It's a super short (2-3 hours to complete the main game) slightly dull streets of rage/ Golden Axe clone that has a bit of funny humour and some cool co-op action to be enjoyed.

It could definitely have used a bit more enemy variety but the short length means what it does offer doesn't grow too stale before the credits role, the game has decent amounts of save points and that lets you

Cheap, short and cheerful, not going to change your life but will entertain for a few hours for the few euro it asks.

I bought this game last week for the Switch to be able to waste some time during my lunch breaks at work. I actually enjoyed the game (story mode). There is not a lot of content and it is a simple game which does not include a lot of abilities or mechanics. I liked the story and I was finding myself laughing and saying '' oh really? you gonna get it buddy''. I liked the story and I was finding myself laughing and saying '' oh really? you gonna get it buddy''. I really liked the feeling of grabbing an opponent and kicking him in the nuts (or whatever area he is kicking them). The enemies have different attacks (punching, hitting with a chain or a baseball bat, throwing a hammer or a baseball). There is one final big boss and the game can be completed in probably 2 hours. It was fairly easy in general, but I still died a few times (mostly due to not paying attention). I don't regret my purchase especially for the price! Expand

Squareboy vs Bullies: Arena Edition represents a genre that barely exists in the Nintendo Switch, which by itself is positive. That being said, the game doesn't fully deliver what it could on many levels and beyond perhaps a few minutes of fun, there's no reason to prefer this over the game that inspires it, or many others of the same style.

While the morals that the game tries to tell are good ones – since when is kicking almighty lumps out of bullies not a good thing – it would have been nice to see a bit more complexity added to the arsenal of attacks. It feels like a game that a mobile device would be able to handle with no trouble – and the Switch needs to be above that level in order to sway families away from mobile gaming and back to a trusty console.

When it comes to beat 'em ups, few games are as simple as Squareboy vs. Bullies: Arena Edition. The easily exploitable and basic gameplay combines with the overall lack of variety in a way that'll make you wish that the bullies win.
