A bit of an interesting paradox, then; it's difficult to recommend Shadow Man Remastered to those who haven't played the game before, while — at the same time — if they do wish to check it out, this is absolutely the only way we'd recommend doing so. It's a sterling port, rich with new and restored content, improved visuals, copious customisation and almost-flawless performance; it runs at 60fps locked with only the very occasional hitch. Shadow Man has never been a masterpiece, but it is a clear labour of love with plenty to offer those willing to endure its more aged mechanics and structural curiosities. We can only hope that plenty will have the patience to do so.

So this is without doubt the definitive version of a game that – although it won’t be embraced by many – offers a uniquely structured survival horror adventure that you just don’t see much of nowadays. But there’s probably a reason for that.

Shadow Man is not a great game in 2021, but in 1999, it was ambitious and inventive, and being able to experience this game as it was meant to be released and played is valuable and enjoyable.

I would say Shadow Man is a forgotten masterpiece, but obviously there is still some love for the game given this remaster and effort. ThisI would say Shadow Man is a forgotten masterpiece, but obviously there is still some love for the game given this remaster and effort. This game is the spiritual brother of Soul Reaver, and carries a lot of the feel and spirit of that game and that period of game development. Shadow Man is kind of like a massive 3D metroidvania. The map is pretty huge for a game from that period, and the main challenge is in navigating, visiting and revisiting the areas. Extremely captivating game that will possibly be lost on a younger generation of gamers. They dont make them like this anymore. 10/10 Full Review »

Есть шероховатости в игре, я думаю с патчем все поправят ( в целом играется все без проблем )

I want to express my deep gratitude to Nightdive Studios for the work done, guys, thank you very much that with each new port you overcome more and more quality bar! There are roughnesses in the game, I think everything will be fixed with the patch (in general, everything is played without problems)

To me this game seems like a 3D 'Metroidvania' done right, well before the term gained wider acknowledgement. What i mean by a 3D Metroidvania done right is the complete lack of hand holding, the backtracking to gain new more powerful abilities to access new areas as well as defeating stronger enemies with them too.

Now here comes the problem with all remastered games from the 5th generation (PS1, N64, Saturn) like Doom, Quake, Turok, Shadow Man, Duke Nukem etc... it is very hard for younger gamers to fully enjoy these classics as they will automatically seem dated and lackluster. Gamers of my generation will enjoy these remasters such as Shadow Man much more as they do have a very strong nostalgic feeling (much like what games now will be in 20 years), but also they are simply great games.

I do highly recommend this game to those who enjoy retro classics, fans of games with no hand holding, those looking for a cool story. If you know someone who has Shadow Man Remastered give it a try and if you enjoy it get yourself a copy.
