levels by Nintendo are very interesting and teach players about the many items and mechanics that will be sure to give creators ideas when making their own levels. Speaking of level creating, the whole level creation system just feels like a downgrade from the Wii U game. Yes, I realize that the Wii U had a gamepad with a stylus and also acted as a second screen, but Level design in Mario Maker 2 feels clunky and unorganized with the analog stick or touchpad with a finger. A level that could be made in 30 minutes in the original game could take an hour or two in this game. Also, this game loses all Amiibo functionality so the cool character costumes from the first game are completely gone. The addition of Link as a character in the game opens up to more creative level designs, but it doesn't fill the void of losing all the costumes in what was a pointless removal. The next gripe about the game I have to bring up is Online Multiplayer. The Multiplayer is unstable and can be borderline unplayable at times. I've always dreamed of playing Online Multiplayer with people, but it seems as I will have to keep dreaming as the unbearable lag in some games keeps me from playing it. Playing with friends online is much more stable and a better experience, but it doesn't fix that overall the Online is just unplayable at times. Although the game isn't as great as the first title, it does bring some of the spirit back and playing levels by the community can make a good time.… Expand

    I loved MM1, but this game is awful - why? Because of the Boos. My kid felt so down when she she realized her levels were buried because of boos. MM1 was so much better for the young kiddos. They turned MM into a streamers day job.

    The game editor works pleasantly as in the first game, what's more, it's been improved. It's easier to create levels,    I was sceptical when this sequel got announced. But the most important thing is that new graphics inspired in Super Mario 3D world are available to create and play with, which are really delightful and ideal for a new super mario 2D game.
    The way yo can play levels created by the community works in the same way as in the first Mario maker. In addition, it's quite simple use filters in order to find what you're looking for, so you won't get lost. The only issue i find is that the browser is old fashioned. To look for a specific level it's necessary to introduce its ID. I reckon that we should be able to introduce the name of the levels we're searching for.
    One of the new things that caught my eye was the story mode. It's a great idea for those players who don't have an online subscription and for those who just like to exploit the whole game and enjoy the experience all the gamemodes bring. Moreover, Nintendo one more time has demonstrated that is the best company creating levels; all of them have top quality.
    The main problem this game has is its online mode, which is really disappointing. I don't understand why this service works so well in games like Splatoon 2 or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and works so bad in this one. Both competitive and cooperative modes are literally unplayable due to the lag. It's a pity that a gamemode with such a big potential are not able to play in proper conditions.    … Expand

    A game like Super Mario Maker 2 is what I think is the future of 2d Mario games. Think about it even if you don’t really like making your own levels there’s so many levels to play. There’s even a great story mode. The story was nothing special compared to other games but it was good considering how hard it would be to make a story based on tons of different levels.

I’m referring to you the building levels feature the prime feature, it’s very hard and boring to control unlink the first game which was very easy. The reason is because now you can play up to 4 players which is amazing, but doesn’t make sense to remove the Amiibo Costumes Feature. Super Mario Maker 2 is an incredible game with its levels online and creativity, however the absence of The charm of the last game and the terrible way to build levels make the game go down a lot I just wish they forced more on the charm and building.     Making Levels: Making levels is very good with very amount of items and other stuff they have. They were really right about; "Only your imagination is the limit".Tho the making is very good and fun the screen for it is very small to work with, luckly you can make the screen go very big by pressing the analog stick and a big con about the making is its horrible to switch over to items to the timer and other but you can solve that bye using it handheld and touching the screen.

    Online Play: This is a f*****g joke.

    Multiplayer (Local):Very nice, only good for the ones that are supposed to be played multiplayer.

    Other:If you love mario and platformers this is the best game for you. If you wanna have fun with this game play endless mode on normal diffeculty and beat the story mode for bonuses for hats and items and finally have nice and ambitious ideas for levels then make and send them to the internet    … Expand

    This is a great game for the Nintendo Switch. You should buy it but don't buy if this is your first game for the switch. sure if you want this get it but i dont think that this game should be a first game for nintendo switch. there are so many elements in this game that you can do. like you can make cool mario levels. i dont know other companies that compete with nintendo in the consoleThis is a great game for the Nintendo Switch.     This game adds so many new elements that makes almost every level creative and unique. It feels like the levels that you can make are seemingly endless. My only complaint is that the story mode is a bit dull, but that was expected. There are some users that make some pretty bad levels too, but that's not Nintendo's fault. Overall, amazing game, you NEED to purchase it!

    This game needs improvements, but despite its very, very significant flaws, it's top of the line when it comes to modern games. It's just genius so much of what they got right with this game. It's so much fun making a course and just sending it to someone on twitch to see how they handle it. It's been the most interactive single player game I've ever seen...that probably has ever existed.

    垃圾图太多，官方应该给一个自动撤销垃圾图的机制。不然很影响游戏体验。
    一张图不能只是点赞和点踩那么简单，应该加上分数。
    多人合作其实挺累赘了，建议下一款深度研究一下如何让玩家真正体会到合作的乐趣。

    Its all fun and games until you play multiplayer, which is almost impossible due to extreme LAG. And its even worse for me because I bought this game with the one-year nintendo switch online subscription. SHAME ON YOU, Nintendo.

    El juego es muy divertido.
    La posibilidad de crear tus propios mundos y a su vez tratar de obtener la victoria en el mapa de otras personas lo hace un juego con contenido casi ilimitado. Con la nueva inclusión de las carreras de ninjis y la posibilidad de usar a Link, han hecho que sea mucho mas divertido

I also ended up spending a lot of time making levels in docked mode with the finger cursor, which i never thought would work well beforehand.     Almost endless fun can be had making your own levels (especially if you have family or friends who can play them)
    The only way I would improve this game is to go all the way and let us make full custom worlds
    This probably gets a 7.5 from me

    Nostalgia para los que jugabamos Super Mario Bros 3 para mi los juegos bidimensionales de Mario son mejores, podrán ser sencillos en el sentido de jugabilidad (correr y saltar) pero eso es suficiente para entretenerse. Los colores de los gráficos son vivos, los gráficos están bien obviamente son en estilo caricatura. Vamos a lo importante, se puede poner aprueba    El juego es PERFECTO.

    Vamos a lo importante, se puede poner aprueba tu creatividad, diseñas tus propios niveles con plantillas de juegos clásicos de Mario Bros y además otros pueden jugar tus niveles vía online, puedes probar los niveles difíciles creador por otros. Definitivamente si quieres un reto o un juego difícil , aquí lo puedes encontrar también, de hecho esa es una mis razones para subir la calificación.

    Sin dudarlo, para mi el mejor juego que ha habido de Super Mario Bros en general. Los niveles hechos por la misma Nintendo pueden no ser tan perfectos como lo eran en Super Mario Bros 3 o Super Mario World. Pero te ayudan a comprender las mecanicas de los distintos juegos. Pero la perfección radica en los millones de niveles online que te dan horas y horas de disfrute.

    the most fantastic game every. a game that lets you be a game developer without all the fuss.
    if only it didn't have so many limitations on it, it would be absolutely amazing.
    This game has inspired me to work on my own creative aspirations and to utilize digital platforms.
    As a creative gamer, i played 200 hours of this game, and almost entirely just in creative mode.

    A absolute must-but for the Switch. The addition of new themes and items are chosen perfectly. The story mode showcases almost everything the game can do. Overall, a Amazing Game. I could keep playing this game for hours on end.

    It's an awesome game but is kind of sad that it lacks some of the things that made the first Mario maker so special, like the mystery mushroom outfits, or the fly minigame... Even so, the Story is a great addition to the formula

    I was extremely hyped for this game, a sequel to one of the best Wii U games did it disappoint, Yes and No. Yes as in certain aspects like i was expecting just a bit more with the level creator not to say it was bad just not fantastic. No The story mode was way better than i thought.     Nothing really negative to mention.
    Sure there are some badly designed levels by users but you can just skip those if you are annoyed.
    The Multiplayer is horrible to play because of recurring lag spikes. So that's why it's only 9/10

    Not as fun of a level creator as the first one. Terrible online gameplay most of the time as of the time of writing. No amiibo support isn't a problem (for me as I don't own any), but they removed the hundreds of different mushroom transformations the first game had, which is a huge bummer really. Other than that, the game is a better Mario Maker than the first.

    It does what it says on the tin, my only issue with the game is that it is difficult to build levels in docked mode not impossible, but difficult.

    This is the definitive way to play mario, with infinite levels, i would always recommend this over super mario bros U deluxe.

    The amount of re-playability is off the charts. Story mode is a bonus. You will have hours and hours of fun creating your own levels and playing online levels from the community.

    Super Mario Maker 2 is a master piece. A game you can enjoy everywhere, anytime and forever. You can play all days and never finish the amount of levels there are published on the course world. It has very funny game modes in online and offline.

    En este caso se siente mucho más variado y con un filtro mucho mejor para encontrarte niveles en la dificultad que prefieras, sobre todo en el Modo desafío, donde clarisimamente separará niveles muy dificiles de los muy fáciles, haciendo que estés cómodo con tu nivel de juego.    Sin duda era necesario que apareciera también en Switch. las novedades que trae lo hacen bastante diferente.

La idea y el formato es bueno, pero técnicamente funciona muy mal a día de hoy, quizá la próxima actualización lo arregle, pero aún seguimos esperando.

    El punto negativo de salida fue que entre esos servicios online no estuviera el jugar con amigos, aunque anunciaron que estaría, así que no me molesto por ello hasta que actualicen.

    Por lo demás, los 4 estilos típicos con sus novedades siguen expandiendo las ideas y los diferentes niveles que se pueden crear y luego el estilo nuevo de Mario 3D World dando otra vuelta de tuerca con la esperanza, además, de que aparezcan más estilos diferentes.     I'll be quite honest for a second, I didn't think I'd be sitting here writing a review of this game. Make no mistake, I enjoyed the short time I spent with the original "Super Mario Maker" back in 2015, but I'll be honest, I'm not one for level-creators and/or game creators like this. Even for how much I enjoyed a game like "Disney Infinity" that was heavily creation-based, I often ignoredI'll be quite honest for a second, I didn't think I'd be sitting here writing a review of this game. Make no mistake, I enjoyed the short time I spent with the original "Super Mario Maker" back in 2015, but I'll be honest, I'm not one for level-creators and/or game creators like this. Even for how much I enjoyed a game like "Disney Infinity" that was heavily creation-based, I often ignored the creation aspect and skipped to the main "story mode" in the game, if you will. To that effect, when "Super Mario Maker 2" was announced, I kinda just responded with the same thing I always say about games that aren't for me: "I'm happy for the fans that wanted it, but I probably won't get it." But as you may know, I'm a largely offline gamer that enjoys single-player campaigns/Story Modes in games, so when I heard "Super Mario Maker 2" had a Story Mode, my interest was piqued and I chose to play the game. Boy, am I glad I did.
    "Super Mario Maker 2" is rip-roaring fun, even if you're like me and don't often create levels. The main Story Mode won't take you very long to beat, but there's incredible mission variety here and a lot of missions to complete. I still had about 10 pages worth of jobs to complete once completing the Story Mode, and even near the end, I still felt like I was learning so many new things. For those in it for the building, however, the new tools and mechanics allow for much deeper and more polished levels, and while the addition of the "Super Mario 3D World" theme might seem like a minor thing, it actually adds a nice extra dimension to the gameplay, with several new Power-Ups and ways to control as well (you can long jump, wear the Cat Suit, AND drive a Koopa Car! I might just be nerding out a bit more than I should but that's awesome!). And beyond that, the game is visually dazzling, the controls feel smooth, and the game is simply oozing with creativity. Even in the levels you can access in the main Story Mode, which were just pre-created by Nintendo, this is one of those games where you can just feel the fun the developers had in making it. It's a joyful and stunning game that brings with it all the best aspects of the 2D (and 2.5D, for that matter) "Super Mario" games.
    I honestly can't complain about much with this game. "Super Mario Maker 2" more than exceeded my expectations, and even as someone that doesn't create a ton of levels or anything like that, I found that the game gave me more than plenty to do, expanded upon the first game amazingly, and reminded me why the "Mario" platformers are some of the most charming, inventive, and creative games ever made. if you haven't had the chance to play this yet, you're doing yourself a disservice. Make it a point to check out "Super Mario Maker 2," because regardless of whether or not you're a builder, you're gonna have a blast with this one.

    An amazing game! Really makes you play fun, creative and sometime trash levels and this is way better then 1 because they really added lots of things that make your level more accessible. Recommended

The thing that I enjoy most about the story mode is how every level has been designed and created by Nintendo game designers, giving players to the opportunity to look into the works behind how Nintendo game designers make levels, whilst also learning about new mechanics that they never thought could work. The online mode is also a good feature to have, which allows players to be inspired to rise up to the top and make a world renowned level. The online mode is also good if you want to play people's levels on the fly, thanks to the fact that you could download levels. Overall, I can truly say is that this game is excellent.     A truly awful game that goes to show, new isn't always better, there are barely any new features, and the best part of the 1st game, amiibo costumes, where removed! Also, you need a subscription to get in when you didn't in the 1st one, and I haven't even talked about the online multiplayer yet, oh it's bad, and SUPER laggy.

    As someone who's always loved level editors and admires game design, this is my childhood dream come true. I make my own levels in the Mario universe and it feels great. It is a fairly robust level editor when you consider the "simplicity" of the level design.

    This game is fun, but it could be a lot better. I have played some good levels, but I have also seen some awful levels made by children. This game is ruined by kids who make horrible levels and dislike actual good levels just because it isnt in 3d world or because it is too hard. Also, the multiplayer is so slow and laggy, I wouldn't recommend it. The maker mode is very nice, all there isThis game is fun, but it could be a lot better. Between the annoying level creation due to the switch and overly large UI, the troll levels, the lack of any functioning online play, the lack of playing with friends, and so much more... it is hard to rate this game any higher than 6. If you find the sweet spot and have patience designing levels correctly, orAs with everything on metacritic, ignore 10's and 0's. This game is more of a 6. If you find the sweet spot and have patience designing levels correctly, or for the one or two you may get out of 100 user created levels that isn't designed by trolls, you will be rewarded with a smile. Sad fact is, Nintendo hasn't produced a complete game in a very long time, and this is no exception. I guess it is true when people say Nintendo's second rendition of any new style game is, well.. never done again and so far in left field people can't stand it.     Nintendo will surely need to work on new artistic and mechanical styles to make its future 2D Mario games attractive, as Super Mario Maker 2 takes all the best from Super Mario Maker 1 and boosts the game with new options, a better interface, more customization, themes, night mode, interesting enemies and wraps the whole package with a fun new story mode and an online mode that even with its flaws, is competent.Super Mario Maker 2 offers the ultimate experience for Mario 2D fans and certainly yields much more fun than the 60$ what it is charged for.
