While it borrows from the Zelda blueprint and games that have followed, it is packaged so perfectly that it stands above the rest. The depth of its vivid world goes beyond what you see on your screen. There’s more lurking there, and you’ll want to discover it all.

Hyper Light Drifter is a jaw-dropping experience no matter the platform you play it on. What started as an engaging masterpiece in 2016 continues to be just as rewarding and worthwhile of a video game in 2018. With the Nintendo Switch you get the valuable bonus of being able to take this journey with you anywhere you want and believe me when I say this is a journey you will not want to step away from once you start it.

You owe it to yourself to give Hyper Light Drifter a go. It’s an incredible game with a wonderful look and feel to every part of it. It’s beautiful, looking great on the Switch’s screen, and can be surprisingly enveloping as an experience even as you take it to louder, crowded public areas. Every new area and experience was a delight to me, and I kept taking screenshots all the way through. It’s a challenge, but every moment was worth it.

Like on the other platforms Hyper Light Drifter on Switch is a visually and mechanically captivating action adventure that you can’t help but admire.

Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition is a must-own for anyone who enjoys a quality action title. Fans of 2D Zelda games will adore this for how it pays lip-service without being derivative. Heart Machine has triumphed by focusing on what people loved about action-adventures, while refining combat and challenge. In the beginning, some might be overwhelmed by the lack of direction; but those who dare to actually play will be greatly rewarded. The Switch Special Edition extras are neat, but the meat and potatoes that make up the sum of Hyper Light Drifter is still what makes it so great in the first place.

The Nintendo Switch version of Hyper Light Drifter is far from perfect, but that doesn't make its world less beautiful or the combat lees vibrant. Due to the mysterious storytelling and difficult challenges. It's not a game for everyone, making it one of those "either you love it or hate it"... And we definitely belong in the first group.

There is no doubt: the Special Edition of Hyper Light Drifter arrived on Switch is the definitive version of the gaming masterpiece of equilibrium signed Heart Machine a couple of years ago.

After the canned PlayStation Vita version of the game, it’s wonderful to finally be able to play Hyper Light Drifter on the go. The developer has pretty much stated that in its mind, the Switch version is the definitive version of the game – and you can tell. With elements that make it smoother for newcomers on top of everything that made the base game great, this is a port that truly feels at home on Switch, despite the occasional drop of frames.

Hyper Light Drifter is a gorgeous experience that everyone needs to play but keep the performance issues in mind before you get the Switch version.

Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition is a more complete adventure that will captivate us not only due to its art, gameplay and story told by means of images, but also thanks to the deeper, real meaning that comes from projecting the heart disease of its creator.

Although it has been two years since its official launch, Heart Machine's work comes with a Nintendo Switch title that teaches you that you do not need to be more powerful to improve; you have skills that allow you to be better. The exploration and the agility stand out in a title that could have been much more ambitious in its mechanics but manages to offer a great setting.

If you’re the kind of gamer who loves old-school games, post-apocalyptic style, and gameplay that really challenges your reflexes, Hyper Light Drifter – Special Edition is absolutely the game for you. If, on the other hand, you prefer your RPGs to be a little more slow and steady, this may incite a little more controller rage than you’d like, regardless of the game’s beautiful trappings. Even then, though, it’s hard not to like what the developer has done here, and for that, this is definitely a game worth a look.

Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition is fantastic–one of the best games on Switch indie or otherwise. You are doing yourself a disservice by not playing it. A wonderfully unique and ensnaring world boasting beautiful sounds and imagery is complemented perfectly by the incredibly smooth combat. On top of the portability and smooth performance, the special edition tune-up offers some peripheral new content for returning players such as new items and outfits. Abylight should be commended for this marvelous porting job, and Heart Machine deserves all of the praise they have received for this magnificent game.

Indie games don't get much more memorable than Hyper Light Drifter and this Special Edition acts as a good excuse to finally play it if you haven't already. Just make sure you're ready for an intense challenge before taking the plunge.
