While the gameplay is a bit repetitive, the story behind Poison Control will keep you hooked. The story behind each Belle is unique and the mystery that surrounds both you and Poisonette is engaging. The leveling systems are simple enough to pick up on and the exploration aspects of the game and the weapon and equipment management are fairly deep. If Poison Control has taught me anything, it is that sometimes the professional viewers just get it dead wrong. This delightful little game - once you master the mechanics (and be patient, as that may take a few levels of hell to do) - is an absolute treat. The concept is that you are running around hell as a main character and having a small poison devouring demon woman borrow your body to remove poisonous mires. It's a whacky mix of a third person shooter, a dungeon crawler, and I don't even know how to describe what your poison demon does. Who knew that hell was this cute and pink, and with a radio station, nonetheless? The game does get a bit creepier as it goes on, but is a light, fun, play that's a great way to pass the time. I'm surprised it didn't score higher. If you like passive aggressive girls competing to have the most ridiculously bouncy, large breasts and enjoy a unique experience that isn't too challenging, check this game out and stick with it through the first three levels. I was so frustrated when I died on level 3 about 15 times, but I watched a YouTube playthrough and then just "got" how to play this game, and after that it was a pure joy of fun with a fair bit of comedy and a lighthearted gameplay. Hell is worth the price of admission. Expand

Poison Control could have gone for a more ambitious production. Its plot, fun dialogues, and marvelous looking cutscenes demonstrate that there was some potential for that. However its repetitive gameplay, a level of challenge that's hardly enticing, and a game world that looks mostly subpar mean that Poison Control falls into a generic and unremarkable territory that will fail to impress.

With great presentation and an entertaining narrative, Poison Control is a weird mixture of dungeon crawler, visual novel and third-person shooter. It could have been the next great niche title, if not for its problematic shooting mechanics.

Ultimately, Poison Control is a let-down of how good it could have been. Utterly lacking in the cohesive element, some parts absolutely stand out, where so many others fall far short. The shooting is serviceable, the 'cleaning' gets old fast, and the story doesn't really go anywhere. Poisonette and the main character have a great dynamic, which serves to only show how short other aspects really fell short.
