I loved turn based tactics titles but this is one you should definitely give a miss. The battles are so slow and lethargic, it feels like you're stuck in mud. This wouldnt be a problem if the animations were so poor, its look like they are missing several frames. The cutscene stills arent so bad but the characters you play with make no sense and are badly written. This really takes you out of the game. The engine also runs poorly with several bugs. Give this a try if you must but rather get it at a bargain bin discount. Expand

Reverie Knights Tactics is a fun tactical RPG with an interesting storyline and many mechanics to play around with. While the controls might take some getting used to, the overall gameplay is solid.

With just enough tweaks to stand out as its own distinct entity, RKT hits all the notes you want from this type of game without falling into the pitfalls so many world changing, convoluted stories do.

Reverie Knights Tactics is a good tactical RPG experience, but one that falls short of a top-shelf one overall. The attempts to bring more story into the genre are admirable, but not as memorable as games like Disgaea that have done it with more gusto. There’s a lot of depth within the core gameplay, though, and having decisions impact character interactions make that content more engaging overall. It looks fantastic and sounds good, but none of the soundtrack sticks with the player after a session. Still, for someone craving something new in the genre, there’s a lot to enjoy in an imperfect package.
