Feb 12, 2022This game is pretty good. The gameplay is a tribute to good old Zelda, 2D or 3D, but it is a bit harder than an average 2D Zelda. The crafting system is a cool addition, and the secondary quests add more challenge. The performance is good. The UI/Menus are a bit heavy but clearly separated. The dialogues add some humour and we can find references to many things everywhere in the world.

Mar 4, 2022Ocean’s Heart is undoubtedly inspired by titles such as The Legend of Zelda’s The Minish Cap. Yet what it successfully re-establishes in terms of visuals and basic mechanics, it painfully lacks when it comes to the story, dialogues and gameplay depth. If you are looking to scratch that Zelda itch with nothing better on the horizon, Ocean’s Heart might prove to be a perfect candidate. But surely never forget – heart may sound like a lot but is never much without a soul.

Feb 19, 2022From start to finish, Ocean’s Heart is an enjoyable, albeit short, adventure following the familiar 2D Zelda formula. Having a brand new world to explore, filled with various side quests, should be enough to get any fan of that classic top-down template excited. While the writing and dialogue feels subpar at times, the familiar, yet still-solid gameplay makes up for it. Ocean’s Heart is undeniably a 2D Zelda game in all but name, but Tilia’s adventure shows that a game doesn’t always need to be groundbreaking to be a good time.

Feb 14, 2022Let’s revisit the question I asked at the beginning: is Ocean’s Heart worth playing? Absolutely. The low difficulty and complexity make it feel like Zelda for beginners, but that’s not necessarily a fault either. It might not reinvent the wheel, but Ocean’s Heart has just enough heart to make it worth it.
