Apr 18, 2025Perhaps the most ringing endorsement of the game is the fact that the group of writers I played with is on board to finish the rest of the campaign even after our reviews are done. Even with no obligation to continue playing, it’s still a game I’m compelled to return to. Between its intricate character classes, wonderful voice acting from Anjali Bhimani, and how the title balances teamwork and individual player freedom, Sunderfolk is a real gem.

Apr 28, 2025Sunderfolk is an engaging and fun game that combines tactical gameplay with the charm of classic tabletop RPGs. While the story isn’t incredibly gripping, the fun of experimenting with different classes and playing with various friends keeps it fresh. The fact that only one person needs the game, and others can join remotely, is a major plus, making it a fantastic modern take on classic tabletop RPGs.

Apr 18, 2025Sunderfolk proves to be an admirable debut from developer Secret Door. It features many of the best aspects of tabletop games, capably molded into a two-screen video gaming experience. Even the parts of the game that feel subpar, like the mundane story, can still be a net positive simply through the power of friendship. Whether folks come together through a weekly game night or through a short session on Discord, Sunderfolk's bold ideas shine through and will hopefully set the stage for more exciting campaigns down the road.

Apr 18, 2025Still, Sunderfolk is best enjoyed with friends, whether it’s online or on the couch. I’m looking forward to furthering my adventures with this game on Switch. It’s an incredibly neat idea and concept that feels right at home on a Nintendo platform. When I can navigate adult life to get a regular group together to play through this, I’ll hopefully be back with a scored review. [Review in Progress]
