Despite having a year extra to work on its own addition to the genre, Visual Imagination Software’s agricultural offering fails to outdo Farming Simulator at its own game. There are things to like about Professional Farmer: Nintendo Switch Edition – including the more realistic harvest cycles and the deformation of soil when tilling and ploughing a field – but even the presence of a faithful digital pooch isn’t enough to keep this semi-handheld offering from being towed back to the garage from whence it came.

Professional Farmer: Nintendo Switch Edition is a painfully realistic farming sim, with a lot on offer for hardcore micro-managers. Exceptionally flawed technically, this is as bland and repetitive as a game can get, and it isn’t recommended.

You can play and manage quite a lot of the farming jobs available. It’s just when you need to clean up with certain field duties that problems seem to arise. The big issue for me is that the bailing tasks just don’t work properly. You can’t pick up bails after you buy the bailer machine. Get your farmhand to do it then? Nope. Farmhands do nothing and this just leaves you with an issue and a dilemma. The great big overshadowing issue is that this game is released without any help or patches from the developers to address its issues. Overall, this is a manageable game but just don’t expect to do everything you want it to do. Expand
