Feb 7, 2020If you don’t mind paying a Switch Tax, there’s a lot to like about Strike! It’s more or less a straightforward bowling game with a couple of minigames thrown in to pad out the game, but that doesn’t make it any less fun — especially if, like me, you’re playing it solo in handheld mode. It’s there that you see the game as it was designed to be played, with touch controls on a vertical screen, and it’s really easy to get sucked in to game after game. It’s intuitive and it’s addictive, which are two very good qualities for a game like this to have.

Feb 18, 2020Strike! Ten Pin Bowling doesn’t do anything super crazy with the formula, but it doesn’t really have to. This is still a charming, well-put-together little bowling title that’ll allow you to have fun without going to a real alley (or if you’re like me, there isn’t even one to go to in real life).

Feb 24, 2020Time, place, and presentation matters in context of Strike! Ten Pin Bowling. Wii Sports was attached as a hot selling point to the Wii as a fresh new device and novel way to play at the time. Miis with their customizable faces and reactions when dropping a ball added a lot of personality this title is missing. Strike! Ten Pin Bowling has none of that going for it, and while it ticks off a lot of the same boxes you’d look for in a pick-up-and-play bowling game to share with family, the lack of character and slightly more complex controls prevented it from catching fire in my home. It’s a completely serviceable bowling experience, but one that doesn’t reach the heights of its predecessors.
