Dec 21, 2019The game features a pretty solid gameplay experience, a very good use of the HD Rumble feature and a remarkable amount of content to explore. Its roguelite component means the sections are always different, which can sometimes lead to errors in the procedure, and the exploration will force the players to use the map way too frequently but Sublevel Zero Redux has enough elements to appeal to both fans of the genre and beginners alike.

Dec 10, 2019Sublevel Zero Redux has helped remind us that 6DOF gameplay is something that should return in bigger bulk, and fans that enjoy games like Descent will see things here to relish – tight controls, fluid movement and the challenge. The small issues with Sublevel Zero Redux come with its procedurally-generated and roguelite elements, mainly the former, where levels are not as engaging as they could be, and so its down to the punchy, fun combat and the constant supply of improved weapons to keep the game engaging until the end of its multi-campaign, rather than staying after it is over to improve runs.

Nov 25, 2019Whether you happened to cross paths with this odd little genre during its brief popularity or Sublevel Zero Redux will be your first dizzying journey, you’re in for a great blend of retro game design with a twist of modern mechanics. While I do wish the art and mechanics worked a little better together now and then, it doesn’t hamper the addictive gameplay to any significant degree. Grab some motion sickness medicine and get ready to spin and shoot.
