    Space Invaders Forever is an excellent collection for fans of Space Invaders and one that will be a great introduction for newcomers to the various newer takes on the classic Space Invaders gameplay.

    If you’re looking for a centralized platform to play these games, the bulk of the titles offered here are fun enough to keep you engaged for quick bouts of alien-blasting action. Would I go out and grab this at full price? No, probably not. But having two solid offerings out of three at a sale price? It’s work a look. Just don’t get your hopes up for multiplayer.

    Space Invaders Forever is a collection that consists of three adaptations of Taito's timeless classic and if the presence of Space Invaders Extreme is by itself a major highlight, then a bigger effort should have gone into adapting these games to the format of the Nintendo Switch. Local multiplayer is a very fun experience, but an online component would have made everything much better.

    Space Invaders Forever is a three-game package, where one of them is downright excellent, one of them is an interesting and fun concept, but isn't the most comfortable to play with on Switch, and the last one is only a bit of fun in multiplayer. The first of the bunch itself could justify the purchase if the package was priced a bit more sensibly, but this should really have included more of the excellent updates to the Space Invaders formula that have been released over the years. Furthermore, people who have purchased the digital package at launch on the eShop had issues getting Arkanoid vs Space Invaders to install on their system. We're told this is not a problem anymore though.

    The Space Invaders Forever might keep me playing forever between grabbing everything in the Arkanoid game and trying to boost my scores in Extreme. But it’s impossible to ignore what’s been left out to try and get people to shell out for a physical game: you can’t really call it “Forever” when the oldest game of the bunch debuted after I graduated from university. Keep an eye out for updates, but as for what’s available in December 2020? Wait.

    First thing I will say is if you have enjoyed Space Invaders for a long time like myself you will enjoy this. Well, that all depends. If you're like my dad, who played Space Invaders in between lanes at Burr Oak Bowl in the early 80s, this game is definitely worth it. For those of you who are looking for a classic arcade experience? You may want to wait for either a price drop, or (hopefully) some DLC added. The games are fun and enjoyable, and they do work well on the Switch (espcially the Arkanoid one), and I do recommend it for diehard fans of the series. For the rest of you, I suggest trying out the original elsewhere before grabbing this collection.… Expand
