    I have never played a warriors game before & I didn't even know I would like it but I decided to play the demo & now I'm hooked. This game is amazing.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I rate it 10 just because the stupid rating under 7 or 8. I think its a good game, way better than WiiU HW because the action feels more solid and, subjective 100%, the great love I have for BOTW. I was quite disappointed when I discovered its not set in the same timeline as BOTW but I imagine they are saving it for BOTW2. All in all, I recommend it strongly. Even if you don't love musous, like me. I had a great time. :P… Expand

    Estamos ante el mejor Musou del mundo, sin dudas. El tamaño de su plantel es reducido en comparación a otros del género, pero su estilo de juego es único y original. NADA DE INSPIRARSE DE LO ANTERIORMENTE CREADO. Eso lo llena de originalidad. Su sistema de mejora no se siente como una barrera imposible de superar desde los primeros pasos, eso lo hace dinámico. Su dificultad es la mejor queEstamos ante el mejor Musou del mundo, sin dudas. El tamaño de su plantel es reducido en comparación a otros del género, pero su estilo de juego es único y original. NADA DE INSPIRARSE DE LO ANTERIORMENTE CREADO. Eso lo llena de originalidad. Su sistema de mejora no se siente como una barrera imposible de superar desde los primeros pasos, eso lo hace dinámico. Su dificultad es la mejor que haya visto en cualquier Musou, su música es soberbia, la historia está bien contada; con cinemáticas que no duran ni mucho ni muy poco. LO JUSTO. Las misiones principales, secundarias, el rejugable y coleccionables son abundantes y siempre hay algo que hacer. La batalla contra los jefes y subjefes de cada nivel es única y recuerdan más a un DarkSouls que a un Musou. (Sobre todo en la máxima dificultad.) Con este juego Nintendo y Koei Tecmo han dejado la vara de medir muy alta para los futuros juegos del género.     Exactly what Botw needed to flesh out its characters and story. Excellent animation with ghibliesque flourishes. Superb evolution of botws soundtrack.

    Combat felt more like Ff7 remake to me than the og hyrule warriors due to its focus on switching characters, reactive use of ruins and flurry rush. Much more I could say but this was exactly what I wanted from this game.

    The best warriors game ever made. which makes sense since nintendo helped with it. it is so much fun and detailed. it being zelda makes it that much better. i never really cared about the fps drops. only happens when a lot of things happen on screen at once and it really isn't an issue. just in general, great gameplay, great story and all around a great game.

    There is a lot of bad reviews from the Jim Sterling bots and others who can't fathom the idea of another Zelda game taking game of the year.
    The game is great and follows the tone and development of Breath of the Wild. It is a prequel for the sake of having a prequel but its a good prequel.

    Everything Breath of the wild should've been and actually enables you to care about the champions. Music is far better, exploration is so much more satisfying, combat is amazing and especially considering as weapons don't break.

    Weapon levelling is a nice addition and makes for some interesting perks and abilities. Character combos are actually amazing, even on the low levels. Only grip is that there wasn't any deployability after finishing everything on the map unlike the first Hyrule warriors where illustration pieces which were unlocked by killing skulltalas would open up the illustration map which would have more stages / bonuses / outfits and weapons as well as characters to unlock.    … Expand

    The demo was already good but playing through the story is simply magical. The art style is beautiful and based on BOTW’s Hyrule, voice acting is well performed, the music is outstanding and the combat, that could have become a bit repetitive since it’s a musou, is actually refreshing with constant new moves and attacks being delivered. 10/10. Excellent addition to the Zelda series.

    La historia del juego y su conexión al universo de Breath of the Wild, hacen de Age of Calamity una joya de la saga Zelda. Su jugabilidad es muy atrayente y queda perfecto con la temática que se vive en Hyrule en esa época.

    If you like the musou games and Zelda BOTW that's your game for you guys! I saw some frame drops but I bet that this can be fixed with some future update. The game is awesome. I haven't felt so nice with a game since Zelda BOTW. Epic!

    Muy buen juego, con una dificultad que puedes graduar según tu habilidad. La jugabilidad es muy buena acompañado de cinemáticas en el momento adecuado no corta la acción. Si tienes tu Nintendo Switch descarga la demo y juega los niveles disponibles cambiando la dificultad para que pruebes.

    Great game!
    I had doubt about how good it could be, once pass through a prequel of breath of the wild. The gameplay is good, sounds great and so many things to do that make it a must buy game.

    Este juego es jodidamente epico... La música es increible, la historia es muy muy buena, tiene momentos memorables... Las cinemáticas son impresionantes. Creo que no hay que juzgar a este juego como algo único, yo lo veo como una expansión al Zelda BOTW, y el cojunto es de un nivel supremo.... La jugabilidad me encantó y la verdad que la caidas de FPS no me afectaron en nadaa....

    Absolutely amazing, seriously. The story, cutscenes and voice acting are excellent and impressive, the combat is better than in the first Hyrule Warriors with a ton of variety between all the playable characters. This game has a huge amount of content and has better level design than the first Hyrule Warriors. Great game and a must play for any fan of Warriors games or Breath of the Wild.

    No entiendo tanto lloriqueo por unas simples caídas de frames, entendiendo que son en momentos puntuales donde obviamente hay muchísimos enemigos y los ataques especiales requieren de un alto uso de recursos. Por lo demás todo es increíble, la historia, los personajes, la jugabilidad. Las personas de hoy se centran en puras tonteras como la resolución ultra hd 500 k y los 5000 fps cuandoNo entiendo tanto lloriqueo por unas simples caídas de frames, entendiendo que son en momentos puntuales donde obviamente hay muchísimos enemigos y los ataques especiales requieren de un alto uso de recursos. It's not often I go for completion on a game, but this is one case where I enjoy the diversity of the characters so much that I'll be sad when I've run out of challenges. The story is enjoyable and I appreciate that it wasn't focused solely on Link.     The whole FPS argument is weak to me as I didn't even notice the issue playing the game. Age of Calamity is an excellent game top to bottom. I love the options for it and the different things you can do on it like upgrading weapons and choosing characters. I really liked the storyline to the game as it sticks with the BOTW but "doesn't" at the same time.     Juego hermoso en casi todos los aspectos, el único detalle sería el framerate en algunas ocasiones, pero fuera de eso se disfruta bastante. Al inicio tenía mis dudas respecto a este juego, pero le dí el beneficio de la duda y me terminó encantando tanto su gameplay, como su historia, y no se diga su música que también es maravillosa. Todo fan de Zelda debería probarlo.

Hidemaro Fujibayashi, who directed Breath of The Wild appears in the credits of the game (not on Wikipedia) as the lead story artist, because well, that's just another Zelda game !     This Game is 10 times better than Botw. Best game I have ever played. In the technical part is the best I have ever seen. The narrative is so original, never have been seen, the gameplay is absolutely genius.
    My friend GbapZéPlatina did 100% of this perfect game. Now he is my best friend. Or best, now I am gay and I want to marry him.The characters are so original.

    Lo mejor de su genero, sube el nivel de los musuo en los que la jugabilidad suele ser repetitiva y acaban siendo un machacabotones y llega HW, multitud de combos con cada personajes mezclado con la exquisita historia que nos ofrece Legend Of Zelda, a todo aquel que no le gusten mucho los musuo este juego les puede hacer cambiar de opinion.

    As a fan of Hyrule warriors, I was excited for another chapter in the blossoming series and when I learned it was taking place 100 years prior to botw, I was beyond excited! While the game may have it's moments dipping down in fps(I'm looking at you Urbosa's special) it doesn't detract from the fun. The dips that happen are very few and last only mere seconds that it's very easy to ignore,As a fan of Hyrule warriors, I was excited for another chapter in the blossoming series and when I learned it was taking place 100 years prior to botw, I was beyond excited! While the game may have it's moments dipping down in fps(I'm looking at you Urbosa's special) it doesn't detract from the fun. The dips that happen are very few and last only mere seconds that it's very easy to ignore, especially when you're busy trying to finish your tasks before the time limit expires. The story is really good and the voice acting is absolutely amazing. It made the journey around Hyrule memorable. Truthfully I think i prefered the bosses in AoC over Botw. I hope everyone will give this a chance so they too can experience the journey.… Expand

    This game is amazing! The story is amazing with tons of great twists and amazing characters. The gameplay is fun and is just an all around great game. Controlling the divine beasts is so fun. The music is amazing, and while the frame rate can dip sometimes, its usually pretty solid. Its an amazing game overall, really recommend it. The large crowds and populated world draw perfect contrastThis game is amazing! The story is amazing with tons of great twists and amazing characters. The gameplay is fun and is just an all around great game. Controlling the divine beasts is so fun. The music is amazing, and while the frame rate can dip sometimes, its usually pretty solid. Its an amazing game overall, really recommend it. The large crowds and populated world draw perfect contrast with Breath of the Wild, and it tells a great story and fleshes out great characters. The story is great (even if it isn't exactly canon, but what exactly IS canon in the TLOZ's time line, right?), there's a bunch of characters (even more than trailers have shown) with different gameplays and SO MUCH to do! I started the game playing on hard mode and in two days I already have 20 hours of gameplay, and I ain'tThe amount of fun I am having with this game is extraordinary. I wasn't expecting to have that much gun in a musou game, but it's pretty fantastic. There are few fps drops along the way, but I only really noticed at the begining and some parts of the Hyrule Forest and none was a problem to me.     Best game I have played in 2020. I am not completed yet but the story is extremely addicting and the way missions are added is extremely addicting. The combat is fun and the presentation is phenomenal.

    Love it, addicted to it, wish there was more of it. I know people with scared that the game story would ruin Breath of the Wild but I feel like it compliments it well while still keeping Breath of the Wild seperate.

    I had a lot of fun playing this game, especially because there is a local two player coop mode. I played the whole game and the only thing that's left is some collectables I need to find.
    If you need to have 60fps and get angry, if the frame rate drops, please do not buy, save us all some peaceful time =)

Criticism aside this game is amazing. The gameplay is very wicked and it's worth a try. The story might be iffy for some people but it's great to me. I advise you to play the demo before playing the game which most of these negative reviewers never did do. It's a very good game and I'll recommend this to any Zelda fan or musou fan. The only complaint I have is the Divine beast gameplay which can get a tad repetitive but still feels amazing. I'm just going to point this out one last time the people who are comparing this game to Breath of the wild clearly never did their research.This game is not a Zelda game it's a Warriors game mixed with Breath of the wild and it the devs did it very well.     This is , without the technical issues and the sometimes very repetitive Missions, a really good and fun Warriors Game. I didnt play the original Hyrule Warriors, i just played Botw and thought this would be the perfect addition to that. The Story and especially the End are exactly what i wanted, when i finished botw. imo a must play if you enjoyed botw and its story too

    botw is my favorite game of all time so I think that's partly why I liked Hyrule Warriors age of Calamity as much as I did and the weapons system and characters are extremely fun and unique, And combat isvery satisfying... this is my first Hyrule Warriors game.

When I realized that it wouldn't be an actual prequel to Breath of the Wild, but rather an alternate story, I was slightly less hyped when I got the game. HOWEVER, do NOT let this stop you from getting the game because I was stunned at how AMAZING this game is! I already still had high expectations for the game, but but it exceeded them all. The gameplay is better than the original Hyrule Warriors and is indeed not "just another Warriors game". I actually felt myself using my resources and strategy wisely, unlike last game where I'd run in and kill everyone in sight. Just like the gameplay, the story was GREAT! Voice acting was also much better compared to Breath of the Wild. The story was well done and is definitely on the same quality standard of the other mainline Zelda games! I can't suggest this game enough. It's truly better than what the critics say and deserves its excellent rating. It's worth every penny!… Expand

People fault the game for having frame drops, but personally the frame drops give me a few extra moments to analyze the scene and figure out what to do next.     A great and fun game....period. Nintendo did a fine job of telling the story of Zelda and Link where as Breath of the Wild DID not. I dont understand the hype on BOTW. The characters are great, they really are. Graphics look very nice and it runs smooth after they patched it soon after. Everything just looks and feels very nice. Great job Nintendo!

    The people complaining about the story are morons, it was absolutely phenomenal. This is my second favorite game of all time, to Breath of the Wild. The gameplay is fantastic, and without the main story twist, the game would be left feeling barebones and way less enjoyable. This game is so amazing.

The gameplay is a mix of Dynasty Warriors and BOTW, but contains a lot more LOZ-style gameplay than the original Hyrule Warriors did. This game also gives you an opportunity to become more attached to the characters than BOTW did, especially considering you can play as many of them.

    However, no game is perfect, and Age of Calamity DOES have a couple of issues with it. Notably, framerate. When using attacks that take up a lot of space on the screen or facing a LOT of enemies at once, the game tends to lag to a decent degree (but not to unplayable rates).

    The second major caveat that Age of Calamity takes is the very gameplay itself. IF you are looking for a game with gameplay akin to BOTW, then I'd advise waiting for BOTW 2 to come out...however, if you enjoy frantic and fast-paced hack 'n slashes (and don't mind it becoming repetitive on occasion), then I'd highly recommend picking up this game, not only for its story, but for the ability to live the Calamity and be your favorite characters from BOTW!    … Expand

    This should be a given, but you will enjoy this game more if you are a Zelda fan who enjoyed BOTW and played it to its completion. This game draws heavily from BOTW. From the map and its locations, the equipment and the menus, to the characters and side quests (even random NPCs.)

    This game is almost entirely combat, so it's a good thing it's well handled. Out of any Zelda game I've played, this one is the most enjoyable for me in terms of combat. Granted, Zelda games don't have very nuanced combat to begin with. But what is here is enjoyable. The animations are a spectacle to behold for a Zelda game, and Link has never felt more powerful. Skill and proper timing is rewarded. If you find it too easy, there are higher difficulty options that provide a challenge and encourage you to use every option available to you. My main complaint with combat is with the camera. Indoors, when you're up against a wall, don't even bother. You have to reposition yourself to see anything.

    The story and the cutscenes that portray it are of a higher quality than you would expect from Zelda games. The end of the story had an actual emotional impact on me. The music that plays during important moments drives home the sense of despair, the intensity of the war, and the hope of victory. The timing and placement of it is just spot on.

    I beat the first Hyrule Warriors, and I didn't get nearly as much enjoyment from it as I did this game. The gameplay is more fine tuned. I actually have a vested interest in the story, setting, and characters this time. If you got any enjoyment out of Hyrule Warriors and you enjoyed BOTW, it's a buy. If you enjoyed BOTW and don't get enjoyment from Dynasty Warrior type games, it's a borrow/rent/wait for sale.    … Expand

This is without a doubt a Warriors game that looks like BotW, & I'm here for it. Still not sure if the story is canon as a prequel or if it just all takes place in the BotW universe, much like the first HW was just several canon Legend of Zelda stories inside of a non-canon story. It feels so great to just play as one of the beast, just to stop and crush your enemies like godzilla. The negative, you cannot command allies to move to an area with a different elevation. In the game, some areas have different terrain levels, like up a mountain, you cannot command an ally to move to a different level than what you already on. You also cannot give your allies specific commands, like go here to attack or defend, you can only order them to set location and the ai wil just chill around or attack nearby eneimes, that's it, and even after you take control and lets said move to a different area, the ai will still remember the pervious command even after completing the command. Something I think the Fire Emblem Warriors did better in. The game focus extremely on depleting your opponent's defense meter either by hitting them with a wand, using your runes or dodging, it makes combat easier but it gets repetitive real fast as its really the only way to kill strong enemies fast. I have play quite a few, this, Fire Emblem Warriors, One piece pirate Warrior 3 and 4, as well as many of the Dynasty warriors games. This game is pretty solid but needs work to improve mainly the map interaction with ai allies mostly.… Expand

    Lo único negativo es que en momentos puntuales con muchos enemigos o al terminar un combo puede haber algún bajón pequeño de FPS

    Amazing game. Loved the story, the gameplay, voice acting, soundtrack. Everything was great. The only problem is the performance but you get used to it and it is not that bad.

    Highly recommend it. Definitely one of the greatest games of 2020.

    Unlike HW, AOC feels more canon to the Zelda universe, it works both as a prequel, and a spin-off. I truly feel it's a love letter to Breath of the Wild with the mechanics it uses and way it's set up.

I didn't mind the occasional fps drops and some off camera movements in tight corners since the sum of things is almost too good to be true, visually and acustically. I best the game after around 45 hours, taking my time and doing lots of side quests. I expect to put another 20-30 hours while playing for some quick fun during the next weeks. In my eyes a must-play for all BOTW fans and a definite option for those who are unfamiliar with the franchise!… Expand

    Amazing game, addicting gameplay and an engaging story if you loved Breath of the Wild. This game has a lot of content that nevers feels repetitive due to the amount of fun you're having while killing hundreds of enemies. Completely worth it!

But there are two boss fights in which the low fps happen while you're fighting(But it only happens when the boss executes an specific attack and that's it, the rest of the fight is completely playable).     When the trailers of games out, I only thought that we can play the champions, Zelda and Impa, but the real playable characters surprise me. It is so many, even Master Kohga can be played.
    The gameplay is good too, though I'm not a fan of warrior type of game, I enjoy this game so much. You have so much things to do, so much combo and you will not be bored when playing for a long time.
    Of course, the best thing I love about this game is the story. This is a happy ending for Link and Zelda, where they defeated Calamity Ganon and saved all people. If the story of BOTW shows me the loneliness of Link and the pain he and Zelda bearing after 100 years, this game shows me the friendships, relationships that give Link and Zelda power. So happy to see Link always have connections with the others. And at last, this game leaves me in a question "So the timeline is split again :))))"

    It's really impressive how they were able to fuse BOTW elements with Warriors gameplay, making for a very delicate mix of mindless fun, skill based combat and RPG goodness. I love it!

    A more-than-satisfying tie-over to “Breath of the Wild”’s sequel, this companion game sacrifices BOTW’s exploration for beefed up storytelling that challenges what a prequel could be, and the Warriors gameplay has been refined to fit the Zelda-style presentation and is an addicting experience.

    If you’ve ever played Hyrule Warriors, the 2014 game, it is a Zelda styled Dynasty Warriors game. Dynasty Warriors is a hack and slash series of games that had many different spin-offs in the last decade. Fire Emblem Warriors, Hyrule Warriors, of Course, and Persona 5 Scramble, which still hasn’t been localized yet. Hyrule Warriors has some very satisfying hacking and slashing going on,If you’ve ever played Hyrule Warriors, the 2014 game, it is a Zelda styled Dynasty Warriors game. Hyrule Warriors has some very satisfying hacking and slashing going on, being able to wipe out hordes of enemies in mere minutes. I love Link’s Shield surf ability in this, and even though it went a little too fast to hit enemies with much accuracy, it was super fun. However, the bosses in this game are still pretty challenging, even if you don’t have Breath of the Wild’s difficulty and stuff. There are a lot of hard-core Breath of the Wild players out there, and it’s nice to see that Hyrule Warriors doesn’t compromise it’s difficulty even though you can cut down normal enemies with ease. You can select your difficulty as well, so it’s not the hard and harder difficulties in Breath of the Wild. If you came in expecting Breath of the Wild, you’re gonna be pretty disappointed, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a similar feel to Breath of the Wild. You get different characters, special abilities, et cetera. If you really want to know, play the demo.

    So Age of Calamity’s style is visually the exact same as Breath of the Wild. Obviously many assets were re-used, but they made some different renders of new characters as well, which is quite shocking. Well, it’s shocking that they made new characters, not that they rendered them. Because of course you gotta render new characters. For example, look at Impa! She either looked like she wanted to slice your face off, or that she was going to fall over due to her massive head, but this render? She looks so young, so naive, and cute, and so freaking Naruto.

    Lastly, this story is nothing to scoff at. I won't spoil anything, but this thing plays such a huge role in the Zelda timeline, and it is such an awesome story. This story really hyped me up. It felt like waiting for Avengers: Endgame or Smash Ultimate. That's the hype level we're talking about here. There were some really empowering moments in there, and also a lot of sad moments. All of it paints a beautiful picture, no, a beautiful game. This is truly one of the best games to come out this year.    … Expand

    Age of Calamity is like a t-shirt with your favorite band’s artwork – remove the love of their music and all you’ve got is a piece of clothing. Similarly, if you play Hyrule Warriors not familiar with Breath of the Wild, you’ll miss tons of fan service and end up with a pretty and relaxing but rather basic hack and slash. [01/2021, p.64]
