This game in a way could be endless though if you have wanted it to. There is however a background narrative and a plateau on how much more you can progress though that was noticeable right around 50 hours. When I started reaching the plateau I mostly was just waiting around for a certain season to finish some quests and the community center. With that time I was able to engage a lot with getting to know the community, so it still felt fun. When I was making $1 million+ in income and never really felt struggling anymore and anything extra felt like fluff, maxed out all my stats, finished a good chunk of relationships, I definetly knew the end was in sight.

I really enjoyed my time with this and honestly so glad I finally got around to playing. I knew there was hype about this game and I can see why now. It's really the ultimate farming/social sim game and has everything I could have asked for.

I really enjoyed managing and designing my farm. It was the ultimate cozy game for me to zone out to when listening to an audiobook. I also enjoyed the locals and getting to know them. Although I wish some more story beats were given to them all, some felt kinda pointless to level up and even a bit tedious.

Overall though I'm super satisfied with this entire experience. When I finally felt like I reached the end and plateaued, in my head I roleplayed that my job was done, the big bad was kicked out, grandpa was happy and my character sold off everything I saved up throughout my play through. By the end I had around 30 million, so my character could leave into the sunset rich and fulfilled.

Cozy game! I can't say that it's very exciting, but it's not a bad road game. After all, its format is a smartphone. Although I played it on a 50-inch TV screen. I played for 100 hours, then I feel sorry for the time.

The translation of the text into English:

I can only define this masterpiece in one simple word: AMAZING. If you're hesitating whether to buy it or not, beyond the fact that the game's price is a steal, especially when it's on sale, I can vouch blindly, with my more than 63 hours spent in this game, that it's worth buying without a doubt. It's incredibly entertaining, with a beautiful aesthetic and a soundtrack that's an absolute gem, very relaxing, but that doesn't mean it won't give you some good battles and challenges.

You can tell that Eric Barone (Creator of Stardew) poured a lot of love and care into this game, and even though he's working on his new game "Haunted Chocolatier," which looks very promising based on the previews, he hasn't completely abandoned Stardew. On the contrary, he continues to update and fix small details in the game. I won't spoil anything about the game because it's so rewarding to explore it yourself and be amazed by every detail the creator has left for us.

I just want to express my gratitude to Eric Barone for giving us this soulful delight called "Stardew Valley," and I eagerly await his new title, which seems even more addictive than our beloved farming game!

MEH. This is what comes up to my mind when I think of stardew valley. The game was ok at the beginning, but then started to be too boring. There's not much you can doo, the back and forth is frustrating, the days are too short to do much. I was excited at the beginning but then ended up really disappointed. Plus the music is awful.

This sets the bar high for farming sims.
There isn't a single mechanic in the game that is bothering me.

    Cons:
    - Gamepad controls are not perfect, this game is made for mouse + keyboard.
    - Performance on Switch not the best. On rainy days the fps can take a dive, but it does not matter in this kind of game really.

An amazing mix of retro Harvest Moon elements and new features, impeccable! Stardew delivers short 20-minute days where you try to farm, fish, mine and socialize as much as you can to build an empire out of your deceased Grandpa's farm.

Pros and cons from top to bottom:
Pro: Loads of features: multiplayer, multiple farm layouts, dungeon crawling and crafting, for as start.
Pro: Loads of content: I blew over 120 hours on this game and rarely felt like it was too grindy or boring (assuming you can deal with the repetitive style of Farm Sims) .
Pro: The cast is genuinely interesting once you get to know them. I like that they have flaws like the Mayor who won't acknowledge his romance with one of the other townsfolk and the bachelor who gets blackout drunk on a few occasions.
Con: The hero's inventory is too small, I don't mind leaving some stuff behind, but it starts out puny and ends not quite big enough. (granted also true for most games in the genre)

    Other minor notes:
    - The fishing mini game is too "hardcore" for some players.
    - Soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in a farm sim (granted not a strength of the genre IMO).
    - Graphics are obviously "just" 16-bit, not a big deal to me, but there it is.
    - The big Community Center quest forces you into doing a bit of everything, you'd have to ignore it if you don't want to fish or mine, for example.
    - You could get loads of mods by playing on PC, I don't care, but you might.
    Replay Value:

    - I spent over 120 hours on my first play-through and never found myself bored.
    - Between multiple farm layouts, endless customization on the farm, and the usual romance/marriage cycle, feels like lots of replayability.
    - The game is generally pretty easy, minus the fishing game and some of the mining.

Dollar Value: I’d pay around $70 CDN (Roughly $50 US) for this game, way over the actual asking price. Stardew Valley is the king of the genre as far as I'm concerned.

I obviously have to give it 5 stars, because its a 45$ game value being sold only for 15$ and its very fin and very addictikng. You are basically constantly upgrading everything, and its not boring like animal crossing, crops don't take as long to grow. Just buy it and thank me later

you do need to have the wiki open and do a bunch of research before being able to finish the game. This does not mean that the is not enjoyable. It's super fun. But I literally had to have a little real to do list and multiple tabs open to beat it. Kind of helped my depression in a way I don't fully comprehend as well. Just got me excited about doing mundane tasks.

An astonishing labor of love made by one person. While it seems simple at first, the game becomes increasingly deep and complex. Super satisfying and relaxing to enjoy, plus the coop mode is a blast. Only minor complaints would be the clunky dialogue and non-existant NPC AI (villagers can't navigate obstacles).

The highlight in the farming game genre. Fun with hundreds of hours that can be spent learning about the characters in the game, making your farm better and better, and adventuring in the caves. It's the best combination of relaxing after a bad day at work and satisfactory progress in the town of the game. The game is really deserving of this score and your time.

Despite all this praise, the game isn't perfect, there are occasional graphical issues in some of the areas of the game that look kind of ugly and there are multiple npcs that are not at all fleshed out. The heart system is arbitrary for characters like Sandy and the Dwarf and the child system is both boring and pointless. It's much more fun to sacrifice babies than raise them tbh. However, you have to remember that you are meant to relax, and not play like you're a Jojo corporate slave. I was often stressed at the beginning because it felt like an in-game day is not long enough and the villagers were hard to find (whenever I looked for a specific one). After a short break I reminded myself that it was supposed to be played casually, and the game was really great and addictive after that.

I have knocked a couple of points because although I can barely fault it, it just quite simply isn't as good as 10/10 games such as Fire Emblem 3 Houses. For what it is though I think it is the best. I would play this over Animal Crossing any day.

I was farming and then I talked to this guy named Sebastian. He had a motorcycle and stuff. He seemed cool, so I started dating him. I didn't like that he smoked, and I told him during a cutscene, and he agreed that it was bad. We got married after a long time, and he said he'd stop smoking when I talked to him.

And he never stopped so I broke up with him and dated Sam. Screw that liar

Sometimes I'm picky when it comes to pixel graphics and the idea of farming combined with pixel graphics made me hesitate to play the game. It looked so tedious. As a lover of farming games, I got past that fairly quickly and the graphics aren't even a downfall.

I also have a problem with how much it overwhelms you, I did not like this game near the beginning, I was confused, and had no idea what to do. To fully enjoy the game I had to look up tips and how do do stuff.

All of that being said, the game looks fantastic, the detail to everything is fantastic, it is a great came to relax after a tough day, similar to a Animal Crossing.

Great game, I recommend buying, but also looking up most things

I only have one complaint and seems to be specific to the Switch version. There are occasional frame rate drops and inexplicable pauses that are actually really disruptive. While walking around the mines, sometimes the screen will just freeze but my character will keep walking, sometimes right into enemies and I wind up dying. It's also caused me to miss getting to sleep on time by a few seconds once or twice. Frustrating but not the end of the world.

Overall it's just an amazing casual game. I would skip the Switch version and get it on PC though. The PC version gets quicker updates and has mods, among other things.

The price of the game on the switch is more expensive than on pc but it is worth buying it! It is a calm and relaxing game that really helps to reduce my stress and makes me happy because of the dialogue and interaction with the villagers. The game starts off with you escaping life in the city and become a farmer in your grandpa village. Grandpa left a house and land for you to start your new journey. There are many quests to do in the game; harvesting, fishing, mining, helping others NPC. I love the idea that you get more heart when you often speak and give a gift to them. I also enjoy the marriage system, you can choose an NPC that you want to marry, each NPC has its own story. I choose Sam for my first game, he is really nice and charming. He makes breakfast and helps to do some work on the farm for you. The game did not restrict you to do things in orders, it gives you the freedom to explore the world and do things by yourself. The game has 4 seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter. Each season the seeds for planting are different same as the fish, some fish can be found only in that season which adds beauty to the game. There is a cave that allows you to explore and mine the mineral for your crafting, there are monsters as an obstacle and it gets stronger as you go deeper in the cave. There is also a desert town for you to go explore the skull cave and I think is it very hard to reach level hundred, I have to craft lots of bombs to help to find the stair or hole to go down. I spent many hours on the game without knowing it, it is good to play on my bad day. The minor things about Stardew Valley on the Nintendo Switch are the online cross-platform is not available yet, the updates are slower than the pc version and the mod cannot be install. Expand

If it weren’t for this, if, instead, you were assigned a certain number of ‘energy points’ that you could spend on the tasks of the day or something like that, this would’ve been a 10/10 from me. But the fact that I felt timed and rushed throughout made it a stressful experience rather than a fun one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Every day the walls seem to get a little closer. Did they move the desks in the office last night?

    ....

Your grandfather gave you a sealed envelope when you were young.

Old guy said don't open it until you need to.

    ...

    Today's the day.

Hey look, the old guy left you the farm. After he bought the farm. Sweet. Imma get some hoe time.

Stardew Valley is the happiest little bubble universe you've ever landed in. Live the dream as you get a house and a ridiculous amount of land for free. You're immortal - you don't need to eat. If you die, you may lose some items to scavengers and scallywags. It may even cost you a tiny percentage of your wealth. But you will awaken safe and sound to nothing more than a little note in your mailbox explaining what miracle of cooincidence the universe needed to provide for you to LIVE.

So, you don't need to eat and you can't die. And if you play long enough, you'll realize you don't age either.

So what can you do? Make the land awesome. Grow stuff. Chop stuff. Milk stuff. Sell stuff. Eat stuff. Hit stuff. Dig stuff. Gather stuff. Kill stuff. Well no, you do that elsewhere.

Meet all the cool people in town and learn their routines so you can show up before they do - when you choose one of the eligible marriage candidates and want to focus your efforts you will channel Bill Murray's Groundhog Day as you learn where they will be on which day... and be waiting for them. it's not creepy, it's romantic!

Manipulate them through gift giving to love you like a dearest friend and share their innermost secrets with you. They'll also give you free stuff.

Enslave animals to produce raw goods you can refine into more fattening ones to sell in your magic shipping box! Keep them locked in their quarters or allow them to roam free about the farm so that you can touch them as you pass. For you see, these animals respond to affection well.

I particularly enjoyed the fact the game allowed me to choose if I wanted my animals to freeze over the winter or not. Once they love you enough the cold doesn't do enough to really affect their production, so you can save money on heating.

Vegetable piracy is another great feature. You can purchase your seeds from the shop in town (ASSUMING IT ISN'T WEDNESDAY BECAUSE GOD FORBID HE'S EVER OPEN ON A WEDNESDAY) and grow them to term. Then you can use a machine to turn them into more seeds. Grow yer own!

You do really get to know the villagers over time as you play the game, and that's what endears this game to me. They've been updating content constantly since I've been playing it to add new encounters, seeds, wacky stuff and new places to explore. It's a solid game on all platforms and the only thing that keeps it from 10/10 is no interplatform coop. I hope one day they find a way.

One thing to note is you can port from PC to some of the mobile versions, and it's pretty cheap so we own it on a few different systems.

Buy the farm, be happy. Chill out.

Unless you are really keen on modding the game, the combination of easy portability and excellent controls makes this a staple in any well-rounded Switch library.
