May 9, 2019The vibrant GTA-style game with some strategy elements. Absolutely love it!
-
May 10, 2019A captivating, smart, and fun game with plenty of hours of entertainment value. Everyone that plays this game will enjoy the many pop culture references weaved cleverly in the game. Vblank hit it out of the park with this one! I give this game my highest recommendation. This game won't disappoint you!

Sep 15, 2022Fun alternative for people that are looking for an experience of trashing a city just like a GTA game. The game has one of my favorite gags and parodies while also being in an original setting and premise. The game is very colorful and bright making it pleasing to watch but also controls just right making it one of the best-underrated games that are similar to GTA.

Apr 15, 2020A nice game but a little too much basic. Too easy as well. A little repetitive and the story is way too short.
You will have fun with this game but is feels like it could have been so much better.
The gameplay is actually very good and fun. -
May 1, 2021One of the best indie games I've ever played. Retro City Rampage was my childhood game so of course I needed to try out Shakedown Hawaii! So much vibes from Vice City and 90s Miami. I love the "economic sim" in this game, it's really addictive! Overall it's a great game!

Aug 11, 2021I was actually surprised I like this game because I thought it was a bit overrated, it is not.I had a great time playing this game, Although I thought that the story was a bit lacking.

Jul 18, 2021I was a little disappointed with this game, it's not bad but it looks a little underdeveloped. I thought it was like a 90's GTA, but it's not. Moving around in a car and the protagonist swimming kinda turned me off from this game. An interesting proposition but it could have been better.

Nintendo Force MagazineFeb 27, 2020Overall, there's enough charm here in Shakedown: Hawaii to wring out a number of hours of enjoyment. [Issue #40 – July/August 2019, p. 28]
-
Jul 8, 2019A worthy successor to the Retro City Rampage, this is a 16-bit pack full of action and explosions that destroy even the fourth wall and jump right into your heart. If you loved GTA and the 16-bit era, you will love this game.

Jun 28, 2019Shakedown: Hawaii brings forth a fun, well-humoured and visually satisfying 16-bit inspired world to a game that despite its good intentions, does not fully tick all the necessary boxes to achieve its entire potential. Mostly because the game feels like it ends too quickly, even though there is still plenty to do but the overall feeling of repetitiveness and a certain lack of challenge make it less compelling and involving than it could be. All that said, this is still a good effort that will keep players enjoyed.
