If you skipped ONE PIECE ODYSSEY on its debut platforms, the Switch version with all DLC included is an easy recommendation for those who like One Piece. The DLC included makes this a better value proposition as well. I enjoyed the game before already, but it was great revisiting it in a very good conversion for Nintendo’s hybrid system. We need more ports like this and Ace Combat 7 from Bandai Namco Entertainment.

One Piece Odyssey Deluxe Edition is a solid port of a good game. It looks great and runs fairly well in both docked and portable modes, though sitting through loading times for every single battle can get very tedious.

One Piece Odyssey for Nintendo Switch is a port that keeps all of the original game's enchantment including all the post-release content. Despite poor graphics, fans of Eiichirō Oda's series will find this a worthwhile option.

I sincerely enjoy what ONE PIECE ODYSSEY DELUXE EDITION offers and hope to see a sequel that adds a lot of challenge and variety because without those 2 ingredients, Luffy's RPG adventure feels like it's lacking booty.

One Piece Odyssey may not exactly be reinventing the wheel with its rather basic approach to JRPG game design, but it nonetheless provides a fun and engaging adventure that we’d recommend to any fans of One Piece or RPGs - preferably both if you don't want spoilers from the manga and anime. Though quibbles like the middling presentation and rather ‘safe’ gameplay design keep this one from being a top-shelf RPG, the strategic combat system, meaningful exploration, and nostalgic story all come together to make for a worthwhile experience that holds up well. We wouldn’t suggest you rush out to buy this straight away, but it’s definitely one to consider when a modest sale comes around.

One Piece Odyssey is a straightforward RPG crusade with the infamous Straw Hat Pirates. While the game doesn't do anything excitingly new or impressive, this escapade is still a noteworthy adaptation of the admired adventures of Luffy on his search for the One Piece.

The conversion for Nintendo Switch does not do full justice to ONE PIECE ODYSSEY, which won over audiences and critics last year (albeit with some reservations). Bandai Namco Entertainment's decision to directly market the Deluxe Edition of the product, which at this time therefore includes all the DLC previously sold separately, does not at all compensate for the serious technical compromises that the ILCA team had to make in order to run the title on the hybrid car from the Kyoto company. Between interminable loading times and a very poor visual performance, not even the possibility of using it on portability could push you to prefer this version to the previous ones. Get it on Switch only if you are unable to play it elsewhere.
