After I was very skeptical about the game at the beginning, after watching various Twitch streams I got the mood for the game and I haven't regretted it. I finished the whole thing after 28 hours and 04 minutes with 100 Pokémon caught.

    Story:

You don't have to say much about a Pokemon game, it is typical and in the special case of Lets Go Pikachu everything is already known, as it is a Pokemon Yellow remake. But I have to honestly say, I thought it was great because it creates a lot of nostalgic moments, be it puzzles that you can remember or arena fights, etc. Wonderful.

    Graphics / performance:

This is where the game takes the biggest step. The graphics are very pretty and go great with Pokemon. The rendering is very good for the remake. I don't really have anything to criticize here, except that there can sometimes be minimal FPS fluctuations, which I could live with.

    Gameplay:

Also here some changes to Pokemon Yellow and all other Pokemon games before. What is meant, of course, is the lack of random battles in the grass, etc. At first I was skeptical, but I have to share the opinion of most of the people that it fitted in very well and also felt very good to see the Pokemon on the screen that you want to attack in the grass or in the case of Lets GO wants to catch. I found the level system with the new capture system similar to the Pokemon GO mobile app very pleasant. I didn’t miss to weaken individual Pokemon in battle first in order to be able to catch them then. Especially because there are MASSIVE lots of Pokemon Trainer battles.

I never had experience problems, the EP divider, which now applies to the entire team, was of course very helpful again. In terms of difficulty, the game was incredibly easy at the beginning, because Pikachu and Eevee are also simply OP, but then became more difficult over time. Overall, the top 4 was no longer a problem with my team from Pikachu, Vulnona, Entoron, Turtok, Bisaflor, Charizard (LvL 60-66).

The controls always ran smoothly, only when throwing the Pokeballs to the right with the JoyCon I sometimes had a bit of problems.

The only thing I didn't really use was the candy system, there are just so damn many that you quickly feel overwhelmed.

    Content:

Even after the top 4, there is still a lot to do, which I will take a moment to do. E.g. visit some people (boarding house, etc.), complete Pokedex or defeat the master trainers for each Pokemon. You can also rematch the top 4 and the arena manager from Vertania City.

    Conclusion:

I have to say I'm looking forward to the upcoming Pokemon Game 2019. I would love to catch and level a mix of the current Pokemon Go-like and see the old random fights. I'm also looking forward to the next generation and of course the hopefully existing possibility of catching all previously available Pokemon in a new graphic splendor.

There is nothing else to say about Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu itself than that I had a lot of fun and was really pleasantly surprised. For me 9/10 special sweets.

This is an awesome game! It really fits with the new gen console, it is nostalgic and clear to play, even if you are an older player or not. It is also a pretty cute intro for 8th gen games

Very casual games, but with pokemon, that's not a problem for me at all. The graphics are kinda nice, the music is outstanding and they absolutely nailed ride and following pokemon (and then forgot how to do it in SwSh and BDSP), wich shouldn't mean so much to me, but it does. It also really nicely remixes the original encounter tables and introduces overworld pokemon to the series!

Let's Go Pikachu! is a nice experience (for me at least). I don't mind the Pokémon Go style of encountering wild Pokémon. I will admit I am not good at normal Pokémon. In Pokémon Moon I didn't even make It to the second gym. I prefer easier games and this game is... easy. I also prefer the smaller roster. For someone's first Pokémon game it should introduce Pokémon to them well. Worth the buy for beginners. Maybe not for veterans. 9/10 Expand

I found this game really enjoyable to play when your playing through the story but when you finish the story your not left with much to do other than catch every Pokemon and battle online (which costs money) but other than that good game!

Expand

Being someone who cherished very much the very first Pokemon games, mostly Yellow, to be able to revive and relive all those feelings, nostalgia and with "modern" graphics was a dream come true... I bought my Switch to play this game... only down notes was the simplification of random pokemon battles, you just catch them instead... and the pay wall for Mew...

Hours and Hours of fun. I completed the game in a day or two, plus shiny hunting. This game is unlike any other pokemon game, as the graphics, visuals, and game style is just purely an amazing experience. The story is also similar to the other games in a way, but there's just something to it that makes it feel special. 10/10.

Bright, fun and very good looking. A very good game for new fans of the Pokemon franchise and full of nostalgia for fans of the older games. Gotta subtract a point for not including all the content from Fire Red and Leaf Green, and could easily be considered too easy for very experienced gamers, but I think most people would be perfectly happy with this game.

I love how this game plays like the original Pokemon Yellow where you can make pokemon follow you and with all the same gyms and team rocket this game does give some retro wives. All and all the difficulty is bit on the easy side but bumps up in later battles. I love that by the time we start our journey red and blue are grown up successful trainers and you can battle them as well. This game is truly the best pokemon remake and I love it Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

A simple, nostalgic return to the Kanto region, offers little if you are a series veteran eager for complexity and challenge. But if that's not your main interest, Pokemon Let's Go has it all! It's a simple, cute and fun game that will keep you hooked for hours. An excellent starting point for newcomers, and a great nostalgia trip for those in a search for one.

It’s hard to make sense of the game that’s basically a Switch port of iOS/Android remake of Pokemon Red/Green. Is it a step forward, step backward – or maybe just a shameless cash-in? Turns out, it’s a great remake – the world looks exactly as we imagined it back when we were staring at black and white pixels of original Red/Green. [Issue#235, p.44]
