Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar

It’s a fun time if you’re a fan of farming simulators. Its beautiful visuals will draw you in, and its wonderful cast will keep you there. Not only that, but this game does a great job of giving you a goal and providing you with the tools to get there. I can’t think of a single time when I felt like I wanted to put my switch down from playing this because I was bored. I will be honest and say that it can feel repetitive in some bits and a little bit easy/simple in others, but that is more so a byproduct of the genre than any fault of this specific title. All in all, if you’re itching for a good farming simulator to sink your teeth into this fall, I recommend you pick this up. I promise you won’t regret it!

There are some minor elements of Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar that feel like remnants from its outdated DS counterpart. But there’s so much more that is lovingly updated, elevating the experience to one that stands out among its predecessors. Grand Bazaar is a grand remake that’s easy to recommend to fans of the series and fans of farming sims in general. Just like the winds of change brought it richer character stories, an emphasized overarching narrative, and voice acting, hopefully Grand Bazaar’s eastward winds carry these new features and concepts into future Story of Seasons games.

I have been playing farming games for quite a while now, going back to the original Harvest Moon on the Super Nintendo. I can honestly say that Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar likely will rank in my top five games in the genre. There is plenty to do in the game, the voice acting is surprisingly well done, and most importantly of all, it is not a chore to play. I never played the DS original of this; however, I am confident when I say that this is a definitive version of the game and well worth checking out.

Those eager for another compelling, robust and utterly pleasant farming sim will find a wealth of fun to be had in Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar. This remake of the title that started it all is impressively complete and has a few new surprises in store, making it essential for genre fans. The bazaar mechanic further ups the ante and ensures every in-game week culminates in something exciting, making this one of the freshest and most enjoyable expressions of the classic farming sim experience.

It seems that XSEED Games has not prioritized innovative mechanics, but instead the publisher's focus remains on bringing titles from the past in new outfit without leveraging the full potential of certain mechanics.
