Absolutely overpriced and sold in several parts. It's also lacking numerous features from previous games, the PokeBall Plus being the only way to get Mew is just a giant cash grab.

In short, play FireRed/LeafGreen instead, they have 200+ more Pokemon to collect, more content, and can actually interact with other Pokemon games to get even more content and gameplay.

Un gioco gradevole ma che taglia tanti contenuti rispetto al precedente remake rosso fuoco, sistema di combattimento con selvatici da rivedere totalmente. La semplificazione delle lotte rimuovendo le abilità è un peccato.

worst pokemon game ever. i see that they tried to integrate pokemon go and console games. but you have to spent hundreds of pokeballs to catch YOUR OWN pokemon that you transferred from pokemon go. also, no post game content available. i thought that "yes, i beat elite four now i can sail to sevii islands" but guess what? there are no islands! this is literally the worst pokemon game ever.

I’ll be honest, this is probably the least fun I’ve ever had playing a Pokémon game. It’s down there with the Ultra games. To start with the positives I had about this game, the visuals are admittedly nice, especially compared to the game we got a year later. It also adds to the “cuteness factor” this game has with Pikachu & Eevee. Am I sick of seeing them plastered on every piece of marketing involving Pokémon? Yes. They’re still adorable in game though. I also like how they brought back Pokémon following you & how shiny Pokémon actually appear shiny in the over world, why they didn’t bring that shiny feature back in SwSh (aside from the DLC you’d have to pay $30 for just to have Pokémon follow you, wild Pokémon still won’t appear shiny tho lol stupid af) is yet another bafflingly stupid design choice that they can add to their shamefully long list of stupid design choices. That’s where the positives end & I have to get angry with TPC yet again. Why.. WHY are you remaking Kanto AGAIN?! Who is asking for this trash?! Kanto is the most boring & generic region out of all the Pokémon games I literally cannot name a si how memorable location that wasn’t done better in another Gen. Even most of the Pokémon in this Gen are either ugly or dumb, aside from a handful of good ones. How this boring ass generation continually gets preferential treatment over half a dozen other BETTER gens is beyond me. Nostalgia sells & GameFreak is gonna milk it until I’m dead clearly. They’ve been out of ideas for a while now but this game really put the nail in their creative coffin imo. These games just shouldn’t exist. The extra time and resources that went to these games should have gone towards Sword & Shield, maybe they wouldn’t have turned out the way they did if things went that way. At this point I’m so sick and tired of seeing the same 151 Pokémon and same tired ass region that I will never touch this game again, or any like it. Stop the Gen 1 pandering & start taking some goddamn risks again for the love of Arceus. This ain’t it. Save yourself the time and money & go play FireRed or LeafGreen instead. Or move onto better franchises. Expand

i'm SERIOUSLY disappointed in the game, it was never the feeling that i had, ready to play a paid pokemon game for the first time, only to find that it was not really with the other games, it's definitely overpriced with a lot of randomness and overly limited mechanics compared to the other games, even seeing the trailer for pokemon sword & shield looked better than this crap that i played.

Oh yeah, abilities are also gone, which makes the competitive extremely weak. The new rival is probably one of the worst in the series, being a generic friendly rival that has no conflicts to make him interesting or endearing. The gameplay is so easy that it makes X & Y look like Dark Souls. Also, your starter, while the partner Pikachu and Eevee were pretty interesting concepts, and the idea of them having unique movesets of different elemental attacks is pretty good...on paper. Instead of just one at a time, they straight up made it so you can have your entire moveset just OP moves. Before you say "oh but Pikachu and Eevee are weak" well not in this game, especially with the game's mechanics. The partner variants have higher stats, so giving them one at a time would've been enough. I get that this game is catering to Pokémon Go players, but even with that excuse, it's poorly executed. And to top it all off, this game has nothing new. You can criticize X & Y all you want, but at least there it had something new and interesting to it. What does this game have going for? Melmetal. That's it! There's no reason for it's existence except a cheap cash grab that makes me feel disgusted. It gets worse every time I see it, and I hope to god they don't make another game like it. The main rival is easily the worst character in the entire Pokemon series. Whereas Blue was cocky and made you want to be better than him, the main rival in this game is the most bland and uninteresting character. Some positives would be the music, graphics, and the fact that Pokemon actually follow the player.

For a full price game, Pokemon Let's Go offers a very little amount of content, which itself is low quality. There are far better experiences gamers can have paying for a full price game on the Switch, such as the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series.

Obviously it's intended for children and casual Pokemon Go fans who don't know what they're doing, but this game could not be easier. It's like Game Freak thinks we're 2 years old. The starter Pokemon are overpowered and beat everything in the game without trying and get broken moves super early on, they don't let you enter gyms without certain types/levels, you can't battle wild Pokemon, and the enemy AI is trash. Enemy Pokemon will intentionally use non-damaging moves to let you win. Like, constantly. On top of that most other trainers have 1 Pokemon, 2 at best. And if you play co-op mode you get an extreme unfair advantage. How is this acceptable? If you have a full party I genuinely don't think you could lose a battle if you tried. What happened to trial and error? The game holds your hand the ENTIRE game. You can design a game for children without making it such a cakewalk! I mean, look at generations 4 and 5. Those games were definitely children's games, but the difficulty was still ramped up enough that you lost battles occasionally, and you had to battle wild Pokemon to gain levels. I was like 9 years old when I played generation 4 and I struggled, but I still beat the game! Children are not idiots. And if you insist on designing a game for idiots, why not implement a hard mode? Why not AT LEAST give the player the freedom to enter a gym, get obliterated, learn a lesson, and come back once they understand how types work? The game has completely streamlined any difficulty whatsoever. You don't learn or figure out anything on your own- the game does it all for you and gives you all the answers. Not only does it give you the answers but it FORCES you to play the game a specific way.

There are obviously a few good things about the game. Pokemon following you, being able to access the box anywhere you want, no more wild encounters- all good things. However the game sugarcoats these improvements in the easiest Pokemon game literally ever. I honestly can't believe that the Pokemon Company thinks this is acceptable. Pokemon is a huge franchise and it deserves better. This was the most disappointing Pokemon game by far, especially after generations 6 & 7, the easiest generations of all time. Pokemon can be a game for kids but it's also a game for adults- they can't keep giving us bad games, with bad plots, that have literally no difficulty at all and FORCE you to use Pokemon that make the game easier. The game sucks and it's a depressing representation of modern Pokemon. The games could be so much more, but it feels like GF and TPC don't even care about pleasing fans. I'm sick of it. 1/10.

You dont fight wild poke'mon, you only catch them, with no weakening, using the same system from poke'mon go, just with less skill needed.

Catching tons of duplicate useless poke'mon gives exp to your team, the only thing really resembling training is you let oak grind your extra unwanted poke'mon into candy, and you use that to buff your team.

It's a shallow form on what poke'mon red/blue/yellow was, and its just kinda meh.

I hope my kids like it, because its boring the hell out of me, and i have been playing poke'mon since i was 8 when blue and red came out.

On top of the gameplay issues, there are also technical issues, from the moment the game starts right away you notice the game drops frames, like really bad, movement is not very smooth and the lag gets annoying quickly.

The game overall just feels sloppy and lazy, i hope this trend does not roll over to the new poke'mon games recently announced, because if it does, they will likely kill the series.

I played the thing for like a 2 weeks, put it down cause i got bored and never picked it up again. I can't decide whether to throw it away or burn it because i don't want anyone playing it if i can help it. I work at walmart and the dang thing sits untouched in the glass case i swear let's go pikachu hasn't been touched in 9 months. Let's go eevee was only worth it because of the frickin eevee. I had to start making my own rules for the game just so i wouldn't get bored. I am so glad that sword and shield came out and have battles in them as far as i can tell because we can hopefully forget about this crap piece of game and let it die in the dust. Great for kids yeah but extremely infurating to me. I don't even play competitive. If it had battles i would have no complaints but no frickin no it left me feeling hollow and like all the pokemon i caught weren't even worth it. Another thing is the fricking forced catching the game makes you do, i literally caught a bellsprout and released it after i made it into brock's gym just because screw that piece of crap. The rule's are great as an idea but horrid in exicution and i dare you to tell me it was "fun" because i will debate you till morning come and tell you it wasn't. This game is bad. Now who is it good for? Families. There are good ideas in it and such but it is just a family game. The company may say it's a core game but i will never count it as such nor do i even want to remember it's existance. I got it as a christmas present because i didn't wanna play it and guess what? I was right. about it all. unequivically right. Now if you're a parent that wants to bond with your child sure go play it but the co-op is terrible and it's completely simplified and base-line. They ripped out every bit of challenge from it and i basically beat the game with my eevee while the other pokemon road on its coat-tails, which i got rid of when i went to face the champion because i never needed them. I hope sword and shield are good because literally nothing else could have been worse than this, even games that are literally made to be a joke are better than this joke of a game. This game has got a lot of negative reviews from Pokemon fans for decisions like getting rid of random encounters. Probably the only good thing about this game is the lack of random encounters, which are an incredibly tedious and annoying gameplay mechanic.

This game would have been bad and outdated a decade ago. Now, it's just awful. The art style is uninspiring and bland. The music is repetitive and aged. And the gameplay feels 20 years out of date. The core of the game is an incredibly dull and repetitive lull. The story is generic and bland, so all that leaves you with is the two main gameplay mechanics.

You aim pokeballs. You battle pokemon. That's literally the entire game. After 5 minutes you've already experienced 90% of what the game has to offer. Every fight feels the same, every catch feels the same. The game is just incredibly boring.

The game feels like a bad handheld from over 10 years ago ported to a modern device. The map is unimaginative and linear, the freedom of movement is virtually nonexistent. And the game is scattered with mind-bogglingly bad QoL decisions. The tree chopping ability is a tedious slog to get through, for example, when there is literally no reason for it not to be done automatically and quickly. Accessing what you want requires far too many clicks: three buttons to look at a map, which is completely useless anyway, which in any other game you could pop up whenever you want. And as a whole the game is incredibly slow: there is a painfully tedious amount of downtime in combat.

If the other Pokemon games are anything even remotely close to this, I have no idea how the franchise has lasted so long. I really struggle to think of any redeeming features. And this crap cost me £50.

Take the old original games on gameboy and overlay the good graphics and bad mechanics of the mobile game and overcharge it for what it is.

Still a good game, got a solid 30 hours out of it and had fun while playing.
Bad things except for the catastrophically mechanics was bad performance and loading times was a joke.

would recommend to buy this if you find it on a sale but not otherwise

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's Go is a No Go.

Right off the bat this game baits you with nostalgia only to bash you over the head with its poor capture mechanic and awkward single joycon controls. Adding to the frustration, pokemon can run away at literally any time up to and even including when the pokeball hits. Even the Encounter pokemon can run from you too now.

Speaking of Encounter pokemon, you now have to battle them first before you can try to capture them. Plus you only have 5 minutes to beat them in. This restriction is quite unfair as now you need to over power your pokemon to finish the battle in time to get to the capture phase.

The motion controls for the capture mechanic are also inaccurate at times causing your ball to fly off to the left when you want to throw to the right. Most of the time when I wanted to throw directly in front of me, I had to move the joycon up as if I was throwing underhanded. I should mention also that while doing this, my joycon was in the joycon grip accessory alone as not using the Left joycon too felt awkward.

Next is the issue of the box your pokemon are stored in. in every mainline pokemon game, as well as Pokemon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness, your pokemon were sent into multiple boxes that could hold up to 20 in the old Gen 1 and 2 games, to 30 pokemon each in Generation 3 and up. Now you have a single box that hold up to 1000 pokemon! Game Freak expects you to be capturing tons of pokemon, but doing so makes it harder to pick out a pokemon to use, similar to picking out a marble from an ever increasing bag of marbles. Without being able to use multiple boxes, sorting pokemon becomes as easy as cleaning a kid's bedroom.

When it comes to training pokemon you're going to have to rely on that capture mechanic most of the time as the only battles you'll be facing are from either 6 specific encounter pokemon, or Trainers. This winds up giving you little personal experience in battling with little room for experimenting outside of battling the elite 4 or Green.

While hyper Training was brought back for this game, it's now rendered moot as there is now a candy system in place to also make a sugar junkie out of your pokemon as you boost their stats with more than just Rare Candies. Beware though, if you take your buffed out pokemon online, you stand running the risk of your pokemon facing a sugar crash and having their stats reverted for the online battle unless you choose the right rule set.

Also online battles and trades are pay walled by the Nintendo switch online service now.

The amount of unique pokemon you can get is also SEVERLY limited to just the first 151 pokemon, plus what might as well be considered Generation 8's first 2 pokemon, Meltan and Melmetal, as they are not usable anywhere else other than the multi-generational pokemon Go. Speaking of Pokemon Go, at the time of this writing, Pokemon Go has pokemon captureable from Generations 1 through 4, but only Bulbasaur through Mewtwo, as well as Meltan and Melmetal can be transferred into Let's Go. This means that in order to get Mew in Let's Go, you need to get the pokeball Plus while the Mew promotion is still going on.

Speaking of that device now, the Mew on it can only be redeemed once. so choose wisely what you do with it. As for how good the device is, I can not say as I do not have it.

While the Game corner does make a comeback, none of the games are playable in it despite the place being converted from a Casino into an Arcade. Instead, you can come here to pick up respawnable items. Fun. /s

The NPC's of Fushia even lie about the Safari zone now as it has been replaced with Go Park.

In past games you could get a bike you could ride to speed up, or ride Tauros in Gen 7. In Let's Go, you get to pick the pokemon you ride, from a selection. However if you get too close to a wall, your pokemon goes back into their ball leaving you on the ground.

Now all that said, I did find somethings likeable about this game. Certain interactions with your partner pokemon were enjoyable, the new Additional story elements were a plus (the additions, not the replacements), and even the part where you get to play as your partner pokemon in the rocket hideout were enjoyable, but they were not enough to save this game.

Nostalgia can only take a product so far, and that distance is even shorter when you have access to the original game, the first remake, and the port to the 3DS. Pokemon Let's go is a No Go, but because of the stuff I did enjoy, I'm giving it a 2 instead of a 1.

An example of this is how easy it is to breeze through any cave/dungeon because you only have to fight the trainers who are already a joke due to the change in difficulty.
And the change in difficulty is a real thing too, I played Pokemon Yellow to make sure my nostalgia wasn't blinding me and it was undoubtedly harder. I caught a bulbasaur in veridian forest and raised it to level 6 so it learned vine whip and then immediately destroyed Brock without a sweat. The only bit of challenge came with onyx that actually damaged me, but thanks to my so-called "rival character" giving me 5 potions when I arrived in Pewter City. At Cerulean city I then wiped out Misty with even less effort thanks to Pikachu.
Any novelty in trying out the neat gameplay and having pokemon walking around in the grass wears off within an hour and you realize your left with (so-far at least) the worst Pokemon game ever made. If you still want to buy this, i recommend waiting till its on sale for at most $15

These games are an insult to everyone who purchased them. The graphics are identical to Pokemon GO with none of the excuse of it being on a phone. The gameplay (if you could call it that) is directly ripped from the mobile game with the story of the Yellow being lazily glazed over it. There is nothing in this game that justifies the cost. I have to return both of these games because I have more self-respect and self-awareness to let Gamefreak take advantage of me. Anything less then demanding a full refund would be a desperate act of denial. I understand that a lot of people played GO and they enjoy this game but, you deserve so much better than GO's sloppy seconds. There is a depth to this game that is sorely missing with none of the passionate flash that enraptured kids in the 90's. I have to wait for user reviews for every pokemon game after this, Gamefreak simply has no credibility anymore putting out something so shamefully half-assed. If you need a reason justify your Switch purchase, buy Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Breath of the Wild, or Bayonetta 2. If you desperately need to play a pokemon game, play the original Yellow Version on ROM. If I had to sum up my problems with these games it would be that they're very shallow, unambitious and soulless. ItIf I had to sum up my problems with these games it would be that they're very shallow, unambitious and soulless. After having normally proportioned humans and non-grid based environments in Sun and Moon it feels like a huge regression to suddenly have chibi characters and unnaturally squared world designs again, especially since the Switch is a much more powerful console than the 3DS. It doesn't help that it looks much cheaper than all other big Switch titles such as Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey or even Splatoon. That wouldn't really be a problem if it wasn't sold at the same price as these.

"But graphics aren't everything!" I can hear you say and you're absolute right. Sadly, the gameplay reflects the same half hearted, lackluster attitude as the game's looks. This 2018 game's map offers the exact same content as a Gameboy game from 1996. You might try the weak excuse of "It's a remake" but even that fails when the 2004 GBA remakes offered more content in form of the Sevii islands which also greatly expanded the amount of Pokemon you could encounter. LGPE has no such thing, no new post game areas, no way to encounter new Pokemon. It has the smallest regional dex with 153 since Diamond and Pearl but even GameFreak realised this and expanded it with Platinum. So this fully priced Switch game gives you less content than the 2004 GBA Kanto adventure and has the least Pokemon of any game since 2006.

Saying that LGPE are an overpriced, lazily made cash grab is at this point an understatement. But it even gets worse. The Pokeball plus accessory is the only way to obtain Mew in this way. Locking a Pokemon behind a 50$ paywell is just bad business practise. It's especially shocking to me that gamers are just accepting this since there was such a loud outcry againnst stuff like day 1 DLC, lootboxes and pay2win strategies. And GameFreak made sure you can't transfer Mew from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Let's Go. So they're fully aware of this and simply using it to exploit their customers.

I could go on about how the combat was stripped of all the mechanics that were introduced over the years such as abilities, hold items and natures or how the gym requirements further casualize a series that's already overblown with casualization but I think I've made my point. However, I do want to be fair and mention some positives for me like the usage of Pokemon on the overworld or that some characters were more fleshed out with more interactions.

On a technical level these games are fine. They're harmless fun for people who want to relive their childhood experiences of Kanto. But as someone who has been with this series for over 15 years I can't just ignore all of what I've said above. I can't ignore how much these games have been a regression from what came before and how exploitative and cheap they feel. It's not anyway near what the Switch or Pokemon as a franchise is capable of. And GameFreak is aware of that. They know they can just release mediocre, lackluster products and they will sell. That's the real reason why despite saying that on a technical level these games are fine I'm giving them such a low score. Scummy behavior like this should be discouraged as much as possible. I can only hope that Gen 8 will be better and have some actual effort put into them.

sigh...I am just so upset and worried at this point after playing Let's Go. It has so little content and many of the wonderful things that made the game progressively better were suddenly removed (held items, abilities, a ton of moves, BREEDING?!?!, fishing, day/night, wild battles, exp share off/on option, a developed story...) it is just so bare...SO bare that you can play and feel like you're the loneliest person on the planet. I want to attack and fight with my pokemon, not throw balls all day....but that is just me. I worry for the future...I hope they don't use these simplifications for the next game to be released because that will be crushing.
On a positive note...this game having an IV checker is fantastic and I like being able to easily tell how good or bad my catch is...that is about the only addition I was thrilled with though.
Please...PLEASE, Nintendo...also realize we are grown-ups now for the most part...intrigue us with something a bit darker if possible next time, or just keep the strategy alive so we are stimulated....

However, this is not the case and instead people are not only asked to pay full price of 60$ for a game that clearly comes from a handheld, but even worse, for a game that is in no way a definitive version of the first generation Pokemon games. The first remake, FireRed/LeafGreen, had much more content available for a lower price (and a free dongle to trade wirelessly and play minigames) but even the original Red/Blue/Yellow is giving Let's Go run for its money when it comes to the value provided. Add to that performance issues like unstable framerate or unrefined motion controls, and it's very hard to justify the price tag to anyone who either respects his/hers money or the series itself.
While I don't condemn changes made to the game's formula in Let's Go, there being no way to adjust gameplay according to one's preferences, like turning back on wild Pokemon battles, turning off exp. share or simply allowing the players to use the ProController, builds an image of an unfinished product, which stands out in a bad way among (mostly) great games so far released by Nintendo on Switch.

The only combat is against Trainers and, while it is beautiful in its animation and design, is a huge let down. This is a $30 game at most since they took out the one thing that made Pokemon have a long play time, and that is combat. This is just a cash grab using the Pokemon nostalgia. Expand

The catching mechanic is a slap in the face to anyone who found Pokemon Go already dumbed down, but I actually grew to like it for a couple gyms. But then it gets insanely old with no interesting storylines to keep us interested, and grinding for anything like a shiny is so monotonous, at least I used to have to go to the Pokemon canter to refresh PP. Battling and trying to catch a rare Pokemon used to pay off, now what's the point of training up? I can use every Pokemon I have at any time during the game, are there going to be events or expanded multiplayer? With the absence of held items, random battles, and everything else that made the main series different from every other knockoff, I feel like I'm playing a knockoff. If I wanted to just play anything with the Pokemon name on it, I'll pick up Pokemon Pinball again, even that has depth.

Really I'm just disappointed, this feels like a game that could have come out on my iPhone 5 years ago. Anyone who's played one of those online Pokemon MMO's knows the potential of this game. We could have seen real players walking around in game and spark up a battle in Viridian Forrest, or at least battle something. Why would you advertise or even hint at such potential and then deliver such a stripped down version, are they taking tips from Bethesda? lol. I really wish this game was fun. They've had me hooked since I was 10 and I want to play a great (or even good) Pokemon game, but this isn't it. Just download one of the knockoff Pokemon games on your app store, any of those will deliver about as much content.

I will say the music and graphics, etc. have improved, but who gave a hoothoot about that when playing Pokemon? Priorities are reversed, hopefully some of this feedback gets to the developers and they make a game for us again. This game is for children or people who have never played a Pokemon game or video game at all. If it was billed/marketed this way, there would be only a fraction of these poor reviews.

Oak is now a dick by making a joke about forgetting his grandson's name, "Trace" is a poor man's Hat and Green put together (and I hated Hau personally), Green is back for some reason and they changed him too much for that point in his development, and nothing has been improved. There are no more held items nor Abilities (which FireRed and LeafGreen had), the new moves are laughably bad (like the infamous Baddy Bad), the over reliance on charm means every other aspects were overlooked, and I personally did not like the Go mechanics from the ground up, even though that was also a mess in general.

Did this game do good things? Sure. The Master Trainers are a neat idea (though I feel they went overboard with every single Pokémon having one, meaning for the most part you have to stop them from evolving and feed them candies for the postgame), Blue being canon is nice though ultimately unnecessary, rematching the Gym Leaders is cool (even though it's not the first game to do so), and I guess the Pokémon following you again was nice (though not a deal maker/breaker for me). But those positives are vastly outclassed by negatives that are a lot more essential in a game. The controls barely work, but hey look at that Pikachu's clothes! It's just hiding your head in the sand.

There are some aspects of the game that I like. For example, I believe that you are able to choose which Pokemon you want to catch instead of random encounters is nice and I preferably quite like it. I also think that because of the new combo feature and the Shiny Charm, it makes catching shiny Pokemon more enjoyable and easier rather than spending hours on end trying to find that one shiny Pokemon you were looking for. There are many features that are unpleasant and disappointing about this game as well. I found this game to be quite fun when I was playing it. I liked battling all the gyms and battling the Elite Four again, but after that I quickly lost interest in the game. I myself am not a shiny hunter so that takes the aspect of "chaining" as I call it and filling up the PokeDex out of the question. The "Master Trainers" don't provide a interesting thing to do after the game, and Team Rocket does a lousy job of trying to battle your trainer again after the game. Overall, I am disappointed in the post game adventure unlike Sun, Omega Ruby, and X. I also am not a fan of the catching mechanism that Game-freak used in this game. I find myself using too many Pokeballs and infuriating myself on how Pokemon somehow instantaneously flee from battles breaking my chains. I am used to spending 1-3 Pokeballs in the other core games rather than 7-9 Pokeballs in this game. I also dislike how there are only 151 core Pokemon in this game (excluding the legendary, special Pokemon, and the Alolan Pokemon). This makes for the game to be somewhat boring and tiring going through. I honestly think there is a lack of story line here both in game and post game. The way that Game-freak merged the game with Pokemon Go was disappointing and unpleasant for the core gamers. Overall, I think you should give this game a try. It's not only my opinion that shapes your mind to whether you want to buy the game or not. I think it should not be called a core series game and more of a sub-series game. Disappointing overall. Pokemon Let's Go is a beautiful looking Game. The Graphics are very polished and you can see Pokemon on the surface, i enjoyed that feature.
Thats all positive i have to say about this game though. The game felt to me like a beta test of how much content they can cut from a game before people get mad.
-The coop sounded amazing in theory but it is propably the worst thing about the game.

-The coop sounded amazing in theory but it is propably the worst thing about the game. As player 2 you are not only unable to interact with anything in the game but you are mere a teleporting hologram following the protagonist to enable him a 2 v 1 battle. Thats it (well you can stun roaming pokemon for about 1.5 seconds to help the real player catch it more easily). Oh and if the protagonist initiates a 2 v 2 battle you are getting straight up benched. The most anoying thing about coop is that it unbalances the allready ridiculous easy game to a point were it is just not anymore enjoyable.
-The catching system is straight out of Pokemon Go. I personally didnt enjoy this concept but i get why people would prefer the "throw ball in face feature" over the old fashioned way. What noone should enjoy is that the throwing mechanic is frustratingly unpredictable and shouldnt have left the aplha version of this game.
-The xp rate of just blindly catching anything you see wins against all other means of getting xp wich leads to the pokemon mass production playstyle we all love from pokemon go. Catch a lot of pokemon > Put them in the "send to oaks blender" > Get Candy > Feed the pokemon that matter. Oh and the pokemon that matters is really just Eevee, wich is so ridiculously overpowered that after teaching it its new abilitys, we at some point had to remove it from the team for ruining the combat experience.
    - The new Breeding experience for the people that love to create the perfect Pokemon is quite non existing. After seeing a ditto pillow in the daycare center i got shortly exited, but then i realized you can put there only one pokemon at a time. Removing another aspect i loved about the main series.
They just removed pokemons selling points, copied the cashgrab mobile, increased the graphics , increased the price and created the most casual experience i had for a very long time, almost as if this game was targeted towards toddlers.

Let’s Go also doesn’t do the Nintendo Switch justice in strictly technical terms. In stark contrast to Nintendo’s own blockbusters such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, the 2.5D world of Let’s Go is made of simple, flat textures with terrible lightning and very limited animations, more fitting for a mobile or handheld game than a fully priced console release. Experience share cannot be turned off resulting in the player always being incredibly higher level than their opponents, and if they got any ideas about doing something earlier than before they would have a 100% chance of success, the game will outright prevent them, requiring players to have the tools needed to easily beat every boss before they fight them. Catching Pokemon is now a mindless affair that has players throw balls at Pokemon as they put up no resistance whatsoever, effectively turning the entire game into the Safari Zone from previous titles.

The game is a remake of the original Pokemon Red and Blue that offers nothing of its own, instead dumbing down an already easy game to the point of unplayability. You don't have to be a skilled gamer to be appalled at the lack of challenge in these games, as there is so little challenge that there is no real gameplay as the game plays itself, with the "player" as more of a spectator. Nearly all advances the series has made have been left in the dust in the attempt to make the game appeal to a more casual audience. The Pokemon Company has deleted abilities, held items, and over half of the moves in the Pokemon franchise's extensive library seemingly at random. Only generation one Pokemon are present in the game, as the game pretends that the advances the series has made in the past 22 years don't exist. The gameboy advance remakes of Red and Blue, Fire Red and Leaf Green, were far more respectful to the franchise as a whole, as well as having any semblance of difficulty.

However, there is a role for this game as an entry point for new players. It looks a lot prettier than the older games and they decided to tone down the difficulty to a ridiculously easy level. I would definitely recommend this game for new players to acquaint themselves with the Kanto region and the original 151 pokemon. For players who have even touched another game in the series, this game will get boring very fast.

Let's not debate if that makes any sense, the main issue is it is extremely boring. in contrast, back when you can battle wild pokemon, you can at least test the effectiveness of the your pokemons' skills and have a variety of sorts so it's more interactive than throw a pokeball, catch the pokemon, throw a ball, catch a pokemon, give all the excessive pokemon to professor, throw candy, throw a ball, catch a pokemon, fight a trainer....... this game is god awful and you should avoid it at all costs.

Region got recycled for the 7th time, character animations got recycled from the 3DS models, which feels lazy. The battle animations are also extremely unimpressive considering the switch has very high potential in that regard. The frequent frame drops the game has are inexcusable for a 2018 game. As for the new additions:
Catching mons with motion controls feels klunky and bugs out often. Proper targetted catching can be bought for an additional 50$ and the Pokeball Plus is an absolute nightmare for controlling your character outside of the catching process.
Arbitrary requirements to enter gyms are now present, with one of them forcing your to enter a gym overleveled. Thanks for spoonfeeding me, Nintendo.
It is a pretty game. But thats about it. Not worth the 60$, and very disappointing for Pokemons grand entrance on the switch.

Over 20 years, Pokémon has been one of the series that make fans to enjoy new adventures. There are a lot of things that make Pokémon the huge success that it is. However, it seems that in Pokémon Let's Go everything was lost.

1°: The addition of grass in the overworld is pointless. Pokémons can come and by and you don't even need to walk on the grass to trigger an encounter.

2°: There is no Pokémon reward anymore. In order to get some Pokémons, you either have them in your team and train them until they could evolve by level up or by stone effect or you could spend some time searching around until you could find a very rare final evolution of such Pokémon. Now it is pointless as when you walk into the Mt. Moon and you just need to wait until a Clefable spawn or having a Butterfree spawning by your side at Veridian Forest.

3°: I get the 150 ones... But how could they exclude the whole bunch of evolutions and pre evolutions of Kantonian Pokémons found in generations ahead? It is another pointless thing for me. The game simply ignored all the evolutions of pokémons. Instead, they added Alolan forms and Mega forms. Kanto should have their updated pokedex with their 184 Pokémons.

4°: Pokémon appearing in the wild is very cool, but it causes a lag in the game. There are moments when the frame rate drops and this is due the appearing of the pokémons.

5°: The controls were terribly planned. The could let people play in the TV by the use of both joycons or pro controller. However, they force you to choose either traditional way [handheld] or with movement controls. In addition, it is disturbing because in every game, the movement control is in the left hand and the options is in the right hand. Now they force you to choose either playing with right hand or left hand. They could leave the option of playing with both joycons as if it were on handheld mode.

6°: The pokeball plus. It is bad having access to one of the pokémons by just buying a peripheral. Bu the problem is because this peripheral can't be used in any other game.

7°: The game is repetitive and does not have the replay fact. By the middle of the game, you get tired of so much battles and the lack of a catching story. You play just for playing... This could have been improved in this remake. Yet, everything was made equally in the yellow version.

8°: The game is simply easier and difficultly pokémon would have achieved its huge success if it was like this. The game turned back to everything that make it great. The playing mode in the game should have come in a "easy mode" where players could choose to play in a easy one or in a traditional one.

9°: Battles with friends is fun, but again pointless as the surprise factor and training factor don't interfere anymore. Battles were a complicated fact in pokémon core series as it demands a lot of time and lots of combinations to make everything perfect for a battle.

10°: Why removing the buying factor? What is the point of having pokéballs all the time? You can find a pack of 5 in the overworld, you can earn as reward and you can buy them for just 100$. It is like having infinite pokeballs.

I could go on and on... But I won't... The game change bad aspects of previous ones... But what we want is not make change everything and erased all the concepts, instead we want things to build up. In this past 20 years, we have seen how pokémon storage have been changed, for instance... This updates does not change the game, but make improvements which are well accepted... What Pokémon Let's Go did was basically ignore all the things the series have been loyal for over 20 years.

A simple, nostalgic return to the Kanto region, offers little if you are a series veteran eager for complexity and challenge. But if that's not your main interest, Pokemon Let's Go has it all! It's a simple, cute and fun game that will keep you hooked for hours. An excellent starting point for newcomers, and a great nostalgia trip for those in a search for one.

It’s hard to make sense of the game that’s basically a Switch port of iOS/Android remake of Pokemon Red/Green. Is it a step forward, step backward – or maybe just a shameless cash-in? Turns out, it’s a great remake – the world looks exactly as we imagined it back when we were staring at black and white pixels of original Red/Green. [Issue#235, p.44]
