    Kero Blaster is a 2d platformer that is charming and beautiful with control issues. The double jump has a very strange timing with respect to how you tap the buttons, which becomes problematic during boss battles as tapping incorrectly while managing several assaults often ends in instant death. Moreover, you cannot shoot and turn. To turn and shoot, you must turn, then shoot. Again, notKero Blaster is a 2d platformer that is charming and beautiful with control issues. Boss battles are inevitable so this becomes problematic within 30-40 minutes of the game. Would love an update to improve the double jump at the very least, adding height to the jump as well would easily makes this an 8.5/9 out of 10 instead of a 6, maybe 7.… Expand

    This indy retro platformer-shooter is brutal and the mechanics solid & tight.
    Perfect way to bring such a 2D platformer genre back into the scene I love it

    A great game, the atmosphere of 8 bit is amazing, if you are a fan of atari games then you have to play it.

    game is addictive and the weapons are very balanced also zangyou mode is one of my favorite hard modes in a game

    Short but sweet retro platformer, I just wish there was more of this game to play. I definitely enjoyed my time with it - it's no shovel night but it's one of the best retro platformers I've played in recent memory.

    Kero Blaster comes from a celebrated indie author, but it seems happy to be an unassuming little game. It's a run-and-gun platformer-shooter set in an absurdist world. The story and characters feel like a cross between a fever dream and a clever joke, and they ooze charming Japanese weirdness.     The best side of Kero Blaster is how well it manages to feel like a classic 8-bit game, even if it plays much smoother than most of those games. The music was clearly inspired by chiptunes, only with a broader palette. The sprites are big and chunky, but more expressive and colorful than the games of yore. The gameplay is simple, but it has an intelligent structure that forces you to replay levels without ever going into the frustrating loop of a NES game. Everything is designed to look like a game from the late 80s–only one that actually stands up to the nostalgia.

    Kero Blaster doesn't last long, and it doesn't attempt anything revolutionary. For its short playtime, however, it provides some good, smartly designed fun.    … Expand

    Very simplistic game with clunky-feeling controls and lackluster bosses that cheese you more than test your skills.

    This game is good with a few hiccups. Like cave story, I like the upgrade system. The game reminds me of contra but with it's own cave story like charm. However this game can get hard, especially in hard mode. There are some funny moments in the game too where you have interactions with your boss.     Kero Blaster proves that going back to a genre’s roots can be a refreshing experience. While marred by a sense of strict linearity and some barren background elements, it’s a treat for those that want a solid run-and-gun title.

    It does a wonderful job of capturing the feel of classic NES shooters while bringing them into the modern day with upgradeable weapons and health boosters. Throw in a handful of modes that encourage replay, a stellar cast, brilliant production values, and a killer soundtrack, and Kero Blaster is a modern classic. It could stand to be longer, but this is a game that will keep players hooked. Go give it a download!

    Kero Blaster is a retro platformer-shooter that has also managed to embrace contemporary mechanics. Resulting in a challenging but fair experience that provides just enough variation to be engaging during its appropriate length.
