Oct 15, 2020I'm left wondering just who would want to play Postal Redux. The game works, sure, but there are a lot of top-down isometric shooters that work. I understand the appeal in playing both transgressive and offensive games, but Postal isn't actually transgressive, since it has so little to say and while it clearly caused offence in the '90s, there are games that are much more capable of causing offence now if that's what you're looking for. Play Hotline Miami. Hotline Miami upset plenty of people. Postal, meanwhile... Postal in 2020 comes across as bland, and for a game (and series) that relies entirely on upsetting people, even when the gameplay is competent, for it to be "bland" is to make its very existence pointless.

Oct 16, 2020POSTAL Redux didn't need to come to Nintendo Switch. But I guess part of what makes a game like this, that puts you in the role of a character hopefully none of us would emulate, is that it doesn't need to do anything. It just needs to let you shoot little guns at things and make the blood go everywhere. If that's what you're into, POSTAL Redux will let you do that from anywhere. But if you prefer a game with any amount of meaningful substance, keep looking elsewhere.

Nov 21, 2020Postal Redux can be seen as a sort of a time capsule that brings us back to the second half of the 1990s, when unlimited on-screen violence could make a name for a new game. While this version includes several improvements, it still feels like it's stuck in its original time. The new Rampage mode is certainly worthy of note but everything else here is visibly outdated and should be seen with nostalgia in mind, rather than as an effort to stand out in today's world.
