    I genuinely loved this game, it is underrated. The simplicity is so different and needed when compared to so many other games these years. It's a Kirby game yet people complain about the difficulty level, it does exactly what it should do with a phenomenal story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I genuinely can’t think of a bad thing in this game. The gameplay is fun, especially with friends and family. Building your own little army of 4, and getting to choose that army in separate game modes when you beat the game, is so cool! Combining abilities to get over some obstacles is so creative! And, let’s be honest, it’s a Kirby game. It’s absolutely adorable. Great game, highly recommend for a 2d adventure game, especially with beginners of the Kirby franchise, like me.… Expand

    Is a funny little game, but is some kind repetitive, the game bring the concept of friendship, it would be cool if I don't have to see the same scene a bunch of times each time the player combine their power with their friends.

    This game was just alright. The game is really easy, which I would forgive for a kirby game, but it really feels like an unmemorable kirby game. It was also just kinda boring and the gimmick also felt annoying because the friends just kill everyone and keeps you from getting your own ability.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The AI in this game is literally braindead. It just stays there and looks at you while you die and does not use the healing abilities at all.

    For the later dificulties it becomes imbecilic and frustrating so much you'd probably smash your console, when you're about to die and you look at that Chef AI smiling in your face NOT using the healing ability. I think if they deleted these AI's gameplay would be way better.    … Expand

    This is a great kirby game just as good as any others, honestly I dot get how reviewers can give Epic Yarn 9s and 10 and Star Aliies 6s and 7s..They are good for the exact same reasons.

    It’s pretty but oh so boring. Don’t buy this. If you really want a Kirby game then but Forgotten Land. That is heaps better than this.

    I absolutely adore this game. It’s beautifully crafted, and while not anything revolutionary, it’s a ton of fun in both single and multiplayer situations. You’ll probably get more out of it with the co-op, however. Overall, it’s a casual and cute game to let go of some stress, and totally worth trying the demo to see if it’s your kind of thing!

    +/- de minigames zijn hoe ze vroeger waren: kort en 1 off. persoonlijk vindt ik het niet erg want ze zijn niet de focus van de game

    ? ik snap niet waarom mensen denken dat deze game unfinished is. ik denk dat het komt door de empty level design. maar de game heeft heel veel content, waarschijnlijk nummer in de serie op dit vlak

    To make it clear, my rating is based on the full updated Version of the game.

    The story mode on it's own would be only a 6/10 and can easy be summarized as an basic short Kirby Game. However I like all the characters which were added step by step and the new mode with harder versions of the bosses is exactly the addition the game has needed.     So in the end this Game transformed into a solid game for all who like Kirby or be fans of the franchise. In my case I like the opportunity to form a team of allies with characters like Magolor, Gooey or Suzi from the previous games. I like the new challenging mode, with his tricky and clever puzzles.

    I like the things you can unlock, because it feels like a tribute to Kirby and the franchise itself.

    The only problem is, that this game lacks of originality. It comes not even close to "Kirby Planet Robobot" or "Kirby and the forgotten Land". Which are easily the best two games in the series for me. Nevertheless it was a fun and enjoyable experience that I don't want a miss.

    I didn't expect mutch but i got positively suprised the game is a lot of fun.

    But I would recommend that you wait for a discount if you decide to buy the game.

    It's fun, but it gets old quickly and just doesn't change things enough as other Kirby titles did.

    I really didn't have high hopes for Star Allies, but damn... The only way I'd recommend this is if you have someone to play it. Otherwise, just stick with the other Kirby games.    … Expand

    Bought this on Black Friday for the low price of 26.99, and for that price it's more than worth it for any Kirby fan! Even single player is fun, I personally played through the entire campaign by myself - the levels and characters are cute, and it feels fun just being able to tear through all the enemies with your team with you.

    Too easy because the bosses are very easy if you have 3 friends by your side and make the levels more easier than your avrage kirby game.It's like as if you took the 3ds games,triple deluxe and robobot and took all the creativity and replace the cool gimmicks with a boring one.But it does look pretty and i'll give them that.

    I guess this is an OK game to play casually with your younger children. Having played several Kirby games however I feel like this time it has degraded into a mindfless button mashing and there's simply too much going on on the screen all the time. In my opinion "return to dreamland" was the best Kirby experience.     Fun Kirby game, but definitively not the best one. The level design and difficulty are one of the weakest in the series, however, playing with friends makes the game ten times more enjoyable. The main story mode is way shorter than it should be, but the post game content and replayability makes up for its flaws.     I'm no Kirby fan but it can't be a good sign if the mini-games are more fun than the actual base game. The sprite work and animation are good but the controls are so sluggish and the difficulty is non-existent. If there is literally no challenge at all, what is the point of playing besides looking at the colorful visuals?

    I was not a really big Kirby fan untili played the 3DS versions a few years ago and i can say Star Allies hits it right out the park. Love the gameplay, Love the graphics and love the many different ways of combat. A little to short for me at the end. But overall all, its worth picking up.

The new game mechanic is being able to convert up to 3 enemies into CPU players to play alongside you, including several other major characters from previous Kirby games like King Dedede, Marx, Magolor and several others. In my opinion this was mainly done for fan service and is not used very well. They even make the game easier as they help to kill enemies and can even solve puzzles without the player doing anything. Certainly multiplayer is the main focus of the game, and it works very well. Players have plenty of space in the levels, and it's easy for casuals to just pick up the game and play, due to its simplicity. But like I said, the game can be repetitive when you consider the whole thing. However, alternative modes can offer something more to do, even if you're a more hardcore gamer. We have a mode where we go through a series of levels as quickly as possible using any of Kirby's helpers (including extra characters from older games), a mode where we go through a boss race, and another mode where we go through some Different stages to pick up collectibles ​​solving puzzles that are really challenging, unlike the main mode puzzles. In conclusion, Kirby Star Allies is very average. The story mode is very simple and easy, which is good for casual gamers, but not for more hardcore gamers. However, the extra content makes it easier to find a little more fun. But it's mainly made for people who want a simpler experience or for people who already have some familiarity with the franchise.… Expand

    I feel like I’m starting to have the same problem with Kirby games as I do Mario & Pokémon. One new gimmick isn’t enough for me to overlook a franchise that needs some new life breathed into it very soon. It doesn’t help that this game is SHORT. As in THERES only 4 worlds in the game before you hit the final boss? 4?? Really? Kirby’s first big Switch title & he gets a 5 hour game? I get these games are very replayable but excuse me for not wanting to go back to the same levels over & over again to collect... puzzle pieces. Again, not a bad game, but the Kirby formula might just be stale for me at this point. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the time I had with the game though, short as it was it was a breeze to fly through & I never had a moment where I was frustrated. It’s also a very pretty game to look at, more games need to start utilizing the Switch better *cough every Pokémon game on Switch cough* so they get results that look like this game & Mario Odyssey. The main gimmick is also a major step down compared to Planet Robobot, I still enjoyed it for what it was though. But if you played any Kirby game before, you’ve played this one by proxy. Kirby starts his journey investigating around Popstar & eventually goes into space to defeat an evil shadowy force, how many times is he gonna do this?? I know if it ain’t broke don’t fix it but I really want something MORE out of these games after all these years.. Again, it’s a fun & short breeze of a game but you should not spend $60 on it like I did, if you can somehow get it for $30 it’s well worth it especially if you have friends. Good luck with that since Nintendo is deathly allergic to putting their games on sale no matter the quality.… Expand

    This is an amazing game for the series, if extremely easy. If you are going to play it, I would highly recommend playing with friends. It makes an already 'pretty fun' game become infinitely better. It also has some of the most fun post game content in the series, maybe even as good as planet robobot's.

    Yeah this game was the first to implement Buff Dedede, and it gets a lot of credit for bringing back tons of old Kirby characters and making them playable, but the game itself is super short. It just feels like this game would have been perfect if it was a little longer and they added online co-op or something.     It's not a bad game I had alot of fun playing it with my friends and I would recommend it to the right person however I don't think it's worth the full price. wait for a sale. I enjoyed playing the game but it left a bitter taste in my mouth with how short it was. if you love Kirby this game is definitively worth the pick up

    Kirby Star Allies follows the lineage of his older brothers. A colorful universe, an OST worthy of the saga, a visually resulting Artistic direction, DLC en masse. Despite a new mechanism "the hearts" too falculative, this opus switch gives me lots of stars in my eyes.

Feels like you play for 1 minute and then watch a loading screen for 20 seconds. Completely ruins the flow of the game...     This game has a load of personality. It's incredibly charming and cute to see little details such as friends dancing with you after a well-deserved victory. The music is amazing and there are loads of peppy bangers to get your day started.

    Perhaps the biggest problem about this game is that it just sorta feels like a downgrade to its successors on the DS. I'm not massive about fps, but DS Kirby games running at 60 fps and Star Allies running at 30 fps feels like a big downgrade. The pricing point of this game is also pretty ridiculous. 60 bucks for a game that'll only last you a few hours is laughable. Indie games that are 15 bucks have lasted me over hundreds of hours.

    In conclusion, Kirby Star Allies is a great game for casual gamers and fans, but I'd recommend waiting for a price drop. Having a lovely day/night, folks!    … Expand

    I can't say it's my favourite kirby of all time but it is good overall. The story is descent, but the levels are really good designed and the new abilities are cool. I enjoyed the game more after I finished the story with the game modes. You can play with tons of characters and even the villains of old games. I recommend it for platformer lovers and Kirby fans but I wouldn't say it's a must play.

    Kirby Star Allies is a very fun game. The controls are simple, the graphics are great, and there are a vast wealth of things to do on the game including being different characters which are also enemies. I also like the different combimation attacks with different characters.

    If I have to choose one blemish it is the issue of difficulty which is way too easy. Overall still a great game.

    This game had a lot of potential but somehow misses the mark. I can summarize the experience pretty quickly. Move around an over-world map to select levels, enter the levels to gain co-operative players, things move around fast, level ends, and repeat. The feeling of this game as I played it was, "What's the point?" It didn't feel engaging and didn't draw me in to keep playing it.

While it can be played in single player, the only way to get the full value out of the game is with other people playing with you. There was only a handful of levels and they felt so uninspired. This game was fun for me to play but I wish that we got more content than just dream characters.

Party due to there not being as many colectibles this time around. The game is also the easiest mainline Kirby game to date. Star allies also hands out way to many stars, so they’ve completely lost their value. It kind of feels like NSMB2 kirby edition. The bosses are also way to simplistic. None of them had ex forms until December, which is dissapointing. One thing I really like is how each of the dream friends had a lot of thought & care put into them.     So the first thing you gotta do when you start the game, is turn off the tips, cause they will tell you exactly what you need to do in the puzzles, and since the puzzles are easy, the tips are kinda useless .

    Kirby Star Allies is a fun and relaxing game to play through with friends and family, or even solo. Its colorful visuals, incredible soundtrack, and attention to detail will astound fans of the pink puffball as well as some newcomers. However, it must be known that Kirby games are generally not known for their difficulty. These games are meant to be enjoyed a different way.

    However, I    Kirby Star Allies is a fun and relaxing game to play through with friends and family, or even solo. Its colorful visuals, incredible soundtrack, and attention to detail will astound fans of the pink puffball as well as some newcomers. However, it must be known that Kirby games are generally not known for their difficulty. These games are meant to be enjoyed a different way.

    However, I only had the chance to play this game with the recent updates, which of course includes the museum to add characters like DeDeDe, Meta Knight, and past superstars to your team. While there are other newly added features as well, had I not had them at the beginning I think I would have been a bit disappointed with the game. Some of the new mechanics are interesting like buddy team ups and elemental weapon upgrades, but this is not enough content to release the game at a $60 price tag. That said, these new and free updates have picked this game up to the level expected of a a full-fledged Kirby title.

    I certainly think Kirby Star Allies has received some warranted as well as unnecessary criticism, but the fact still remains that this is a game worth your time, especially if you're an old school Kirby fan. Enjoy playing through the fantastic visuals and please, please, please take the time to truly enjoy the soundtrack.    … Expand

    Kirby Star Allies is one of the best Kirby games, and a must have for any Kirby fan. As per tradition, the way you tackle the levels depends entirely on your expertise (you can float above danger, use abilities to destroy enemies, and even get help from 3 player friends/CPU helpers which you get from throwing hearts at foes). You can mix some abilities to interesting effects, but one ofKirby Star Allies is one of the best Kirby games, and a must have for any Kirby fan. As per tradition, the way you tackle the levels depends entirely on your expertise (you can float above danger, use abilities to destroy enemies, and even get help from 3 player friends/CPU helpers which you get from throwing hearts at foes). You can mix some abilities to interesting effects, but one of the best additions comes in the form of Dream Friends: characters from past Kirby titles (like Adeleine from Kirby 64, Marx from Superstar, Magolor from Return to Dreamland, among others) who can be made partners in the main adventure, and you can even PLAY AS THEM in the other modes: this makes Kirby Star Allies the only Kirby game where you can play as 12 (+1) unique characters (not counting Kirby and his plethora of abilities)! Many were released as free DLC updates through the year, and as of December 2018, all free DLC updates have been released, which make the game feel like the anniversary Kirby game it surely is. When you finish the main story mode, you unlock "Guest Star ???", which lets you play as an ability helper or Dream Friend trough modified levels of the main game (and Dream Friends get extra love, because their levels are mostly based around their unique abilities and game of origin). If you want an extra difficult challenge, you can enter "Heroes in Another Dimension", where you'll have to collect 120 hearts across four levels filled with puzzles, death traps and powered-up versions of past bosses. AND if you ever want to take a break from platforming and just get to the bosses, "The Ultimate Challenge" has you covered. As this game's "Arena" and "True Arena", you get to decide the difficulty level (and number of bosses you face) at the start of the challenge. This time, however, you can test your skills as any of the Dream Friends, and even unlock new difficulty levels! The visuals are gorgeous, the music is great (with many remixes of past Kirby tunes), and you can unlock special illustrations by collecting puzzle pieces along your way (in all game modes). This game is one of the sweetest Kirby games, and the love and attention to Kirby history makes this one of my favorite Kirby titles and Switch games this year. If you're a newcomer to the genre of platforming games, a seasoned player looking for 100% completition, a Kirby fan, or someone who likes to have a fun time with friends or familiy blasting trough gorgeous worlds, Kirby Star Allies is the way to go!… Expand

    while not as good as the 3DS Kirby games, this game is perfect if you want a multiplayer Kirby game. plus, it has ongoing free DLC.

    What an awesome Kirby Game! As a person who loves Kirby, it is such a epic game to play head-to-toe. The graphics, the theme of friendship, the levels, catchy earworms, EXCELLENT. Having 4 worlds might be a tad short but the plotline makes it worth getting. Keep this up, Nintendo!

    Was already fun as just Kirby can get before, but now that its getting extra content its even better, specially with all the classic characters in such a massive multitude coming back, each with their own moveset.

    Though it’s not technically perfect by any means, Star Allies remains entertaining from start to finish. Let the puffball meet the misfits, it’s time for Kirby to shine on Switch.

    Kirby Star Allies makes the simplicity of smiling a lasting thing. The game is beautiful and has music that impresses by it's quality. The title is very amusing and if you can join three more friends, you will have one of the funniest experiences on the Nintendo Switch. It is an experience that should be appreciated in its entirety.
