Spooky Spirit Shooting Gallery is certainly a very fun game but that fun has a rather short lifespan so just like with an actual carnival game, you'll play it for a bit before moving on to more substantial sources of entertainment.

Spooky Spirit Shooting Gallery is a ridiculous title, but a phenomenal game. The game has several different modes, but essentially you're using a carnival cork gun to shoot various different Japanese goodies and spirits. The premise is you're at a Japanese festival that has a ton of these cork gun booths, and the in the Carnival mode you shoot at a ton of different Japanese snacks and toys trying to knock them over. Doing this gives you tokens, which are the game's currency that will let you either buy more ammo for your cork gun (including silver bullets and rockets), or spend them on extra mini games for different game modes, or finally trophies of the different goodies and spirits the game has.

The big question that should come with a game like this is "Does it have motion controls?", and I can happily say that it does, and they are fantastic! If you played the House of the Dead remake on Switch and were disappointed, this is the on-rails experience you've been waiting for; perhaps not in in story and atmosphere as SSSG has even less story and a much more child friendly aesthetic, but the gyro controls are perfect in this title and are so much fun to use. There does seem to be a handheld mode for the game as well, and I'm not sure whether this also uses motion controls, or if it just uses the joysticks, but it should be mentioned.

Overall this game is a blast to play! You can play this with up to three friends (only couch co-op I believe) and the game comes with two other modes apart from Carnival; Party Mode which has you competing with friends in the game's different mini games, and Spirit Stairway, which has you doing essentially the same thing, but working together this time to complete a set of challenges.

If you're on the fence I'll admit the content is a bit light for a $40 asking price, but honestly the controls and concept have me hooked, and I can easily see myself loading up the game the next time I have company over!
