I registered just to say please read articles about this game before purchasing it. It is currently unbeatable with no ETA from the developer of a fix. Releasing a game in this status is unacceptable. It should have been caught in QA and should be taken off the store until it is fixed.

To put it simply, this is the greatest story ever told in the Star Wars universe. Also it has the best written character in Star Wars history. While the gameplay might not hold up to modern standards, the dialogue, atmosphere, and storytelling are beyond anything we see nowadays. Do yourself a favor and play this on a device that has access to the Restored Content mod.

Every time I replay this game I learn something new, and I've played through the game at least 30 times now. Hands down my favorite game of all time

Game currently crashes about half way through. Developers knew and released anyway. Good reviews sadly must not have gotten far enough. Unplayable.

The best Star Wars game/story and it's disappointing that this is a poorly done port. Luckily the cut content will be added.

After finishing this bitter-sweet title, I knew I simply had to write a review on it, despite the fact that it's quite aged. Even though I was inspired by KOTOR 1, with its grand storytelling and very nicely timed sequences and fun characters, I found the sequel severely lacking in all the areas that should matter or need to matter.

The story starts off well enough with some interesting characters and plot threads, but what it does well in the beginning increasingly gives way to overly swift and illogical execution, shoehorned and copy-pasted companions, and a general lack explanation, development, and closure overall, especially with the final act. Characters are wasted (good characters mind you); some you never hear from again, and you are left with a feeling of sheer violation by the end that may cause you to question why you spent at least 40 hours of your life on essentially a 'nothingburger' of a game.

Now, to its credit, it does manage to achieve some modicum of charm in certain parts of the story. Some dialogue is good, great at times even, and there are some very nice additions to the gameplay like saber styles and a nice crafting system. Combat is still fun and you will get your traditional dose of KOTOR action as before. Swoop racing is also given a bump in difficulty, however, for some reason it doesn't feel as impactful as it did in KOTOR 1, like it's just marking a checkbox. For all these new do-das however, it cannot carry the burden of its core failures, which become most evident about half-way through the game.

I'd like to say a couple things about the companions as well, many of whom seem superfluous, especially in light of the fact that they aren't given any real closure or depth. Some however do hold significance to the Exile and can be interesting at times, although a majority of them didn't need to be companions at all, as Kreia so keenly points out in the game herself, comically enough.

In the end, this title reveals itself as half-baked and rushed in the narrative department, and ultimately leads to a bitter and hollow end, literally severing the plot points that made characters like Visas interesting. And I apologize if this is a spoiler, but I have to point attention to the fact that there was no confrontation between Visas and Kreia at the end, no real redemption arc or defining moment of truth which was hinted at prior in the story, and no end sequence where you get to converse with your companions about the outcome of events and the future. There is just... nothing. A backstabbing of *roll-credits* after the most rushed and fairly predictable ending. In a word, it is an atrocity.

It's such a poor enactment or lack of proper storytelling that I must pass my judgment on this game. I cannot wholly condemn it for its few qualities, but there is no way I can give this a favorable score either.

In light of all I've said I must give this a 4/10, as much as it pains me to do so, not because the gameplay is bad, but because the story is so crushingly disappointing.

That said, are you a huge fan of KOTOR 1? Are you wondering about playing the sequel? Is KOTOR II: The Sith Lords worth your time? Well.. I would say it is not an unforgivable sin if you played the sequel in light of all I said. But do not do so hoping to receive the same blessings conferred by its predecessor. This is an inferior product and will undoubtedly soil your view of KOTOR as a whole. If you cannot resist the lure of the dark side however, well then you must see the truth for yourself and feel the pain of its sting. Your destiny is in your own hands.

    That is all.

The game itself is great, always has been. The Switch port needs a lot of work. So let's start off with the game itself,
sadly it doesn't even come close to the first part.
It's massively let down by the Story, while the first game explains the story of Revan and Malak very well, the second game doesn't have the same depth of Storytelling as the first Part. Also the Characters aren't as beloved as the first game, they fell just like copy and paste. The Game isn't

Also the Characters aren't as beloved as the first game, they fell just like copy and paste.
The Game isn't all bad tho, if you liked the first game, you will like this one as well.
So until now this game is a solid 6,5/7 out of 10.

So let's get to it why I gave it a 4/10, the Switch Port ist a Buggy Mess (I have the newest version Installed), Aspyr clearly rushed the Port and it seems like they have no Intention of patching there Game.
I've even came across game braking bugs, every time I enter a cutscene on the planet Koriban the game just crashes, on Nar Shaada my character would just die in a cutscene and the last Autosave would be set right before the cutscene, also the game likes to crash at random, there were also minor bugs like characters suddenly ruining through walls, Dialog missing, with no Volume or just randomly skipping the whole Dialog.
I suggest that you play this game on PC, XBOX or even mobile but don't bother with the switch version.
Even though I had game breaking bugs, I've still manged to beat the game.
If you still want to play this game on the Switch be prepared to save a lot with different save files.

The promise of being able to play the restored content is the reason why I and many others bought the game on Switch in the first place. We have been patient and we have tried to be understanding that sometimes things don't go according to plan and sometimes things run late. More than anything, what bothers me the most is the complete lack of communication from Aspyr. Missing the deadline would be acceptable and understandable if the company would acknowledge the mistake. There is speculation that Aspyr is arranging a mass refund and are not allowed to discuss the details for legal reasons, but I would rather be able to play the DLC than get a refund. Expand

Aspyr, however, has released a buggy, frenetic mess of a port to the Switch, but the worst part of this release is their total silence on the status of the Restored Content Mod, which they advertised from the get-go as a part of the game. It's been almost a year since the game released, and the TSLRCM is still missing, and Aspyr has remained silent about its status.

TSLRCM was a deciding factor in making this purchase in the first place for me, and the majority of other buyers. Many - if not most - of the buyers likely already own the game on PC, Xbox, or Android, and to buy an incomplete version of the game for Switch would be absurd.

Aspyr's refusal to make any kind of statement on this amounts to a bald-faced grift. They owe everyone a refund AND an explanation, not either/or.

Despite 18 years passing between the original and this port, it feels like not much has changed at all — it remains a heavily flawed but interesting work. Unfortunately, I was hoping that it would right the wrongs of the original version, especially in terms of the additional content, but fails to do so. That’s a bit disappointing, but even with the game being re-released in the state it is, it remains more enjoyable and refreshing than most of Star Wars‘ more recent offerings.

Though the design feels a little dated these days, there’s no denying KOTOR II is among the gold standard for Star Wars in terms of story and immersion. Look past the clunky combat mechanics and you’ll be in for a treat.

Overall, it pains me to give KOTOR II the score I have, as the core gameplay mechanics are genuinely enjoyable and well-rounded, not to mention that I found the plot and characters to be quite strong whenever the game hit its strides. However, I still can’t overlook the very noticeable glitches present in the Switch port. It’s a shame that the initial base game is a rushed, poorly edited product as well since it has all the makings of a classic and problems knock it down to just a “good” game. Despite these setbacks, the KOTOR duology is still one of my favorite Star Wars stories. It is a testament to all of The Sith Lords‘ strengths that I’m glad for those patches and am looking forward to seeing how the Restored Content DLC might improve upon the overall game experience. However, as for how the base game now stands on the Switch? I’d be hard-pressed to recommend someone purchase it until that free story DLC is released. This echo seems more akin to a dying whimper than the steady, unyielding presence the game could very well be in the future.
