    This game is absolutely amazing. The Story Mode has a ton of content and the creation mode has a bunch of new content that makes it even better than the first Mario Maker game. So much replayability here that it's hard to know where to stare. Super Mario Maker 2 is definitely a contender for game of the year.

    I agree that the online multiplayer needs to be fixed (why are 4 player multiplayer switch games like this and Smash so laggy?), but it can't be overstated how much of a fan service this is for Mario fans. I grew up on the SNES and Super Mario World is one of the first games I remember playing and loving. I dare say this game is above and beyond the best 2D mario platformer that'sI agree that the online multiplayer needs to be fixed (why are 4 player multiplayer switch games like this and Smash so laggy?), but it can't be overstated how much of a fan service this is for Mario fans.     3 days into this game, and after trying out all modes, this could seriously be the best 2D Mario game of all time. My nostalgia has SMB 3 in my top 10 games ever, but the endless variety found here may even top the level design in that game! Add competitive multiplayer (!!), and a story mode and you have what could potentially be considered a masterpiece. Nintendo at it's finest here!

    There is so much game in this game. The story mode alone has 100 levels-- but a word of caution: I recommend getting the online bundle version of this game. If you do not have Nintendo Online, you will not be able to access some of the content. Other than that, this is probably the only 2D Mario you will ever need.     This is an absolute must-buy for the Switch. It takes Mario Maker 1 and adds a huge amount of things to it. New styles, new themes, night versions of all of them, vertical levels, custom scroll, multiplayer co-op and versus both local and online, a full story mode, ...

    I could go on and on, but the tl;dr is that you owe it to yourself to get this if you even remotely enjoy platformers    This is an absolute must-buy for the Switch.     Amazing game. Better than the first one in most things, although it does lose a little bit of the charm the first one had on simple little things... Everything else is definitely better though. Great story mode, 3D World style looks amazing, the other 4 styles are as good as ever with more themes to choose from. Great music, solid controls, editing is better in handheld but you will getAmazing game.     I'll be quite honest for a second, I didn't think I'd be sitting here writing a review of this game. Make no mistake, I enjoyed the short time I spent with the original "Super Mario Maker" back in 2015, but I'll be honest, I'm not one for level-creators and/or game creators like this. Even for how much I enjoyed a game like "Disney Infinity" that was heavily creation-based, I often ignoredI'll be quite honest for a second, I didn't think I'd be sitting here writing a review of this game. Make no mistake, I enjoyed the short time I spent with the original "Super Mario Maker" back in 2015, but I'll be honest, I'm not one for level-creators and/or game creators like this. Even for how much I enjoyed a game like "Disney Infinity" that was heavily creation-based, I often ignored the creation aspect and skipped to the main "story mode" in the game, if you will. To that effect, when "Super Mario Maker 2" was announced, I kinda just responded with the same thing I always say about games that aren't for me: "I'm happy for the fans that wanted it, but I probably won't get it." But as you may know, I'm a largely offline gamer that enjoys single-player campaigns/Story Modes in games, so when I heard "Super Mario Maker 2" had a Story Mode, my interest was piqued and I chose to play the game. Boy, am I glad I did.
    "Super Mario Maker 2" is rip-roaring fun, even if you're like me and don't often create levels. The main Story Mode won't take you very long to beat, but there's incredible mission variety here and a lot of missions to complete. I still had about 10 pages worth of jobs to complete once completing the Story Mode, and even near the end, I still felt like I was learning so many new things. For those in it for the building, however, the new tools and mechanics allow for much deeper and more polished levels, and while the addition of the "Super Mario 3D World" theme might seem like a minor thing, it actually adds a nice extra dimension to the gameplay, with several new Power-Ups and ways to control as well (you can long jump, wear the Cat Suit, AND drive a Koopa Car! I might just be nerding out a bit more than I should but that's awesome!). And beyond that, the game is visually dazzling, the controls feel smooth, and the game is simply oozing with creativity. Even in the levels you can access in the main Story Mode, which were just pre-created by Nintendo, this is one of those games where you can just feel the fun the developers had in making it. It's a joyful and stunning game that brings with it all the best aspects of the 2D (and 2.5D, for that matter) "Super Mario" games.
    I honestly can't complain about much with this game. "Super Mario Maker 2" more than exceeded my expectations, and even as someone that doesn't create a ton of levels or anything like that, I found that the game gave me more than plenty to do, expanded upon the first game amazingly, and reminded me why the "Mario" platformers are some of the most charming, inventive, and creative games ever made. if you haven't had the chance to play this yet, you're doing yourself a disservice. Make it a point to check out "Super Mario Maker 2," because regardless of whether or not you're a builder, you're gonna have a blast with this one.

    One of the best games I ever played. Great game and great content, it is a shame I missed the first one but I loved the second especially the Story Mode. The Story Mode is a bit difficult some levels are amazing which offers tons of puzzles. If you're having trouble coming up with level ideas, the story mode (where you play through pre-made levels) can provide a lot of inspiration.     One minute 8-bit Mario is kicking Koopa shells and bopping blocks and the next minute 3D Kitty Mario is pawing away at Goombas being shot out of a bullet cannon. Amazing player created levels already showcase the baffling level of creativity of the Nintendo gaming community. The dynamic between playing such skillfully crafted levels and knowing that you technically have the potential to somehow make them yourself is unlike anything else in modern gaming. Having not played MM1 I'm quite astounded at the way Nintendo has seamlessly rolled 30+ years of their classic 2D platformer into one cohesive package.
    When levels change from original Mario theme to the newer 3D Mario theme and then to Super Mario 3 graphics its not only cool but it's visually refreshing to my eyes!
    Hopefully the popularity of this game will lead to more games that allow players to leave their own fingerprints on the legacy of the games they love!    … Expand

    Super Mario Maker 2 is an amazing sequel to a underrated game on the Wii U. Mario Maker 2 improves the first game in every way and adds content that is awesome. There is so much content in this game and it’s made by a great community. Nintendo has succeeded again in making a fantastic Switch game. This is an absolute must buy for the Nintendo Switch.

    This is a game that started out ok and got better over time. With new updates, like the Link power up addition and the recent inclusion of many power ups, this game has become a great time.

    However, the online is bad, because Switch Online really f**king sucks, and the paywall subscription crap is annoying

    Muy divertido. muy buena kinestesica y musca incluso original. tiene infinitas posibilidades de creación y con actualizaciones gratuitas que expanden mucho el juego. lo único malo es el Online pero eso es por parte de Nintendo y no problema de Mario Maker.

    El juego es muy divertido.
    La posibilidad de crear tus propios mundos y a su vez tratar de obtener la victoria en el mapa de otras personas lo hace un juego con contenido casi ilimitado. Con la nueva inclusión de las carreras de ninjis y la posibilidad de usar a Link, han hecho que sea mucho mas divertido

    Nintendo will surely need to work on new artistic and mechanical styles to make its future 2D Mario games attractive, as Super Mario Maker 2 takes all the best from Super Mario Maker 1 and boosts the game with new options, a better interface, more customization, themes, night mode, interesting enemies and wraps the whole package with a fun new story mode and an online mode that even with its flaws, is competent.Super Mario Maker 2 offers the ultimate experience for Mario 2D fans and certainly yields much more fun than the 60$ what it is charged for.

    Another masterpiece by Nintendo. Super Mario Maker 2 is a delight for every creative soul out there - and yet also cares about players with no interest in designing their own levels. There are dozens of hours of pure fun for both of those groups.
