This game is the best out of the three LM games. It’s difficulty was just right, The controls were responsive, and it was very enjoyable. The game is a bit of a mix between the first and second titles. It has more of the open world exploration feel of the first game with the more varied mechanics of the second.

The gameplay and combat is much improved over previous titles and has a more action oriented feel. Depending on your preference, this can be a positive or a negative. I personally found the new mechanics to add to the game, so it is a welcomed addition.

I could go on and on about all the little things the game does right. But you should really just go buy it, find a friend or loved one for co-op, and enjoy the ride.

Truly a masterpiece, well done Nintendo!

The game follows the familiar formula that has been established in the previous two installments in the series: You explore a spooky building (in this case, a haunted hotel) with your trusty vacuum-cleaner on your back, battling and capturing ghosts and sucking up tons of cash that is hidden behind or in every other item and piece of furniture. The open-form exploration of the first game is back, which I whole-heartedly welcome, because I found the mission structure of LM2 very limiting and annoying.

You still have the same basic abilities: Suck, blow, flashlight, and dark light. New is the addition of Gooigi, a second Luigi made of green Goo with special abilities that you can summon by the push of the right analogue stick to help you out with puzzles or in combat. All these mechanics get utilized very well over the course of the game. I only would have liked for

    SPOILER

the super-vacuum to be utilized far more often, because it is just so much fun. It would have been ideal for the final boss fight as well. Have a lightning bolt strike Luigi (and maybe Gooigi) on the roof of the hotel so now they can use the super-vacuum without the need for an outlet. Would have been epic and an appropriate climax. The way it is now, it really only makes two appearances, of which one is optional.

    /SPOILER

The graphics are amazing for Switch standards and the art design is really diverse, imaginative and colourful. You progress up the hotel by collecting missing elevator buttons and every floor has its own, unique theme, complete with an accompanying boss fight. So the whole game is kind of like a theme park. It truly never gets boring and the attention to detail is very apparent. As always, the environment is also very interactive.

The only issues I have with LM3 are ones that I already had with its predecessors. Depth perecption is still quite an issue because the camera is zoomed out so far that it can be hard sometimes to tell where an object or ghost is located in relation to Luigi. Which ties directly into my next issue with the controls. Mostly, they are fine, but sucking things up and aiming to shoot them at a specific object can be really tricky, especially in the heat of a (boss) battle. Also, I always feel like Luigi is just too sluggish on his feet, which is most apparent in the afore-mentioned boss battles, when the game sometimes requires you to have pretty fast reactions. Which is also a difficulty spike that's not in tune with the generally really relaxed pace of the rest of the game. In LM2, this was kind of remedied by giving Luigi a dodge-move. But, for reasons beyond my comprehension, they removed that move.

Then you also unnecessarily lose control of Luigi far too often, every time anything at all happens around him, which I find to be very annoying. Which leads me to my next point: After three games of confronting his fear of ghosts, how can Luigi still be such a whimp? I mean, it may sound kind of silly to ask for character development in a Mario-related game, but this schtick of Luigi as a coward is getting kind of old for me now.

In conclusion, a more than worthy successor to the Luigi's Mansion franchise. Nothing's really that different gameplay-wise, but that's because it doesn't need to be. If you liked the first two games, you can't go wrong here.

P.S. Who are all these Spanish/Mexican people review-bombing this? Are these all fake-accounts from the same guy? This is an English website, dude. If you can't write your review in English, don't even bother.

    This one's also hilarious:
"We feel we have been tricked!
The kids were totally disappointed, and me too.
Where do these high ratings originate from?
I understand now why the preview movie in the estore was so obfuscating.
Don't waste your money time and expectations on it.
It's not a platformer but a very boring kind of role playing game"

If you seriously couldn't figure out that this isn't a platformer (just because it has "Luigi" in the title??) before you spent 60$ on it, you're a dumb-dumb. Nobody tricked you. Not to mention that you also don't seem to know what constitutes a "role playing game".

    Cons:
    - VERY SHORT campaign (finished in 19 hours, all Boos, 74/102 gems, all but one rare ghost).
    - Gameplay is extremely one note from beginning to end.
    - Collectible items are there to solely pad playtime.
    - Controls are often sluggish and imprecise.
    - No selectable user difficulty levels.
    - The low health beep sound effect is way too loud and annoying and can die in a ghost fire.
    - Multiplayer is poorly designed and half-heartedly tacked on.

All told, I'd give the total package a 7.5, perhaps rounded up to an 8 if I'm feeling generous. It's a decent enough title, but still second tier compared to other Nintendo properties like Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or Splatoon 2.

I only mention this because I feel there are probably others that passed on earlier Nintendo consoles, and may also be experiencing this series for the first time. What can you expect?

Mario + Ghostbusters, pretty much what you think. There are a few nagging issues (the controls are finicky and tough to get use to, and the MP mode is devoid of any campaign co-op option) but overall this game is incredibly satisfying and fun.

One thing that stood out was presentation. I'm a Nintendo fan, so I say this with love - Nintendo is terrible at presentation in games. I've never cared about Mario, Luigi, Peach or Toad as actual characters, and I doubt many others have either. However the amount of distinction they are given in this title is inspiring.

From Luigi's hilariously over the top "scared Italian" voice to Mario only speaking in Mario euphemisms - it was a delightful presentation of character that is sorely missing in other games they are featured in. The animations of Luigi are entertaining too - I just about died laughing the first time I noticed "scared face".

There is so much charm here its almost sickening, but its cut nicely by the dark and dreary atmosphere the game creates.

Difficulty is there, surprisingly. It doesn't ramp up until about halfway through - but that's still much sooner than most Nintendo FP titles that leave the difficulty spike for the last damn level.

There IS local co-op, in the form of one person handling the gooey and green Luigi variant "Gooigi" - but this also must be unlocked past the main campaign tutorial section.

The humor was a little more relate-able than usual, not really darker or more mature but certainly more encompassing of the adult players. Some references I'm sure no kid is going to understand.

Nintendo continued to be the "Disney" of gaming, creating entertaining and varying games from their staple cast of familiar faces. It's refreshing to find each time I pick something up - it feels fresh, not just a regurgitation of past ideas. Still the same for Luigi - and now I'll be a lifelong fan of this series as well.

    Worth a buy 8/10

    Great
    1. Art style
    2. Creativity in level design. Each floor is basically a new area, the first couple are slightly similar but then they really switch up the pace that I was excited to see what was behind the elevator doors
    3. It's co-op after about an hour in, all the way to the end. I believe its as fun as solo if not better
    4. The online is worth checking out for a short while. There's mini games but those are local only (odd choice)
    5. Boss fights are unique. There isn't a lot of combat throughout the game but the bosses seem to always deliver

    Poor
    1. Control + Movement. Wow, what can I say. You would think it wouldn't be hard to figure out how to aim a light + vacuum at ghost, but IT DOES NOT work the way you'd expect a third person game should. My total play through was 18 hours and 50 some odd minutes, I had around 15-20 deaths, and more than 80% was because the combat, and mechanics just feel off. You always struggle to get Luigi to do what you want him to.
    2. Story is a simple as it comes.
    3. I'd like to see perhaps more cut scenes, or even voice overs. Not really a Nintendo/Mario thing
    4. **BACKTRACKING** It doesn't happen a lot, but towards the end of the game, they start to implement back tracking. You must find "this person" on "this floor" although you really don't know if you should backtrack as the game never implemented it to begin with. To knock it even more, one of the few times you do backtrack, its during a water level in which you must travel down a float, using strange controls with the vacuum. Punishment.
    5. There's achievements but i didn't really know where they were till towards the end of the game
    6. You can't adjust controls
    7. There's a whole lot of money to collect in the game, but you'll be disappointed in what you can buy.

Even after all that, Luigi Manson 3 has great charm, and interactive game play.

While I did love that game, though, at risk of sounding bad, I never did give “Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon” a shot, simply because I’m not as deeply rooted in handheld games like I was as a child (not counting the Switch, since the system is partially a home console and provides me with more games that feel like “console experiences” than “handheld experiences”). That said, the announcement of “Luigi’s Mansion 3” brought my excitement levels through the roof, as the prospect of a new console “Luigi’s Mansion” game was just too exciting to pass up. And having finally played and beaten the game, I can say it definitely delivered on my expectations!
“Luigi’s Mansion 3” delivers both as a console follow-up to “Luigi’s Mansion,” but also as a fun, charming, family-friendly “horror” game. No, the game isn’t very scary, but for a game about a haunted mansion, “Luigi’s Mansion 3” does do a nice job at creating an appropriate atmosphere, while also nicely eschewing some of the scary moments in favor of charm and lightheartedness. “Mario” games are not story-focused, and while this one doesn’t change that, it does feature some very witty and adorable moments thanks to its bright and memorable cast of characters (Polterpup’s antics are particularly adorable, too). The graphics are extremely sharp, being polished down to the littlest details and bursting at the seams with colorful designs. And from a gameplay perspective, “Luigi’s Mansion 3” retains the fun ghost-catching of the original game, with plenty of changes to help it feel fresh. Combat feels even better here, and the ghost catching feels even smoother as a result of the new options. The Poltergust’s many new control options, such as the Dark-Light, Suction Shot, and Burst are wonderful additions that are taken full advantage of during the game, and the game itself features a vast amount of content. The original “Luigi’s Mansion” was pretty short, but Nintendo’s chosen to beef this one out, and the result is a game that gives you plenty to do, and a lot to explore!
I will say that the game is definitely held back in a few areas. For starters, the controls can be a bit of a hassle to deal with, largely in certain aiming sections. There were more than a few times where I was pondering how a plunger I shot wasn’t lining up, or why the vacuum wouldn’t suck up an energy orb or something to that degree, and that really compounded itself towards the tail-end of the game. While I appreciated that the game was longer than the first, and that there was so much content within the game, many of the puzzles and boss fights near the end can be a bit too obtuse and frustrating to deal with. Sure, it feels good when you get through them, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself needing a guide to understand them.
Those faults aside, though, “Luigi’s Mansion 3” is nevertheless a wonderful game that lives up to its last console entry, and it definitely earns a hearty recommendation. If you’ve enjoyed the series up to this point, “Luigi’s Mansion 3” will surely stand tall among the other titles, along with the many excellent first-party titles on the Switch. It’s nice to see Nintendo bringing this franchise back (especially on a console this time), and here’s hoping they don’t take another 18 years to put another “Luigi’s Mansion” title on a console.
Final rating: 9 out of 10 “Awesome”

Each floor has it's own theme from discotheque and gym to something totally unexpected for an hotel like a pirate (including an ocean in it) and an Egyptian floor. However, some of the floors felt rushed compared to others and there's no big reason to keep exploring them after you beat its corresponding boss as collectibles gems and boos are kind of useless.

Anyway, it's a good game and I'm happy for what it is. For the next one, I'd really enjoy if they do something like a Metroid style exploration and hope they bring the polterpup back, he is hilarious.

The camera is always very "horizontal" and sometimes you can't really see the depth of the room and have to do some "leaps of faith" so to speak. It can be hard to estimate distances in the depth. The gameplay is nice but can get a little dull after some time.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the 3rd installation in Nintendo’s Ghostbuster-inspired franchise. The game takes place in a hotel, where Mario, Peach and 3 Toads get kidnapped by the hotel’s ghosts. Luigi, with the use of Professor Gadd’s newest Poltergust and the guidance of Polterpup, his ghost dog pet, has to explore the 17 different levels of the hotel in order to free his friends.

Luigi, with the use of Professor Gadd’s newest Poltergust and the guidance of Polterpup, his ghost dog pet, has to explore the 17 different levels of the hotel in order to free his friends.

The game is played from a fixed 3rd person camera. For Luigi’s different abilities, there is the option to use the triggers/shoulder buttons or the normal buttons for an old school style. Using the shoulder buttons feels better since sometimes Luigi needs to move, aim with the right stick and use his abilities at the same time. In comparison with previous installations, the game offers more exploration, new Poltergust abilities and co-op gameplay.
Playing with a friend is the best way to experience the game and makes the gameplay feel more comfortable and easier than playing solo. There were times where gameplay felt like it was designed especially for co-op. For example, in some boss fights, swiftly changing between Luigi and Gooigi was a bit challenging in single player compared to playing co-op. The multiplayer mode is not the game’s strongest point, but it is decent nevertheless; Games on the Switch that offer up to 8 player gameplay both locally and offline are always welcome. Nintendo also released a DLC multiplayer pack which adds a variety of stages and styles of multiplayer mini-games to enrich the multiplayer experience.

With regard to graphics, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is one of the best-looking games on the system. The game looks awesome in both handheld and docked mode, presenting a perfect combination of vibrant colors, polished art style, and spooky atmosphere.

Overall, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a significant improvement upon its predecessors and offers a very charming experience and one of the best co-op experiences on the console. Multiplayer mode is a neat plus for enjoying various mini-games with up to 8 players.

Luigi's constant consternation stopped amusing me after a couple of hours. Periodic backtracking is annoying. Mechanics who introduce only for the sake of one scene generally raise a dumb question "why."

However, the game is just cool physics and cool bosses, each of which needs a unique approach .

Am I happy with the game? Definitely yes. Are I satisfied that I took it at full cost, without waiting for discounts? Not.

I highly recommend playing this with a friend in co-op on the couch. Thats the way they intended to play the game.
The best thing about it, are the secrets tho. Some of them are quite challenging. I wished for more things to buy in the shop. It wouldve been nice if you had to find more upgrades for Luigis vacuum cleaner. Like increasing the smash damage or the suction power. That way the player wouldve had a sense of progression throughout the game.
But these are just minor downsides. I loved everything the game had to offer. It is really fun to play after all.

I really liked the graphics (very detailed), clever puzzles, good game mechanics (Gooigi unexpectedly shocked me, how much I liked him) and nearly every boss (The King and the Hotel Owner required a little more of thinking from me). Soundtrack gave a good atmosphere for these game (comfy as well as spooky sounds). Overall, I'm positive about this game, but I had a few struggles here and there. For example while in the pyramid, in the room where ceiling is coming down thx to the snakes statues with lasers. It took me a while to figure out that I should jump near them to stop them. Also, the lack of things to obtain through the money disappointed me a little. I hoped to get the spooky costumes, wearing things clothes adequate to the levels I just beat would be nice. Oh, and the last sad thing about the game was the reward for capturing every boo in the game..

Let me start off with something so detailed and great, which is the cinematic cut-scenes. Seriously, it looks like a beautiful animated movie! The game-play is like the first and second game-play combined into this! The suction shot is really good and handy but the slam function takes a lot of the "Ghost-busters" action into just slamming ghosts back and forth. There are some tough puzzles along the way, but being logical and to think outside the box will solve it!
The story is overall great and the cast of different types of ghosts and portrait ghosts. The portrait ghosts (from the first game) are basically bosses but these bosses can be from easy and simple to really challenging and quite unique. The difficulty is tough and a bit challenging. It's quite a bit disappointing that the ghost battles (not boss battles) aren't hard enough, including towards the late-game content. Also, it feels there isn't enough ghosts battles, basically we need more battles with ghosts, it feels like I'm not encountering them enough per floor. Also, the game isn't scarier as the first two Luigi's Mansion games, but it's still scary!

Other than that the game is spectacular! From cinematic cut-scenes to fighting challenging and unique bosses, this game is fun, scary, unique and has marvelous graphics! So, I give this game a score of 9! [9]

The only gripe about the gameplay is that it becames a bit repetative after a while and that the new slam move is overpowered. It not only damages the ghost that you hit, but it also stunts them and you can emidiatly suck them without needing to flash them again. I found the money to be quite useless in the game. It is only used to by boo trackers, gem finders and extra lifes. Other than that it is determants your rank at the end of the game. The majority of the boss fights were great exept the mechanic boss because of the cluncy controls. All in all, a great game that I enjoyed. Expand

Fun and inoffensive game. Nice gameplay. Love the vacuuming mechanics . Great environments and graphics, but certain parts are a bit repetitive with some annoying backtracking here and there. If that doesn’t bother you then give it a go.

This game is definitely one of the best I’ve ever played and I would give it a perfect score except one of the boss fights in this game has the worst and most frustrating controls I’ve ever seen. Honestly I’m surprised Nintendo even allowed it to happen

Such a fun game to play, I enjoyed this as I did with the first and second. It’s just great to go on another adventure with Luigi busting ghosts. While the bosses and story of it isn’t that great and it’s not to me up there with games like Odyssey or BOTW but This is a game you shouldn't let it pass by, and is something I believe you will have a great time playing.

Fluid game that have presented a creative gameplay, with several commands and different challenges along the way. Fun graphs. Not a higher rate because becomes a bit repetitive as you progress on hotel floors.

Amazing coop, great to introduce loved ones to videogames, for an example!
The game has a couple of tiresome levels, but holds up the quality gameplay, amazing visuals and good pace through and through!

Wonderful and family friendly. It's like the bigger brother from luigis mansion 2. If you liked that one, then you'll love this one.

My son favourite game on NS. From over 20 titles owned by him only Luigi Mansion 3 convince my wife to play Nintendo. Beautiful graphics and fun cooperation make it one of the best games for kids I ever play.

10 out of 10, I mean DAMN. This game takes everything from the past and builds elaborate new puzzles on top of them. Mario Odyssey has been replaced by this game for my Favorite Game of All Time. Extremely polished as a game and is a must have for ANY Switch owner. Story was awesome and had an well thought out ending. Awesome ghosts for fun and action any time.

An excellent addition to the Luigi's Mansion franchise by Next Level Games. Luigi's third adventure is filled with small delights from start to finish, and fans of the franchise will recognize and enjoy the core gameplay of capturing ghosts and solving puzzles. The small cast of characters are bursting with classic Nintendo flavor and the level of polish is exceptional.

The small cast of characters are bursting with classic Nintendo flavor and the level of polish is exceptional.

The additional of a substantive cooperative mode option is a welcome addition, and extremely well designed for casual couch sessions. A second player can drop into the game at any time and take command of a 'copy' of Luigi with special abilities and a large room for error, perfect for a significant other or friend who is less skilled but still interested in playing alongside you.

Prop Art, Sound, and Animation are particularly delightful. I laughed out loud throughout as Luigi's knees quivered, ghosts shook nearby bookshelves, and toilet paper rolls exploded in response to my Poltergust vacuum rampage through a bathroom.

My two major complaints would be pacing and controls. The game dragged on a bit towards the end, with too little variation in the final third of the game. There were occasional frustrating spikes in difficulty - mostly related to the controls themselves. Working both sticks while trying to perform actions can be difficult at times, and launching projectiles accurately at enemies was often frustrating.

Overall, a delightful and lengthy adventure alongside Luigi and Professor E. Gadd with hilarious cameos from familiar faces in the Mushroom Kingdom cast. Recommended for fans of the franchises or newcomers alike, especially if you're embarking with a casual co-op partner.

Luigi's mansion 3 was a fun game, it's full of wacky, fun, and spooky characters. Personally, I think it would be better if it had voice acting, they haven't had a Mario game with it in a while.

Sinceramente, é um jogo que me diverti muito, não é nada super inovador, mas é muito bem desenvolvido, gostaria que eles fizessem uma sequência no futuro ainda melhor.

Luigi’s third solo adventure is the ultimate evolution of it’s formula. A game well designed to be fun either playing alone or with company. Also, it’s visuals and ambiance are incredible.
