Silt is a beautiful looking game, but the sluggish movement and lack of checkpointing make it hard to recommend.

Silt is fun to play and features a very attractive monochrome art direction, as well as a deliciously dark atmosphere. Everything would be perfect if Journey, Limbo, Inside, Abzû or Little Nightmares hadn't already been there. The title of Spiral Circus was certainly made with passion, but it does not manage to stand out enough from its models.

The strength of Silt is in the atmosphere it creates. The art and the sound provide a horror-like vibe to this adventure puzzle game. And both of those aspects will pull you into the weird and mysterious world that Silt creates. The game doesn’t hold your hand in any of the puzzles. And while most times this isn’t an issue, as the puzzles are reasonably short and contained, it’s the lengthier ones where this can cause some frustration. Overall, Silt provides a unique experience, just not a perfect one.

It's flaws make it so it doesn't stand on the same ground as the games it takes inspiration from, but the oppressive setting and the possession mechanic make Silt a great option for those who love this kind of surrealist games.

A solid debut: an all-round superior puzzle adventure with a beautiful design and subtle horror that is neither original nor challenging in terms of play.

Extremely basic gameplay with repetitive and uninspiring "puzzles", boring enemies, and abilities. Lackluster level design and tons of unnecessary loading screens.

This game tries to be like other successful titles in this "creepy puzzle platformers", and fails miserably in pretty every aspect, except may art, and even that sometimes clashes with overall aesthetic of the game.

There is very little to explore, solve, or discover.

The visual comparison to games like Limbo will soon be forgotten I’m sure. Silt is an indie game with its own nightmarish rules and a subtle logic. There is challenge to be had in its puzzles, so if mind-bending nightmares are your thing, and if you like the thought of possessing and sucking up the souls of giant creatures then hopefully you also think it deserves the award below.
