    SHOOT SHOOT BULLET BULLET GUN!

There's no shortage of quasi realistic shooting games on mobile and other game systems out there (PC and otherwise). Admittedly a niche genre, there aren't too many shooting gallery style games if you will on Nintendo's little "handheld that could" although there are a few with mixed degrees of results thanks to a bevy of indie developers embracing the Switch in all of it's glory.

For those of you not in the know, a shooting gallery game is similar in some respects to a virtual shooting range if implemented adequately. The mark of a good value in this admittedly small game demographic is how realistic, responsive, and accurate the shooting physics are. After all, the whole idea behind these games is to get better with more challenging levels and/or targets.

'Hunter Shooting Camp' thankfully is one that passes muster and quite remarkably so once you give it a chance. The physics are maddeningly accurate, enough so that you will know immediately if you didn't hit the goal that it was your own darn fault. This gives it that extra and unexpected "one more round" boost. Levels are varied and a welcome addition. You can shoot targets at a range which get progressively more difficult to nail that elusive perfect bullseye, as they increase from static displays to moving targets as you level up.

But there are also several other modes including a nifty little nod to the Deer Hunter series (although it is not nearly as graphically competent) which requires you to shoot and kill deer by hitting vital areas. After your first few shots they all start to bolt in different directions, and a non-vital hit will only wound a deer. It's a nice touch that even includes a neat little Silent Scope/Sniper Elite bullet time effect when you get a good clean kill shot.

Some of the controls are a bit wonky on the front end as buttons don't really respond or do what you would intuitively expect to navigate the various menus but it is a minor gripe overall.

Gyro controls would've also been a nice optional touch, but it's hardly a deal breaker for the price.

Despite the rather unoriginal title and cover art (which instantly will give the impression of yet another shovel-ware title), Hunter Shooting Camp is in reality quite a fun and worthwhile bargain bin title for the price.

    OVERALL SCORE BREAKDOWN:

    CONTROLS: 8/10
    GRAPHICS: 6/10
    CHALLENGE: 8/10
    FUN: 8/10
