    As far as party games go, Knight Squad has more going for it than you’d expect at first glance. It’s accessible, it’s frenetic, and it’s fun. The lack of online multiplayer and a worthwhile single-player mode will be easily overlooked when you’ve got your personal squad of knights seeking battle in your living room.

    Ultimately, Knight Squad simply does not have the quality of gameplay to take full advantage of its impressive list of modes. A complete experience could have left a mark, but nobody will be knighting Knight Squad when all is said and done.

Galaga doesn’t captivate you any more. You can only collect so much fruit in Pac-Man before you’re sick of it. Knight Squad solves this issue.

    Knight Squad feels like your classic arcade experience. With simple graphics and a snappy musical selection that isn’t something to write home about, there’s enough oldschool to feel relaxed, but with enough new to keep you motivated to keep playing for a while. Single player is fun enough, but the real charm with this particular title is the multiplayer aspect. Supporting up to eight individual players, Knight Squad can be a great way to spend a weekend evening with your friends.

    Controls here are easy to follow, you get to move and strike with your weapon. Different types of weapons are available with different characters, which brings some level of changing things up if you get bored with one character type. There are 13 game modes, each of which makes more than enough to satisfy your group’s lust for multiplayer action. The one downfall here is that the game doesn’t support online, but all the more reason to get your friends together and kick tail.

    The different game modes can pit everyone together in a free-for-all combat scenario where you’ll be rushing to the center to bring a grail back to your base, or split you and your friends into team for cooperative play. This is where the game really stands out among other party titles, and those who have played online games with their pals like Halo or Call of Duty can have just as much fun here as those old days screen cheating with your best buddies by your side.

    Red Team vs Blue Team is not something we as gamers are unfamiliar with. Capture the Flag and Grail are probably my two favorite modes. Grail is played well even solo, with difficulty settings that allow you to first get familiar with the way the games plays, and then ramp up the difficulty to truly challenge yourself. While the AI ramping quickly becomes insanity, the easier mode won’t satisfy your for very long, so don’t be afraid to try to scale up and move back down should you need to.

    Pros:
    -Incredibly easy to pick up and play
    -A lot of variety
    -Multiplayer is more fun than more expensive games
    -Feels like a throwback retro game

    Cons:
    -Graphics are little dated
    -Sound is so/so
