    Infliction Extended Cut was a fun, scary, mysterious experience. The gameplay itself is very simple, but the story and the things you discover are what make you stay until the end. I enjoyed my time with it.

    One of the only issues with Infliction is that while a handful of very cool concepts are present in the latter half of the game, some of these feel like they come out of nowhere and may not entirely fit with the vibe of the first half. Nevertheless, Infliction is a glowing example of how good this genre can be when developers take the right lessons from those who came before. With an interesting setting, some genuinely great monster designs, and fantastic sound design, Infliction on Switch is a must-have for anybody looking to get spooked.

    Infliction: Extended Cut is a horror title with good ideas but unable to successfully execute any of them. Luckily, its story, its environment and its sounds stand out against a poor graphic section and playable elements that take us away from a complete terrifying experience.

    Infliction: Extended Cut is a solid option for fans of first-person horror, but it's hard to shake the feeling of inferiority when compared to other offerings in the genre. It doesn't do much wrong, but Infliction feels derivative and more focus on the detective aspect would have served the game well in the end.

    Infliction: Extended Cut is a perfectly serviceable horror game. It wears its inspirations, like P.T. and Layers of Fear, on its sleeve and tries its best to improve on concepts presented in those games. This works with some features like the atmosphere and world-building, but falls flat when it comes to game mechanics. Infliction: Extended Cut is worth a playthrough for hardcore horror junkies looking for another fix, but probably won't excite anyone bored of the genre or interested in something truly innovative.

    Horror is an intensely difficult genre to get right. You need to draw players in and immerse them in the experience to the point that they have an emotional connection to the game, and then hit them with things that are not just grotesque, but also deeply unsettling. Horror needs to engage the brain as it engages the more visceral reactions, and that's very hard to do. Infliction: Extended Cut doesn't get there. It's simply too pedestrian and rote to really work.
