The level design is competent throughout. Nearly every stage is enjoyable, there is little filler in the game except for those numerous puzzle rooms in the hub worlds, those are an absolute pain to go through and very repetitive. The puzzle rooms detract from what would otherwise be my favorite "Indie" (even though it's not really) 3D plaftormer, I like it better than A Hat in Time as it's more focused on platforming and less filler. New Super Lucky's Tale is a Videogame about a child who jumping and smiling saves many worlds and became a Guardian, just like His Sister, this game can be the easiest game of the generation (i don't know), but in the simply and easy stuff, it manages to be Funny and do something, than is like forgotten on this generation... to play... and smile...

The game itself is like a Poetry Letter to the all late 90's Platformers, i personally feel the game like to play Spyro 2 back in 1998, But also reminds for me other beautiful platformers like Pac-Man World, Croc (1 & 2) and the list can be extended and extended...

When i said than i feel like Spyro 2, is because the game feels like this game for me; let me explain: each level starts with a story and a problem, doesn't matter if the problem is simple or not, is a problem, and you as Lucky, Bringing charm and happiness, go through the level, and solve the problem in order to leave it, but, you can do many other things than rewards you while are solving the problem, and this was something than in late 90's very few games can do, specially spyro (1 & 2), You arrives to a level, the level have a bit story about a problem, you go through the level collecting stuff and making extra challenges (if you want) and solve the problem... After you solve certain ammount of problems and clearing levels, Your Magical Book, who feels so much like Spyro 2's Guidebook, it enables the BOSS Door...

It maybe is the first time on these generation, than a Videogame than is not a Remake, make me happy and i can feel that, and even Mario Odyssey with that Sandbox twist can't do, and i'm not comparing annyone, i'm just saying than even mario changes his entire 3D games for a Sandbox... and maybe was fun for the most, but is not always the better way

Back to the Game, New Super Lucky's Tale, is a poetry letter to all those amazing late 90's platforming videogames, and all that the game do, do pretty well.

This version of the game has lot of improvements compared to the original Xbox One Version, like the free camera and new colorful textures... in adittion gets the 2 DLC on the base game and... this is not something big, but it really appreciate than has everything at start (the both DLC unlocks by passing the story)

Maybe the game was made it for children because the colorful world and charming characters, but it was really designed for everyone, for everyone who wants awoken his/hers inner child once again...

Simplist controls who made you mastered throught the game
Amazing Levels based on specific themes (Farms, Valleys, the amazing 80's, etc...)
Really Charming characters who can connected with You, From Lucky itself to the Kittens, Worms, even the Golems are so cute and charming
An Easy Game with a really good difficulty curve, Literally the post-story world is very hard, very hard compared to the game itself...

I just finish the game (i need to do a simply little thing, but the game is 120% completed for me), and... is the first time on that videogame generation, than a Videogame Who is not a 90's Remake, can make me so... so happy...

i really Appreciate what Playful studios made creating Lucky, and i'm really hope than his Adventures could continue in the Future... Because i feel on Lucky So Much Potential for that...

Thank You Playful Studios... Thank you... Lucky Swiftail...

No way, they completely overhauled the game once more to make it a master platformer on the Switch. Remade levels, new backgrounds, extra lore, and everything else they did clearly showed the love they had for their character and their desire to make the game of their dreams. And the result is a JOY! Super Mario meets Spyro the Dragon in this charming adventure of a fox going on a quest fighting silly cat villains, saving yeti monks, and giving you colorful worlds to collect and explore. While this game isn't very long and only occasionally challenging, it's packed with a lot of joy and really calls back to the platformers of old. I hope this is only the beginning of Lucky's adventures, as he could easily join the ranks of Spyro and Crash if they keep up this momentum. Expand

I didn’t know if this was a glitch or I just closed the game at a game time so I replayed the game and even got the second to last world. Then I spent a bit trying to make sure it would save. I exited though the main menu option and loaded it up again and all seemed well. Then I closed the software to open another game. When I went back to finish the game I was back at the beginning again!!!! I can beat the game in one sitting but at this point, I don’t want too!!!! The last 2 worlds aren’t worth going though the majority of the game for a 3rd time. I wanted to complete this game, but what’s the point if all my data will just be deleted again? It really ruined the game for me. Expand

This game is definitely a step up from its original release back in 2017. Not only has the gameplay improved, but the graphics, story, and presentation has also improved. The only negative I have to say about this game is that the game is pretty short. It took around 3 hours to beat the main game and an additional hour to 100% complete it. I'm just hoping that a sequel comes out pretty soon.

This mechanic is very well utilised during the game, with sections where you can only use this mechanic or puzzles utilising the mechanic. It's a simple hark back to when 3D platformers were simple yet fun.

The game is very polished and has a wide variety of level play styles, with runner sections, 2D platforming sections, puzzles and rolling ball levels as well. The puzzles are a bit filler and I had got pretty tired of them by the time i finished the last one. Each world ends with a boss battle -- my favorite was Lady Meowmalade.

Once you have finished the main boss there are further challenges available, including more difficult variants of previous bosses, and I found these pretty tough. The rolling ball levels here were really superb.

As usual with Switch games, the game doesn't implement achievements/trophies on Switch even though they are available on other platforms, which means the Switch is missing content.

The framerate was quite consistent during gameplay, but did occasionally dip in some of the later difficult levels. The physics becomes less stable at low framerates making these levels a bit more challenging.

It took me just over a couple of days to complete. Overall I quite enjoyed playing it.

This game is a throwback to the games of Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Banjo, and even with Super Mario. It is a great blend. The plot, graphics, and controls are excellent for the Switch which makes the game very enjoyable.

The character controls are fluid and precise, which is really important for a platformet game. Level design is great, as it makes you want to explore and look behind every corner. Each level is connected to a hub, called world. You will travel through multiple worlds, each having unique environment with rich and vibrant colors, looking on par even with Mario Odyssey.

The game varies its gameplay through different level types and mini-challenges. One time you will play 3D platformer level, another time it's a 2D one. Next level is a sidescroller, after that comes labyrinth. It really keeps the game from getting stale.

On the other hand, mini-challenges that each world presents you with are fun the first time you play through them, maybe even second one, but soon you will find out they don't really change that much, each of them being variation of previous one with little to no innovation. And you need to complete them all to 100% the game, making it just feel like a chore, especially when you have to go into loading screen to do them, as the loadings are unfortunately rather long. It's a pitty as some of these challenges provide, shockingly, challenge and could be really great if not for the repetitivness. Especially so when you get to the last series of mini-challenges the game provides, unexpectedly showing whole new type that introduces you to smaller and enviromentally bland, but ultimately harder and faster paced levels. If this type of challenge was installed through the whole game, I wouldn't mind.

Speaking of challenge, the game is rather easy, only with couple of exceptions. It's not necessary a bad thing, depending on what you are looking for.

I didn't encounter any major bugs or hiccups. Framerate was stable most of the time, having noticeable drops during some occasions, but it didn't really ruin my experience or anything.

When I was thinking about score, I would really love to give it 10 out of 10, but I just can't. Main issue being the repetitive challenges. They luckily don't take much of your time, but the devs showed they can make them more fun and varied.

    Final score: 9/10

New Super Lucky's Tale is a charming and well done platformer. The number of moves you have may seem limited, since you learn nothing else in your journey, but the game does a good job of making sure you use all of the moves all of the time. The colorful look is aided by the general charm of the characters to create an experience where you're constantly grinning. It may be easy for genre veterans, and the load times can be annoying, but the short runtime ensures that the game doesn't overstay its welcome.
