I was completely addicted after my first run and I've now spent about 22 hours playing this over 6 days. There are lots of interesting things to unlock and it is satisfying to make just that little bit more progress after every run. I found the story interesting and the graphics and sound add to the unique atmosphere of the game world. Sadly, I'm not sure I have the persistence to push on through past the 3rd (really difficult) boss which is why I've not given this game a 10/10. Overall, Loop Hero is well worth a look if you like deckbuilding games like Monster Train and Slay the Spire. Expand

I wonder if it is possible to underestimate the absence of the Russian language, is it possible to underestimate the absence of any other language in their games?
If it's possible to **** a game over LGBT references, can it be turned against them?
We have become tolerant of intolerance. Or is it different?

Great indie game with a catchy gameplay loop. I'd love to see this on iPad so I can play while watching netflix on the couch.

Don't listen to the kids , who are saying bad graphics.Kiddo go play outside, such games are not about the graphics. It's about gameplay, new mechanics , uncharted territories and just plain fun.

The thing I tend to love most about indie titles is their ability to surprise with remixes of gameplay elements you’ve never seen before. Sure, it can be risky business, and potentially crash and burn, but without such experiments we’d never see original titles like Loop Hero. Part RPG, part strategy, and part roguelike you won’t have an active role in the combat taking place as your hero makes their way around the ever-evolving pathway of the title. That said, you absolutely will be responsible for their success (or lack thereof) through the careful management of their inventory, the town you’ll slowly build to help support them, and shrewd placement of various tiles along the path that can both help and certainly hinder their chances for survival. The trick is that without carefully consulting a guide (which, in this case, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend) how best to approach these placements is a bit of a mystery, and for the best results will require some experimentation and perhaps some luck as well. For people who enjoy a challenge there’s simply nothing else like this on the system, and while it lacks the satisfaction you’d have if you were actively involved in combat there’s a great element of suspense every time you decide to extend your current run just a little longer, hoping your battered hero can weather the storm and bring back even more loot. It’s unusual, inventive, and absolutely worth checking out.

This is a really fun, beautiful, and unique game at first, but it becomes an abrasive grind wall experience at Chapter 3.

One of the greatest indie game ever made. C64 graphic style is awesome. Highly recommended if you like roguelkies/lites with strategy elements.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Loop Hero stands out in the very crowded indie roguelite space. It’s at a very reasonable price point and offers a novel take on the genre. It’s a relatively relaxing game that you can play on the couch, in bed, or on the go. No talking in circles here: the official AggRev stance is that Loop Hero is worth it.

The beloved looping roguelite makes its way to the Nintendo Switch. This decent port is great for quick pick-up-and-play fun and should scratch that rogue-lite itch that many of us have.

Loop Hero is a title reminiscent of those dice, pencil and notebook role-playing games. Highly addictive and with a very good looking artwork, this game is an indie gem on Nintendo Switch.

It's a testament to how compelling Loop Hero's core gameplay "loop" is that you never feel punished by putting in the extra time as long as you're in the right headspace. [Issue #57 – January/February 2022, p. 17]
