Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony has been loved by many gamers since its initial release, highly praised for its quality gameplay and soundtrack as well as Banpai Akira's sharp and gothic reinterpretation of Touhou characters.

This title is the enhanced version of the original game that supports HD remastered graphics and a variety of bonus features. In hopes that more gamers would enjoy Reimu's adventure, the game now supports 6 languages including English. Fans of the original game and the Touhou Project can't also miss the full Japanese voice acting, which is the exclusive feature for the enhanced version.

If you find yourself missing the good old days of action-based Castlevania games or are a big fan of Touhou Project, you’ll likely find some value in Koumajou Remilia. It’s not as exciting now as it was back in the day, and the novelty of paying homage to Symphony of the Night is a ship that has well and truly sailed in modern times. The fundamentals are sound enough, and the boss battles assuredly bring the heat that you may find lacking in the stages leading up to them. There are better 2D action games on the Switch at cheaper prices, but few will scratch the Castlevania itch in exactly the same way.

Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony is a solid retro throwback that provides a good old-school challenge if that's what you're looking for. It may not do anything exceptional but it's still an enjoyable 2D action game that you can whip through in one sitting.

If this was a fan game you were showing to your friends (like it originally was) it would be much easier to recommend. Given that this is a full release and at almost full price it simply does not stack up to the plethora of other better titles. The music is weak, the difficulty annoying, and the platforming so badly controlled there is little to talk up - even to fans of Touhou.

It’s a charming little romp, even if the difficulty balancing feels a little bit off due to the incredibly difficult boss fights. Whilst it’s probably not an experience that justifies its high price point, it may be worth putting on your wishlist and keeping an eye out for a future sale."

Not bad however the game was not as good as I expected. I expected it to be better than Touhou Luna Nights because of its genre, but it wasn't.

Controls feel stiff and movement is sluggish. Extremely disappointed and regret buying this. Also not a metroidvania. Expand
