This is just about the perfect arcade rally racer for a handheld. There is no multiplayer and the music is abysmal but the graphics and performance are about as good as it gets on Switch. There is a ton to do in this game, the load times are very fast and you can also customize every button. The handling is a little soft but the wide track lanes make up for it... The boost mechanic works really well for strategic overtaking and the opponent AI is good. Love this game as it is but it could really benefit from an update adding multiplayer, better music, and maybe replays. Expand

This is a good Arcade Racer, Good speed, mastering sliding is really a cool sensation, and nice graphics on the Switch.

Great sense of speed, responsive controls, looking great and running smooth. Old-school arcade racing fun. No multiplayer though

This game looks good enough on the Switch when it is in action but that is literally the only good thing I can say about it. It feels like a cheap mobile game, the handling is very poor, the game doesn't even have any rumble features, and the racing is simplistic at best. You have lazy course layouts that feel poorly designed and the game overall just feels boring to play. You have lazy course layouts that feel poorly designed and the game overall just feels boring to play. You have this oddly disconnected feel the entire time you are trying to race, keep in mind how there is absolutely no feedback in this game and the cars handle kinda oddly. Overall I have to give this game a negative score for feeling half-baked and unfinished. Expand

There is some excellent arcade racing to be done, shame more wasn't made of racing on all surfaces (like the water, a great mechanic).
Desperately needs multiplayer and a few other racing options to make it great, but a really bold and solid foundation. Reflected in the price, it's half of a great game, looking fwd to whether or not the rest will be delivered

Honestly, Rise: Race the Future does nothing innovative, but it just manages to bring a good combination of elements that satisfy fans of single player experience. The graphics are above average, quite beautiful for the Switch, and that really impresses. The turbo gathering options are also innovative and I confess that I have never seen anything like it before - I loved being able to have options. The biggest problem is due to the extremely repetitive and generic music, but of course a multiplayer mode would come in very handy in the future. As the game was upgraded to 60 fps after several months of release, I have high hopes that it will also get at least a splitscreen to challenge friends and family on the same console. However, Rise: Race the Future is highly recommended for those who likes just to sit down and play, as well as having fun with the right challenges. Expand

Well, this is how one of the greatest handheld dev teams in all of gaming came to an end. They pushed the limits of every generation of nintendo handheld, then sadly the technical-brains behind the operation passed away towards the beginning of this games' development. I'm not really sure what the game is trying to do, it feels like slow pace burnout but then your car just spins around like gran turismo with no assists on. It's just ok, pretty boring, but better than most racing games these days. You can progress in Co-op, so that's a plus.

I'm not a huge racing fan but I like to have a couple a them on tap for when I'm im the mood for it. So I'm not really looking for the most realistic or challenging racing game out there. And Rise: Race the Future hita the spot. It took a race or 2 to get used to the physics but once I did, I had no troubles with the controls. You can dial in stability and steering sensitivity so that's nice. And hey, it turns into a airboat on the water and that's awesome.
Overall, it's a fun arcade racer.

Super solid racer on the switch. Looks good, performance is rock solid and your cars can transform into boats on the fly which is great. Controls for driving on the street and water are also very compelling. Cool Ridge-Racer-like car design. Championships and the soundtrack are super-generic and the game in general kinda lacks an identity or something that makes it stand out. NonethelessSuper solid racer on the switch. Even if you were to look at this title without comparing it to other arcade racers, Rise: Race the Future would simply be fine. The track designs are good, and the Challenge mode offers up something in lieu of multiplayer. However, with a limited selection of tracks and cars when compared to other games, Rise feels rather limited in terms of what the player can do before boredom sets in. Ultimately, the game does well as a quick snack, but it's doesn't need to be a permanent part of one's racing library.

As the checkered flag comes down on RISE: Race the Future, it has finished strong. The graphics, the driving mechanics, the tracks, the vehicles, and the play-time are all very good. The game is fun to play and challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. Even if you normally don’t get into racing games, RISE is definitely worth having in your Switch collection. Unfortunately, the lack of multiplayer is a significant omission that we can’t ignore.

Rise: Race the Future is a visually impressive arcade experience whose futuristic setting makes for plenty of fast-paced action with some interesting twists too. A lack of multiplayer and niggling control issues aside, Rise: Race the Future still makes for a thrilling change of pace especially if you’re starting to feel a little burned out on kart racers.
