Oct 16, 2022I'm really bummed this is flying so hard under the radar, this game is stellar; a steal when it's on sale but truly worth the full price. Full of character, things to discover, bonuses, secrets, charm, just all-round nostalgic video game fun. Please give it a try!

Jul 19, 2023Wünsche mir das andere Federn lassen. Obacht geben, später wird alles imaginär. Jetzt reiße ich sie einzeln raus. Meine Botschaft: Project Starship X fliegt unter dem Radar.

Mar 10, 2021Project Starship X is something unique in a genre that, for better and worse, tends to stick to the tried and true. Its roguelike elements add a fun, fresh twist on the shoot-’em-up formula, adding an unpredictable twist and a sense of chaos that goes hand in hand with its over-the-top presentation. The random aspect can sometimes be cause for frustration, but for the most part, it makes for a game that continually throws up new challenges and expects you to be ready for anything.

Feb 5, 2021Despite its unconventional structure, Starship Project X is an undeniably creative endeavour. It’s clear that the developer has enjoyed making it, and it manages, against all odds, to do something new and interesting with the often tired shoot-em-up premise. Once you learn its catalogue of obstacles and sync with its immediacy, it gets a lot more manageable and enjoyable, and trying to finish stages unscathed is a fun pursuit. Unfortunately, no matter how skilled you become, the experience is occasionally marred by unexpected attack overlaps and ensuing ship positioning struggles. While the balance isn’t perfect, and its longevity in terms of holding your attention is questionable, it deserves applause for its originality and its short, fun, adrenaline-fuelled nature: the kind arcade gaming was designed for.
