I purposely create an account to review this game. Please don't give misleading review until you played the whole game. This game suck, movement suck, not button responsive, artwork little to no gradient at all. PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS GAME

The biggest enemy in this game is the camera. They try to zoomnout to make the bosses look huge but then you end up a spec on the screen. Cant tell where you are or which way youre facing. Might be fine if cera stayed centered on you but it doesnt. Not fun when you cant see whats happening

Game starts great, I am loving the mechanics and this snow viking vibe from the game.

    Can really recommend!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You know, I wanted to say nice things about this game, and give it a good rating, that is until I encountered the last boss of the game. I wanted to say that the game, if it does anything right, it is its presentation, it's similar to dark souls one, not in its difficulty but the way it presents its world, I would think the game would look fantastic if it was made into a triple a title, however, after looking over the entire game I can't say it's worth it, other then epic boss fights the rest of the game are linear and long winded puzzles and non-threatening enemies, the maps are poorly made, the character you play as feels sluggish, and worst of all the last boss is a cluster****. Where you think you got him but then he summons all the bosses at once, they all attack at once, and your health drops to zero in a flash... at once. Expand

Typical game that confuses the difficulty with being unfair, many attacks have a ridiculous hit box, besides that their attack patterns to be random can sometimes the battle can be impossible and others easier, so you depend a lot on luck . The mechanics of combat are very simple and since the maps do not mark the character and sometimes they do not represent the terrain too well, So practically, you will go blind sometimes. The music is fine, but nothing really memorable, the story is less entertaining and the artistic style is very beautiful, probably the only thing in which the game highlights... And to introduce people to Norse mythology. Expand

The art style is pretty and intricate. At times even awe-inspiring. The narrative does a nice job of balancing Thora's personal story with more overarching Norse myths, which I found to be refreshing. However, the rest of the game is a mess. Sluggish controls, obtuse hit boxes, and broken geometry do not send themselves well to the combat driven levels or bosses. I didn't find the game toThe art style is pretty and intricate. However, the rest of the game is a mess. Sluggish controls, obtuse hit boxes, and broken geometry do not send themselves well to the combat driven levels or bosses. I didn't find the game to be difficult, but the game was clearly designed to tell a visual story, yet the combat feels ham-fisted and just isn't very good. I enjoyed Thora's story, but 20 minutes of total narrative isn't worth the 3-to-4 hours of actual uninspired gameplay that neither assists the story nor could stand on it's own. I also found that the obsequious placement of monuments in-game to Kickstarter backers pulled me completely out of the immersion of the world the game was trying to build. The long advance to Odin's Hall at the end of the game is adorned with Romanesque statues of backers. Load times are also abysmal on the Switch. Do not recommend. Expand

Way better than I imagined, and surprisingly engaging. Artwork is not that beautiful (but the camera frames some beautiful panoramas), movement is sluggish, story is unwelcome (in icelandic I believe). And despite all of these, the mostly barren worlds and the battles against the giants (slow but not too hard, no sense comparing this to Dark Souls) proved compelling. Good for what it is.

Jotun: Valhalla Edition is one of the most outstanding indie games in recent years that will delight both fans of the genre and the Nordic mythology. It stands out for presenting an interesting story, a magnificent artistic design, precise control, exploration, puzzles and beautiful melodies. All this accompanied by great battles against the Jotun, which are undoubtedly the best of the title.

Jotun is a game of two halves, unfortunately, the half requiring exploration is an exercise in monotony. The true core of the game is found with the excellent Jotun battles, where you are truly challenged, whilst rewarded for your efforts.

The surreal fantasy world shows a lot of potential, but battles as well as puzzles are too simplistic and monotonous.
