if you are looking for a single player experience, this game isnt for you. go play PAD X instead of this or Z if you want a PAD rpg like Pokemon.

the story mode is extremely short (i completed the 3 paths in just about an hour) but is crucial to unlock leaders.

Single player can be beat in an hour, and the story focuses on characters I don't know but the game clearly expects you to recognize. Was this an anime tie in, or perhaps a sequel to a game that never made it to English?

Either way, this is intended to be a faster paced online competitive game. This means this is not a good game to travel with, since you'll need constant internet access.

Bad singleplayer experience, no adventure mode, no dungeons, only few tournaments :-(. It's a completely different game than it was on 3DS. Overpowered teams from beginning, no need to grind, lack of good tutorial for beginners. Unfortunately, a big disappointment.

Shortest single player game I’ve played. Take a long time for matching in multiplayer. No need grinding be like a god from first flight. Totally disappointment.

Really poor story mode, the battle system is horrible, you can't evolve your monsters, you can't boost your skills levels, you can't do anything like the mobile/3ds games it's essentially a pvp puzzle game with extremely limited content. One and only one quality : 3d models are perfect.

PXD on mobile and 3DS are so much better; and yes it's playable in handeld mode only, but that's logic

This game is probably the worst thing I have downloaded on my switch. After playing Z on 3DS I was excited to see a new game for switch Z had a grate story and had monster collecting training and evolution. This game has none of this. For the story you get a SET party that can not be changed they have a gatcha like the mobile game to get new dragons that you really can't use except for practice because none is playing this online. The dragons you do get are already at max no training but you can awaken them by battling with them but remember how no on is playing online. Now let's talk story... there is none.. not really anyways. You have 2 technically 3 story's, in each story except the last one you fight all of 4 times and then it's over. It's like they didn't even try for this one. If I could get a refund I would because I regret ever buying this and I won't be buying anymore from gungho unless they address the problems with this game and promise not to repeat it. Expand

While I enjoy a good matching title, Puzzle & Dragons GOLD makes too many missteps, and I can’t recommend this version over the more robust, more entertaining mobile iteration.

There are just 20 team leaders in the game; the 500 subs available from the gacha can only bring so much variety, and pale in comparison to the almost 6,000 available in Puzzle & Dragons itself. We've been playing that game for seven years, and it still finds new ways to excite us. That this barren, boring work should share its name is an outrage. [Issue#343, p.122]

Maybe if the game had collaboration monsters or some sort of monster leveling system I could care just a little more.
