Shinrai Broken Beyond Despair is your typical Japanese visual novel game set on Halloween night. A group of 10 school friends gather in a mountain hotel to celebrate Halloween until one of the dies and its up to you to find out who did it.

The game is approx 8 or so hours long with over 150,000 words, its a long visual novel game but does add the element of pick and choose which breaks things up over time.

The game has great visual art and a nice background soundtrack but does tend to have some annoying sounds throughout the game like the damn insects (crickets) when you are outdoors. If you are into soft Hentai then this also may appeal to yourself as it does have a very small level of it without the nudity tho. Thank god as the characters in this game are only 14-15 years old!! I kinda found it a little disturbing at times but looked past it and found I really enjoyed the theme of this visual novel.

If your into Visual novel games then I would highly recommend this one!

SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair has an interesting enough narrative. But poor quality visuals and lack of variety make for a hard story to become fully invested in. There seems to be too much text and waffle, and I get the feeling that quantity was preferred over quality in the story. On the whole, the game feels rushed and unpolished.
